To elucidate demersal organism community structure, abundance, and biomass by period and region in the Uljin marine ranching area, otter trawl surveys were conducted at six stations from February 2008 to December 2009. During the survey period, a total of 118 species was collected in the Uljin marine ranching area, including 76 pisces, 27 mollusca and 15 crustaceans. The average abundance of individuals was 806 ind./$m^2$ and average biomass was 31,853 g/m2. The numbers of species, species richness, individuals per area and biomass per area were higher in 2009 than in 2008. Cluster and MDS analysis, based on a Bray-Curtis similarity matrix of fourth root transformed data of number of species and individuals per area, showed division into two different groups of demersal organisms in 2008 (Group 1) and one demersal organism community in 2009 (Group 2). From cluster and MDS analysis using the similarity of the demersal community among six stations, the Uljin marine ranching area was divided into Group A (St. 2, St. 4, St. 5 and St. 6) and Group B (St. 1 and St. 3).
Objective: The provision of pharmaceutical care service in compliance with good pharmacy practice (GPP) standards is important, but there is lack of studies to investigate the barriers that significantly hinder community pharmacies in Korea from adhering to the standards. This study was aimed to identify the major barriers to provision of pharmaceutical care service in compliance with the proposed pharmacy practice standards which have been developed based on the GPP standards recommended jointly by WHO and FIP. Methods: Questionnaires reviewed by the expert committee were posted for 32 days on the website which is most frequently accessed by community pharmacists. The respondents completed them by checking the scores (Max=5, Min=1) for major barriers to provision of pharmaceutical care service focusing on patient information management and drug use review process in prescription fillings. The answered scores were automatically collected using online data processing. Mean differences between scored data were assessed by ANOVA. Results: Total 321 pharmacists participated in the survey. Results indicated that 'difficulty of diagnosis identification' (m=3.92, SD=1.21), 'lack of time' (m=3.48, SD=1.22) and 'lack of updated clinical information' (m=3.17, SD=1.10) were the major barriers to provision of pharmaceutical care service in patient information management. The main barriers to drug utilization review were 'lack of time' (m=3.32, SD=1.21), 'lack of updated clinical information' (m=3.11, SD=1.17), and 'negative feedbacks or refusals from prescribers' (m=3.00, SD=1.38). There were significant differences among the groups by location, employed number of pharmacists and acceptability to the proposed GPP standards. Conclusion: Difficulties in managing patient clinical information and lack of time were found to be the major barriers in providing pharmaceutical care services in community pharmacies in Korea. Further research is recommended to determine ways to reduce these barriers in order to provide quality pharmaceutical care service that is in compliance with the internationally recognized GPP guidelines.
Purpose: This study investigated hand-washing practice among community-dwelling older adults during the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic and aimed to identify the impact of COVID-19-related concerns and depression on hand-washing practice. Methods: This was a secondary analysis of data extracted from the 2020 Community Health Survey. The primary data were collected through self-reporting from August 10 to September 8, 2020 in a cross-sectional study. The subjects comprised of 1,350 adults aged 65 or older living in Jeju Province who participated in the 2020 Community Health Survey. Results: The factors affecting hand-washing practice among older adults were male older adults (β = -.18, p < .001), age (β = -.07, p = .001), no education (β = -.20, p < .001) and elementary, middle, and high school graduation (β = -.15, p < .001) compared to a college or higher education, poor health perception (β = -.13, p < .001), COVID-19-related concerns (β = .08, p = .005), and depression (β = -.07, p = .001). To summarize, the factors negatively affecting hand-washing practice included male gender, lower education level, poor health perception, and depression. In contrast, factors positively associated with hand-washing practice included COVID-19-related concerns. Conclusion: These findings show the importance of considering these multifaceted determinants when designing targeted interventions and educational programs to promote hand-washing among older adults. Additionally, based on the relationship between hand-washing practice and COVID-19-related concerns and depression, interventions that can alleviate mental problems along with providing proper education are required.

Objectives: Parkinson's disease is one of the most common neurodegenerative diseases in the elderly population. In order to estimate the prevalence of Parkinson's disease in the community, the application of a good screening tool is essential. We evaluated the validity and reliability of a Parkinson's disease screening questionnaire and propose an alternative measure to improve its validity for use in community surveys. Methods: We designed the study in a three-phase approach consisting of a screening questionnaire, neurologic examination, and confirmatory examination. A repeated survey was administered to patients with disease detected in the community and on 150 subjects. We examined internal consistency using Cronbach's alpha test, test-retest reliability using the kappa statistic, and validity using sensitivity, specificity, and ROC curves. Unadjusted odds ratios were utilized for the estimation of weights for each questionnaire item. Results: The Cronbach's alpha of the questionnaire was 0.708. The kappa statistic for test-retest reliability was good to generally fair in most of the items. When newly proposed weighting scores were used, the optimum cut-off value was 7/8. When cut-off value was 5/6 for surveying prevalence in a community, the sensitivity was 0.98, and the specificity was 0.61, with simultaneous improvement in reliability. Conclusions: We recommend 5/6 as the ideal cut-off value for the survey of PD prevalence in community. This questionnaire designed for the Korean community could help future epidemiologic studies of PD.

