The Analysis on Question's Patterns in Elementary School Science Teacher's Guidebooks of 5, 6th Grade under the 2009 Revised Curriculum (2009 개정 교육과정에 따른 5, 6학년 초등과학과 교사용 지도서에 제시된 발문 유형 분석)

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze question's patterns in elementary school science teacher's guide books of 5, 6th grade under the 2009 revised curriculum. A modified analysis framework based on Blosser's classified system was used to analyze 1,982 questions extracted from elementary science teacher's guide books by grade, by domain, and by teaching and learning stage. The findings of this study were as follows. First, of the 1,982 questions, the most prominent type of question was the propositional question and the following was the reproductive question. And, in comparing the question's patterns between 5, 6th grade, it was found that 6th grade had higher rate of close typed question, while 5th grade had higher rate of open typed question in its curriculum. Secondly, a comparative study about two domains, material and energy science domain and earth and life science domain, showed that the number of questions of each domain was not much different. However, it was found that propositional questions and applicable questions showed a higher rate in material and energy science domain, and anticipated questions and open typed questions including divergent and evaluative question showed higher rate in earth and life science domain. Moreover, although the total number of questions from integration and my fun research domain's contents was small, the rate of open typed questions was higher than any other domains. Finally, as a result of comparing and analyzing question's pattern in teaching and learning stages, the rate of reproductive question and anticipated questions was high at the stage of introduction. At the stage of development, the rate of propositional and reproductive questions was high. At the stage of conclusion, the rate of synthetic and applicable questions was high.

A Comparison Study on the Semi-empirical Analysis Approach for the Flight Characteristics of a Light Airplane (경비행기의 비행특성 분석 및 준경험적 분석 방법 비교)

  • In this study, for development of the MDO (Multi Disciplinary Optimization) framework, the flight dynamic characteristic parameters of the ChangGong-91, a light aircraft, were extracted by an analytical method based on various semi-empirical methods, and the flight test method was compared and evaluated. The semi-empirical analysis methods for comparative subjects were the Perkins method, McCormick method, and Smetana method. The major stability/control derivatives and dynamic factors were calculated, using each method. As the comparison criteria, the flight test derivative estimates and dynamic factors were processed, using the output error method. Additionally, the flight characteristics of the light aircraft were analyzed and evaluated according to the provisions of the Korean Airworthiness Standard (KAS) of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, and MIL-F-8785C for the U.S. military.

A Comparative Study of International Mathematics Curriculum on Time of Introduction and Content Organization for Direct and Inverse Proportions and Correlation (정비례/반비례, 상관관계의 도입 시기 및 내용 조직에 대한 교육과정 국제 비교 연구)

  • Some of the critical changes in the revised 2015 Korean Mathematics curriculum were that direct proportion and inverse proportion were moved from elementary school to middle school and that supplementary content related to correlation was included. These decisions were based on comparative studies of international curriculum. Therefore in this study, we selected countries for comparison; United States, England, France, Finland, Australia, Japan, Singapore, China and Taiwan. We looked into the timing and scope for direct/inverse proportion and correlation in curricula of these countries. Along with this, we established four criteria; vertical sequence, horizontal sequence, external connection, and internal connection for an analysis framework. Then we compared and analysed the direct/inverse proportion and correlation in each curriculum. As a result, in most of these curricula, the direct/inverse proportions are introduced at middle school or are introduced at elementary school and then developed further at middle school. Most of curriculums on direct/inverse proportion and correlation match the four criteria. Correlation is introduced in high school mathematics in all counties except Finland and it is dealt in diverse context introducing related concepts, for example, correlation coefficient, regression straight line, and least square. We suggested that it is necessary to refer these international trends for the next revision of curriculum.

A Comparative Study of Mathematics Curriculum and National Assessment Between Japan and Korea (일본과 우리나라의 수학과 교육과정과 국가수준 학업성취도 평가 비교)

  • This research investigated the Revised mathematics curriculum and the National Achievement Test of Japan that advanced by leaps and bounds in PISA 2012. As compared with Korea, Japan shows similar trends in the affective domain and the cognitive domain of international achievement test. To put it concretely, this research compared and analyzed the mathematics contents domain of the 2009 revised mathematics curriculum of Korea and the 2008 revised mathematics curriculum of Japan being applied. The analysis was conducted in many aspects including overall of Japanese mathematics education system, the contents to be covered in each grade, and the methods of essential learning themes. We compared the mathematics contents dealt with each country based on the framework of analysis such as

    . Also, this research compared and analyzed overview of evaluation system, assessment frame, item characteristic, type of item of NAEA, NAT, and PISA. The results show the introduction time, the degree of deepening themes handled in each country, common themes and topics were very similar between Korea and Japan. But content area of Japan and Korea have been highlighted in the curriculum of middle school and elementary school in each are different. We know that Test B of NAT also emphasized the use of mathematical knowledge. Form the results, we obtained the basic data for the improvement of the next our curriculum. In addition, this results suggests the implications for the improvement of school mathematics curriculum of Korea.

