  • Purpose: To evaluate community health nursing practice by nursing students for basic data to improve nursing practice education, and to determine the clinical practice experiences of nursing students at public health centers. Method: According to methodological triangulation, all data was collected from March 2001 to June 2001 through prepared questionnaires with 62 Participants, and in depth interviews with 2 Participants, and content analysis with 8 Participants. Results: 1. Clinical practice content was needed to make up professionally. 2. Clinical practice instructor was satisfied with teaching by community health nursing professor, but not by public health center nurse. 3. Clinical environment was perceived as good. 4. Clinical practice time was perceived suitable, but practice evaluation was given a low grade. 5. Experience of nursing students was grouped into 9 categories and 20 themes. 9 Categories are as follows: change of public health center image, difficulty in the personal relationship, positive personal relationships, doubt about the attitude, doubt about the task, tension, worth, ambivalance of the conference, feeling about the end stage of the clinical practice. Twenty themes are stereotypic of the public health care center: recognition, difficulty between tasks and interrelationships with the clients, decrease of self esteem due to deficiency of trust with the students, exchange of feelings in the relationships, the situation of clients was not considered, feelings were disregarded, not systematic, regarding students as supplementory manpower, independent work but not enough contents, anxiety & fear, self-trust, be skilled in the practice, pragmatic knowledge formation, understanding of the old person, self-study of oneself. live up to the expectation, consider as the job, dissolve the stress and impose burden, feeling the lack regarding active approach in the practice. Conclusion: The students have perceived the need of community health nursing through the clinical practice. Clinical practice of community health nursing requires content supplement, correction of instruction by public center nurses, environmental alteration, evaluation criteria set up. • The studies regarding soil bacterial community and correlation analysis of wild-simulated ginseng cultivation area are insufficient. The purpose of this study was to investigate the correlation between soil bacterial community and growth characteristics of wild-simulated ginseng for selection of suitable cultivation area. The bacterial community was investigated by high throughput sequencing technique (Illumina platform). The correlation coefficient between soil bacterial community and growth characteristics were analyzed using Spearman's rank correlation. The soil bacterial community from soil samples of 8 different wild-simulated ginseng cultivated area exhibited two distinct clusters, cluster 1 and cluster 2. The relative abundance of Proteobacteria (35.4%) and Alphaproteobacteria(24.4%) was observed to be highest in all soil samples. The lower soil pH and higher abundance of Acidobacteria resulted in increased growth of wild-simulated ginseng. Additionally, abundance of Acidobacteriia (class) and Koribacteraceae (family) demonstrated significant positive correlation with fresh weight of wild-simulated ginseng. The results of this study clearly state the correlation between growth characteristic and soil bacterial community of wild-simulated ginseng cultivation area, thereby offering effective insight into selection of suitable cultivation area of wild-simulated ginseng.

  • This study aims to comprehensively understand the dynamics of the community network of Community Child Centers and further find out the measures to activate its community network based on the Systems Thinking. The contents of the study are as follows. Firstly, it examines the existing studies on the community network of Community Child Centers and presents the major variables to understand the situation of its community network. Secondly, it analyzes the structure of its causation in order to understand the dynamics of its community network. Lastly, it concludes with the suggestions to activate its community network based on its feedback structure presented in the causal loop diagrams. This study is expected to make a useful and basic material as the first research to dynamically understand the community network issue of the Community Child Centers.

  • In apartment complexes of Korea shared space becomes more and more important since it promotes social relationship among neighbors and also as a ecological point of view. After the Green Building system was introduced in the society, it attracted more attentive as an essential component for sustainable community. Now, it's expected the shared space plan or the community center plan will be a hot issue in the society. Therefore, we could see an aspect of the gradual change related to housing culture in Korea and make a prediction how to develop the shared space as researching domestic leading studies about the 'shared space'. The purpose of this study is to identify the trend of academic achievement as shared spaces. 14 books and 43 studies are searched and each of them are divided into according to the subject. The concept of the shared space was introduced in a holistic moment and the design plans were presented in books in the early 1990's, and total community center it was introduced. The studies are naturally divided into 4 parts as time passed that are characteristics of the block planning in the complex, the needs of the shared space, the actual condition of the using shared space, and the case studies of the shared space. The shared spaces under the structure of the community center are expected to be developed in a more elaborate way to cope with increasingly well-being needs.

  • Objectives: This paper aims to describe a public health planning model, Mobilizing for Action through Planning and Partnership(MAPP), and to discuss its application in Korea with a specific focus on the Local Public Health System (LPHS) component of MAPP. Methods: Literature content review was performed on research papers on MAPP development and application, MAPP handbook and guides, the guidelines for the 5th Phase Community Health Plan, and a research report on public health center evaluation system. Results: MAPP has been applied to public health planning (the 5th Phase Community Health Plan) and a performance evaluation system for public health center in Korea. The current application is limited to the early stages of the MAPP. Limited or partial application affects the integrity of the model. Follow-through should be strengthened especially for evaluation planning. Conclusion: Systems thinking approaches should be considered for the development of LPHS and strengthening logical and practical linkage between planning and evaluation of community health planning.

  • This study is to identify the effects of hypertension management program at a community health center on the disease-related knowledge, self-efficacy, anthropometric measurements and blood pressure of a hypertensive patient in local community. This study is a quasi-experimental study using nonequivalence control group no-synchronized design in order to verify the effects of the hypertension management program at a community health center on the hypertension-related knowledge, self-efficacy, anthropometric measurements and blood pressure of a hypertensive patient in local community. The result indicated a significant difference between the experimental group and control group in the scores of hypertension-related knowledge (t=-4.25, p<.001), self-efficacy (t=-4.20, p<.001), systolic blood pressure (t=7.70, p<.001) and diastolic blood(t=5.91, p<.001), body weight(t=2.32, p=.026) and abdominal circumference(t=2.17, p=.036). The hypertensive patients' knowledge and self-efficacy were improved, and their weight and abdominal circumference as well as systolic blood pressure and diastolic blood pressure were reduced. Therefore, it was confirmed that multilateral approaches in terms of physical and psychosocial aspects only targeting hypertensive patients were required for managing hypertensive patients in local community.
