A new method is proposed to generate a 32-tupling frequency millimeter wave (MMW) with eight Mach-Zehnder modulators (MZMs) connected in parallel. Theoretical analyses and simulation experiments are conducted. The optical sideband suppression ratio (OSSR) of the obtained ±16th order optical sidebands are 61.54 dB and 61.42 dB, and the radio frequency spurious suppression ratios (RFSSRs) of the generated 32-tupling frequency MMW are 55.52 dB and 55.27 dB based on the theoretical analysis and simulation experiments, respectively; these outcomes verified the feasibility of the new method. The main parameters used to affect the stability of the generated signal are the modulation index and extinction ratio of MZM. Their effects on the OSSR and RFSSR of the generated signals are investigated when they deviate from their designed values. Compared with the other proposed methods for the generation of 32-tupling frequency MMW by MZM, our method has the best spectral purity and stability, and it is expected to have important MMW over fiber applications.

The purpose of this study was to suggest the marital communication methods for improving the quality of marriage and life for the elderly couples. For this study we considered variables affected on the marital communication of elderly couples. I investigated 394 elderly men and women living with only their spouse and analyzed data with SPSS PC WIN. The major findings were as follows: 1) The findings showed that there were high level of communication between the elderly males and females who lived with the spouses without adult children. 2) Variables that influenced the elderly couples' communication were as follows: for the elderly males, intimacy between husband and wife, self-esteem, and gender role attitude; for the elderly females, intimacy between husband and wife, health condition, tendency toward relationships, and intention to keep the elderly couple household.

Objectives : The aim of this study was to investigate the perception and needs for medical communication course in the dental hygiene students. Methods : A self-reported questionnaire was filled out by 700 dental hygiene students after receiving informed consent from October 30 to December 20, 2013. Results : A total of 652 completely answered questionnaires were analyzed. The medical communication course proved to be very important necessary that 46.6% of the students said 'probably needed.' Only 5.1% of the students answered the course is not necessary. Conclusions : The majority of the students want the medical communication course. It is desirable that we need to set up a medical communication training and systemic course.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to describe nurses' experience of health communication with doctors in the clinical fields. Methods: Eight experienced clinical nurses working in various units of general hospitals participated. Data were collected through in-depth individual interviews and analyzed using the Colaizzi' method. Results: Five themes of nurses' experience of communication were identified: exploring the speaker seriously, becoming aware of emotions and controlling them, developing relationships after lining up for battle, having superficial and withered relationships with doctors, having few resources to promote communications with doctors. Conclusion: The results of the study indicate that humanistic and warm interpersonal relationships and genuine sharing of information are necessary to ensure effective communication. Thus, practice guidelines should be re-evaluated and developed to meet the proposed standards; safety-net programs and education for health communication should also be established. Nurse managers should create a high-touch work environment.

Purpose: This study was done to examine the effects of information searches from media as communication cues for health behavior, specifically smoking, drinking liquor, cancer examinations, and regular exercise. Methods: Data were collected through a web survey with a sample size of 600 and analyzed using SPSS 18.0. Results: The results show that the newspaper as a communication cue has an effect on health behavior such as regular exercise and smoking, whereas television only affects regular exercise. Conclusion: The results indicate that there are differences between media as communication cues to improve health behavior and that messages related to health information should be exposed with cautious consideration to media choice so as to increase the effects of message. Managerial implications of the study results are suggested.

The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of small-group discussion and panel discussion as teaching and learning methods on college students' competencies of communication, problem-solving and leadership in a general education course. Participants were 52 college students, and they participated in the 13-session lessons. The data from questionnaires collected before and/or after the experiment were analyzed using a paired t-test and percent. The results were as follows. First, each 'total' competency in communication, problem-solving and leadership was increased statistically significant after the experiment. Second, in subdomains of each key competency, 'directed communication' and 'understanding the perspective of others' in communication, and 'divergent thinking', 'decision-making' and 'assessment' subdomains in problem-solving, and all subdomains in leadership were increased statistically significant after the experiment. Based on the results and students' opinions about discussions, the education implications for small-group discussion and panel discussion were discussed.

Objectives : This study analyzed job performance in local area general hospitals to look for measurable effects from educational training and/or organizational communication. Methods : For the purposes of this study, a survey was conducted of general hospital employees from 29 hospitals in Gwangju and Jeonnam. The survey period was August 22 - September 30, 2016, and 1,004 responses were used in the final analysis. Results : This study revealed that certain aspects of communication (upward,downward,vertical,orinformal) had significant effects on job satisfaction, learning transfer, and general performance. Conclusions : To improve job performance in general hospitals, employers must improve overall satisfaction by improving upon job training and internal communication. Specifically, training should be better connected to learning transfer and organizational design must encourage active communication between employees.

The purpose of this study was to analyze the effects of financial attitudes and financial communication on financial satisfaction. For this study, in 2000, questionnaires developed by the researcher were given to 320 households in Kwangju. resulting in 262 households with usuable data. The data were analyzed by various statistical methods such as frequency, percentile, correlation analysis, t-test, Anova, Multiple Regression analysis. The major findings of this study were as follows; 1) Financial attitudes were significantly different according to age and monthly savings 2) Financial communication was significantly different according to age and financial subjective variables. 3) Financial satisfaction was significantly different according to monthly income, monthly savings, monthly living costs, debt, financial subjective variables and financial communication. The set of socio- economic characteristics variables accounted for 3% of the variance in the financial satisfaction. But the addition of subjective characteristics variables, financial attitude, financial communication resulted in an $R^2$ change of 20, 23, 26%.

The purpose of this study was to identify the relation between juvenile deliquency and parent-adolescent communication, the family cohesion and adaptability as variables of psychological environment of the family. The subjects were 143 juvenile deliquents in jail, aged 16 to 19, and 347 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th grade students who resided in low income areas in Seoul and Taegu. The research data were collected by structured questionnaire. 143 juvenile delinquents and 87 students whose degree of deliquency was more than M+(0.5*S.D) were selected as the final data source. The statistical methods were frequency percentile, pearson's correlation, one-way ANOVA. Scheffe'test and multiple regression analysis. The major findings showed that (1) juvenile deliquency was significantly related to father-closed communication type. (2) juvenile deliquency was significantly related to low family cohesion and adaptability, (3) the family cohesion and adaptability was positively correlated with parent-adolescent communication. Father-adolescent communication had more important effect upon the family cohesion and adaptability than mother-adolescent communication.

Recently, mobile video communication is getting more and more popular. Visual quality and computational complexity are primary factors affecting performance of video communication. Frame rate up-conversion (FRC) is necessary for achieving high visual quality in mobile projection displays. In this paper, a FRC method using motion compensation based on block matching algorithm (BMA) with adaptive block size is proposed. In order to improve the accuracy of the estimated motion vectors, the motion vector refinement technique is proposed. Experiment results indicate that the proposed technique exhibits better performance with lower hardware complexity compared to the conventional methods.