Purpose: By identifying the contents of the "Empty Home Utilization & Community Revitalization Model Project" which is a pilot project of empty homes back into use in Kyoto City and analyzing the characteristics of the case housing, the purpose of this study is to find out implications and suggest improvements for the domestic empty home utilization project. Methods: The scope of the survey covers seven project sites in the period from 2014 to 2016. The research method is to derive the physical and operational characteristics of the project, through the literature reviews related to bringing empty homes back into use in Kyoto City and the field survey including the space measurement and the operator interview. Results: First, in order to succeed in bringing empty homes back into use for community revitalization, the selection process of the project and the role of the public in and after supporting the project are important. Second, the important features that are required as a physical characteristic of the project are an advantage in location and an interactive space that is available at all time like a community cafe at the entrance. Third, as an operational characteristic of the empty home utilization project, it is advantageous for the local residents to participate as a business actor or an operator, and it is the continuous use of residents and outsiders by implementing an operating program that is suitable for the characteristics of the local community. Implications: The physical and operational activation factors to bring empty homes back into use need to be included as the project screening standards. And it is necessary for the public to develop the Intermediate Support Organization and to participate in linking with residents in order to carry out the empty homes utilization project effectively.
Purpose: The study purposes were to construct and test structural equation modeling on the causal relationship of community residents' perceived quality of care, image, and role performance with satisfaction, intention to (re)visit and intention to recommend hospital. Methods: A cross-sectional survey was conducted with 3,900 community residents from 39 district public hospitals. The questionnaire was designed to collected information on personal characteristics and community awareness of public hospitals. Community awareness consisted of 6 factors and 18 items. The data were collected utilizing call-interview by a survey company. Research data were collected via questionnaires and analyzed using SPSS version 20.0 and AMOS version 20.0. Results: Model fit indices for the hypothetical model were suitable for the recommended level: ${\chi}^2=796.40$ (df=79, p<.001), GFI=.93, AGFI=.90, RMSR=.08, NFI=.94. Quality of care, image, and role performance explained 68.1% of variance in community awareness. Total effect of quality of care process factors on satisfaction (path coefficients=3.67), intention to (re)visit (path coefficients=2.67) and intention to recommend hospital (coefficients=2.45) were higher than other factors. Conclusion: Findings show that public hospitals have to make an effort to improve community image through the provision of quality care, and excellent role performance. Support for these activities is available from both Central and Local Governments.
Purpose - According to the recently changing consumer smart environment and consumer decision-making process, this study investigates the structural relationship between electronic(online) WOM information characteristics and brand community experience value types on specific brand reliability and brand transformation. In particular, the characteristics of word of mouth information and the experience value of brand community users were divided into detailed fac tors and approached. Studies of community annoyance caused by civil aircraft noise exposure were carried out in fifteen areas near Gimpo and Gimhae international airports, Korea, to accumulate social survey data in Korea and to assess the relationship between aircraft noise level and degree of annoyance. Aircraft noise levels were measured automatically by airport noise monitoring system, B&K type 3597. A social survey was carried out people living within In meters of noise measurement points, as a rule. Questionnaires were only aggregated face-to-face interviews using various questions which concerned with demographic, degree of noise annoyance, interference with daily activities and health-related symptoms. The questions of noise annoyance were answered on an 11-point numerical scale. The respondents, from 18 to 70 years of age, were randomly selected and completed the questionnaire themselves. The total number of respondents for the questionnaires was 554.
This study was conducted to estimate the prevalence of ametropias such as myopia and hyperopia from the community based population study. Another purpose of this study was to determine the association between ametropia and nutrient intake. The study subjects was 492 residents over 20 years of age residing in Kuri City. Ametropia was tested based on re(rector error using auto referactor. Nutrient intake was estimated from the dietary survey using 24 hour recall method. As a result of data analysis, the prevalence of myopia was 57% and that of hyperopia was 11%. Such a high rate of ametropia prevalence may suggest the increasing risk of eye health in a Korean society. Nutrient intake of myopia group was 5∼15% higher than that of normal group in most of the nutrients. Whereas intake of most nutrient except calcium, retinal, fiber for the hyperopia group was lower than that of normal group. The result may suggest that inbalance of nutrient intake has been related with ametropia.