    • This thesis compares and analyzes the dynamics between policy, knowledge and power of Myanmar's higher education development. The papers begins by exploring the dynamics during the Socialist Military Regime(1962~1988), the Collapse of Higher Education Era(1988~2010), Thein Sein's Reform Era(2010~2015) and the current Aung San Suu Kyi's Civilian Era(2015~Now). By highlighting recent dramatic policy changes, the article argues that the policy discourse on the subject of internationalization of higher education and the technocratization of education development policy by the current Civilian Government in its new policy discourse, that resulted in the active participation as well as the contributions of international donors has directly impacted on the policy dynamics around the Comprehensive Education Sector Review and the introduction of the National Education Strategic Plan 2016~2020. Further, by examining complex interaction between the current domestic education stakeholders and international donors in education sector in Myanmar, this thesis argues that the new analytical framework on the understanding of policy dynamics in developing countries goes beyond the national level. The paper argues that there needs to be broadening of the analytical framework towards the multidimensional analysis perspective that includes global, national as well as local level policy, knowledge and power dynamics in Myanmar's dynamically changing higher education sector.

    • Action games exhibit all the specific constellation of masochism, such as disavowal, suspense, waiting, fetishism, and fantasy. These characteristics of action games can be analyzed with respect to masochism. This study conducted an analysis excluding sadism as much as possible, as sadism is a result of etiological misconception as opposed to masochism. However, comparative analysis is included in the study so that action games are not seen as demonstrating sadism. Games create a space for virtual interaction for main agents by connecting gamer-existence and game-character in the framework of a contract. The interaction of visual tactility within this space creates a system of difference in pleasure. Masochism enables one to attain pleasure in a world created himself or herself using fetishism in contractual relationships such as the ones exhibited in games. This shows that action games and masochism are mutually related. This paper analyzed the ontology of action games using actual examples of action games. The paper concluded that action games lead to the fulfillment of masochistic pleasure.

    The Effects of Digital Transformation Intention of Small Traders in Domestic Traditional Industries (국내 전통산업 소상공인의 디지털 전환의도에 미치는 영향)

    • With the advent of the fourth industrial revolution, the digital transformation craze has intensified in diverse industries, such as finance, automotive, health care and agriculture. However, relative to industry demand, there is only few domestic research on digital transformation of small traders and no one has implemented empirical study on this field at all. Thus, the study conducted an empirical study to measure the digital transformation intention of domestic small traders. In the early days of domestic business start-ups, we searched for factors affecting the digital conversion intention of small business owners and designed an integrated framework to explain the causal relationship between factors. This study not only expanded and refined the scope of related research but also suggested the direction of another research that was not presented in previous research. However, there are limitations in many ways as much as the initial stage of a specific field of small business owners. There are limitations in explaining the overall perception of Korean small business owners. Therefore, in future studies, it is necessary to study more deeply by presenting more specific and various variables. In addition, although the number of respondents was sufficient in the process of empirical analysis, it is considered that the respondents are not enough to universalize the research result as a traditional small business person who did not convert all digital. It is necessary to carry out a comparative analysis by dividing the two groups in more detail and more specifically in the future study. The result of this study can suggest the direction for accelerating small traders' digital transformation intention in terms of practical view, and provide useful references which can support the theoretical foundation for researchers who will perform future related research in terms of academic view.

    Comparison analysis of big data integration models (빅데이터 통합모형 비교분석)

    • As Big Data becomes the core of the fourth industrial revolution, big data-based processing and analysis capabilities are expected to influence the company's future competitiveness. Comparative studies of RHadoop and RHIPE that integrate R and Hadoop environment, have not been discussed by many researchers although RHadoop and RHIPE have been discussed separately. In this paper, we constructed big data platforms such as RHadoop and RHIPE applicable to large scale data and implemented the machine learning algorithms such as multiple regression and logistic regression based on MapReduce framework. We conducted a study on performance and scalability with those implementations for various sample sizes of actual data and simulated data. The experiments demonstrated that our RHadoop and RHIPE can scale well and efficiently process large data sets on commodity hardware. We showed RHIPE is faster than RHadoop in almost all the data generally.

    Digital Diplomacy via Social Networks: A Cross-National Analysis of Governmental Usage of Facebook and Twitter for Digital Engagement

    • Over the last couple of years, digital diplomacy has become a fascinating area of research among Mass Communication, Peace and Conflict Studies, and International Affairs scholars. Social media and new technology open up new avenues for governments, individuals, and organizations to engage with foreign audiences. However, developing countries' governments are still lacking in the realization of the potential of social media. This study aims to analyze the usage of social media (Facebook & Twitter) by the two biggest countries in South Asia (Pakistan and India). I selected 10 government officials' social media accounts including prime ministers', national press offices', military public relations offices', public diplomacy divisions', and ministries of foreign offices' profiles. The study relies on quantitative content analysis and a comparative research approach. The total number of analyzed Twitter tweets (n=1,015) and Facebook posts (n=1,005) include 10 accounts, five from each country. In light of Kent and Taylor's (1998) dialogic communication framework, the results indicate that no digital engagement and dialogue occurs between government departments and the public through social networking sites. Government departments do not engage with local or foreign audiences through digital media. When comparing both countries, results reveal that India has more institutionalized and organized digital diplomacy. In terms of departmental use of social media, the digital diplomacy division and foreign office of India is more active than other government departments in that nation. Meanwhile, Pakistan's military public relations office and press office is more active than its other government departments. In conclusion, both countries realize the potential of social media in digital diplomacy, but still lack engagement with foreign audiences.

    • In this study, we analyzed the contents of pi and the area of a circle presented in Korean, Japanese, Singapore, and American mathematics textbooks, and drew implications for the teaching of pi and the area of a circle in school mathematics. We developed a textbook analysis framework by theoretical discussions on the concept of the pi based on the various properties of pi and the area of a circle based on the central ideas of measurement and the previous researches on pi and the area of a circle in elementary mathematics. We drew five suggestions for improving the teaching of pi and three suggestions for improving the teaching of the area of a circle in Korean elementary schools.
