The Performance, Autonomy, Empowerment and Organizational Commitment of the Preceptors (프리셉터의 업무수행, 자율성, 임파워먼트, 조직몰입에 대한 연구)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the performance, autonomy, and organizational commitment of the preceptors. Methods : The sample consisted of 29 nurses in one university hospital. The data were collected through a questionnaire survey of performance, autonomy, empowerment, and organizational commitment conducted from May through August. 30, 2003. The subjects accepted preceptor training for 26 hours, which was conducted by a researcher. The contents of the training program consisted of an introduction to preceptorship, nursing organization, teaching and learning methods, interpersonal relationships, organizational management, self management, and basic nursing practice. Analysis was performed by SPSS for percentile, mean, standard deviation, and correlation using the paired t-test. Results : Our study results showed that performance, autonomy, empowerment, and organizational commitment were significantly altered by training. After education for preceptors, performance, autonomy, empowerment, and organizational commitment were all enhanced. Performance was related with empowerment, and not with autonomy. Conclusion : This study suggests that the application of preceptorship as a nursing management intervention can benefit organizational efficiency.

Effects of the Followership on Organizational Commitment, Job Satisfaction, Nursing Task Performance (간호사의 팔로워십에 따른 직무만족, 조직몰입 및 간호업무수행)

  • Purpose: This study was designed to find out the fact that the followership types of nurses would effect on job satisfaction, organizational commitment and nursing task performance. Methods: The sample consisted of 219 nurses working in 2 medical institutions. SPSS program was used for descriptive statistics, ANOVA, chi-square test, Duncan test, Pearson Correlation, and Multiple Regression. Results: In the followership type, effective follower was the largest as 47.0% and passive follower was 26.9%. Nurses who had a effective followership style had the highest level of organizational commitment, job satisfaction and those who had a passive followership style had the lowest level of organizational commitment, job satisfaction, and nursing performance. The followership was significantly related to the organizational commitment, job satisfaction and nursing task performance. The active involvement had a positive effect on the organizational commitment, job satisfaction and nursing task performance. The critical thinking had a positive effect on the job satisfaction. Conclusion: These results demonstrate that the most effective followership is effective follower. And organizational managers must take into account followership types when they develop the strategies for organizational effectiveness.

Impact of Nurses' Job Satisfaction and Organizational Commitment on Patient Safety Management Activities in Tertiary Hospitals (상급 종합병원 간호사의 직무만족도와 조직몰입이 환자안전관리 활동에 미치는 영향)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the impact of job satisfaction and organizational commitment on patient safety management activities of nurses. Methods: A cross-sectional design was adopted. The sample included 307 nurses working in three tertiary university hospitals. Data were collected during November and December, 2012, with a response rate of 93%. A 40-item patient safety management activities scale was used to measure patient safety activities. Job satisfaction and organizational commitment were also measured with established instruments and included general characteristics. Data were analyzed with PASW 18.0 program. Results: The mean score for patient safety management activities was 3.98 out of 5. Stepwise multiple linear regression indicated that organizational commitment (${\beta}$=.20, p<.001) and job satisfaction (${\beta}$=.18, p=.013) respectively predicted patient safety management activities. Especially, the addition of organizational commitment as the strongest predictor of patient safety management activities increased the associated explained variance ($R^2$ change=.11, p<.001). Conclusion: It is important for managers to create an organizational climate that promotes the organizational commitment and job satisfaction of nurses. Future studies are encouraged to replicate the findings and also to better understand patient safety management activities and personal emotional stability.

Factors Influencing Organizational Commitment and Job Satisfaction of Nurses (간호사의 직무만족과 조직몰입에 영향을 미치는 요인)

  • Purpose: This study was to identify factors that influence the organizational commitment and job satisfaction of nurses. Method: The data were collected from 1st, August until 7th, August, 2005. The subjects were 238 nurses from a general hospital in Busan. Data were analyzed with descriptive statistics, t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficient, and stepwise multiple regression using SPSS program. Result: The organizational commitment and job satisfaction was significant positive correlations with flexibility, satisfaction, competence factors and significant negative correlations with empathy factors and centralization factor. The most powerful predictors of Nurses's organizational commitment and job satisfaction was managerial strategy of organizational characteristics. And, satisfaction factors of professional self-concept, affiliative-dominant culture and conservative- dominant culture and innovative-dominant culture were powerful predictor factors. The Other powerful predictors of nurses's job satisfaction were satisfaction factors of professional Self-concept, communication and centralization factor of organizational characteristics, affiliative-dominant culture and conservative-dominant culture, professional image factor of nurse image. Conclusion: This study revealed that important factors for nurses's organizational commitment and job satisfaction. Consequently, the manager should be make effective managerial strategy and encourage that nurse have more satisfy to professional self-concept. And the manager make constant efforts to create an affiliative culture in hospital.

