  • For all pairwise comparisons of treatments, Bayesian simultaneous confidence intervals are proposed and studied. First Bayesian solutions are obtained for a fixed prior, and then prior parameters are estimated by a parametric empirical Bayesian method. The nominal confidence level is shown to be controlled asymptotically. An extension to the unbalanced design is also considered.

  • A class of block designs for general combining ability comparisons within two groups of inbred lines in diallel crosses is given. These block designs are constructed by using balanced block designs obtained by cyclically developing a single initial block. Also, the efficiencies of block designs are tabulated for number of lines 26 or less.

  • In this paper, diallel crosses block designs for control versus test comparisons among the lines are proposed. These block designs are constructed by using partially balanced incomplete block designs with C-properties. Also, the efficiencies of the diallel crosses block designs obtained through this method are tabulated for number of lines 22 or less.

  • The goal of this article is to study the performances of various empirical Bayes simultaneous interval estimates for all pairwise comparisons. The considered empirical Bayes interval estimaters are those based on unbiased estimate, a hierarchical Bayes estimate and a constrained hierarchical Bayes estimate. Simulation results for small sample cases are given and an illustrative example is also provided.

  • This paper studies the efficiency of four algorithms in determining the shortest-route length between two specified nodes of a network in which every pair of nodes is connected by two nonnegative length arcs. The efficiency is measured in terms of number of additions and comparisons in computation of the shortest-route length. Also, each algorithm is programmed on the IBM 1130 for solving for example problems, and the computing time is measured for further efficiency comparisons.

  • Cumulative sum schemes based on a weighted score are considered for controlling the mean of a continuous production process; in which both the one-sided and two-sided schemes are proposed. The average run lengths and the run length distributions for the proposed schemes are obtained by the Markov chain approach. Comparisons by the average run length show that the proposed schemes perform nearly as well as the standard cumulative sum schemes in detecting changes in the process mean. Comparisons of the one-sided schemes by the run length distribution are also presented.

  • A new algorithm is proposed in this paper which efficiently performs join in the temporal database. The main idea is to sort the smaller relation and to partition the larger relation, and the proposed algorithm reduces the cost of sorting the larger relation. To show the usefulness of the algorithm, the cost is analyzed with respect to the number of accesses to secondary storage and compared with that of Sort-Merge algorithm. Through the comparisons, we present and verify the conditions under which the proposed algorithm always outperforms the Sort-Merge algorithm. The comparisons show that the proposed algorithm achieves 10∼30% gain under those conditions.

  • This paper describes the result of proficiency testing by inter-laboratory comparisons for braking lining. Proficiency testing provides an objective means of assessing and demonstrating the validity and reliability of test results produced by laboratories. To more accuracy comparison test for braking lining test, they will be made the same test procedure and environment conditions.

  • This paper deals with the comparisons of gain design of current controller with the first order lag characteristics. Usually the current controller for motor drives and PCSs has the first order lag characteristics to avoid the current overshoot. This paper suggests a new inductor current controller for the PCSs and also compares with other two current controllers. The simulation results show that the proposed design method also gives the first order lag characteristics and can be used as an alternative current controller for PCSs.