The Moderation Effect of Organization Trust on the Relationship between Perceptions of Organizational Politics and Job Attitudes in Hospital Employees (병원 종사자의 조직정치지각과 직무태도 관계에서 조직신뢰의 조절효과)

  • This study investigates the moderation effect that organizational trust had on the relationship between perceptions of organizational politics and organizational commitment, intention to turnover, organizational citizenship behavior by analyzing the empirical data of 716 personnels collected from university hospital in Korea. We hypothesized that perceptions of organizational politics would tended to negatively related to a high level of organizational commitment and intention to turnover, organizational citizenship behaviors, and that organizational trust would moderate the relationship between perceptions of organizational politics and outcomes. These results suggest that organizational politics of perceptions had negative impacts on organizational commitment and organizational citizenship behaviors, while perceptions of organizational politics had positive impact on intention to turnover. Furthermore, the level of organizational trust moderated the relationship between perceptions of organizational politics and outcomes. Based on these findings, implications of the research findings are discussed, and recommendation for future research and practice are provided.

Organizational and Occupational Commitment Among Physicians Working in University Hospitals (일부 대학병원 의사의 조직애착과 직업애착에 관한 연구)

  • The present study purports to examine the relationship between organizational and occupational commitment and to find the determinats of occupational commitment for salaried physicians working in hospitals. For the purpose of comparison, those of hospital administrative and clerical employees were also investigated for the purpose of comparison. The sample for jthis study consists of 77 salaried physicicas and 185 administrative and clerical employees (comparison group) from two university hospitals in Seoul and its surburbs. Data were collected by questionnaires and analyzed using ANOVA, ANCOVA, and multiple regression. The main findings of the study are as follows : 1) organizational and occupational commitment were positively correlated for both salaried physicans and clerical employees; 2) the variable of job variety had a positive impact on occupational commitment for salaried physicians; and 3) three variables of fairness of rewards, autonomy, and job variety had positive impacts for clerical employees. These findings were discussed and implications for organizational analysts and hospital administrators were suggested.

  • In this paper, we analyzed the relationship between employment stability, wage level, welfare system, working condition, job satisfaction and organizational commitment in order to find out ways to develop and competitiveness of the nano-convergence industries. Through this study, we conducted the possibility of deriving organizational commitment by job satisfaction which is given through employment stability, wage level, welfare system, and working condition for continuing their work life. In order to find relationships between each concepts, we used a multiple regression analysis with job satisfaction and commitment as dependent variable and employment stability, wage level, welfare system, and working condition as independent variables. Through this study, it was expected to increase the organizational commitment through the job satisfaction of the employees if a changing method of employees management is centered on some tasks suggested for the sound working condition and efficient utilization policies.

A Study on The Effect of Organizational Culture on Job Satisfaction and Organizational Commitment In ICT Enterprises (ICT 기업의 조직문화가 조직구성원 직무만족과 조직몰입에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study puts stress on effects of job satisfaction and organizational commitment depending on the type of organizational culture of ICT enterprises. This study utilized the 6th Human Capital Corporate Panel(HCCP) data from Korea Research Institute for Vocational Education & Training to analyze the effects of organizational culture in ICT enterprises on the job satisfaction and organizational commitment. The Samples are managers, supervisor, and employees in ICT industries who replied thorough the 6th HCCP. Answers from 875 people, except inappropriate answers, were used to test a hypothesis. In order to do that, reliability analysis and correlation analysis and regression analysis, utilizing the SPSS 24.0 & Amos 18.0, were used to analyze the effects of organizational culture on the job satisfaction and organizational commitment in ICT enterprises. With the purpose of this study, organizational cultures in ICT enterprises have different effects on job satisfaction and organizational commitment. The group culture, development culture, rational culture and hierarchy culture have a positive effects on job satisfaction. And the group culture, development culture and rational culture have a positive effects on organizational commitment. Whereas, hierarchy culture have no effects on organizational commitment. Also, job satisfaction have a positive effects on organizational commitment. Among four cultures of ICT enterprises, the importance of group culture should be stressed. According to the result of empirical analysis, group culture has the most positive impact on job satisfaction, contrary to the expectation that development culture might be the one. So far, the group culture, which emphasizes organizational flexibility, integration, trust, teamwork, high participation, royalty and morale, have positive impact on the organizational employees the most.

The Effect of Radiological Technologist Organizational Culture, Leadership and Organizational Commitment on Organizational Satisfaction (방사선사의 조직문화 및 리더십, 조직몰입이 조직만족에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to survey and analyze the effects of organizational culture, leadership and organizational commitment on organizational satisfaction among radiological technologist working in hospitals in Busan. As a result, the scores of organizational culture, organizational commitment and job satisfaction of the tertiary university hospital were significantly higher (p<0.05, p<0.001). In the group with no turnover experience, the organizational commitment, job satisfaction, and organizational effectiveness scores were significantly higher (p<0.05). Job satisfaction scores of the department of nuclear medicine were significantly higher (p<0.05). Hierarchical regression analysis showed that organizational commitment had the highest impact on job satisfaction of radiological technologist (β=0.564, p<0.001). radiological technologist play a large part in hospital tissues in the diagnosis of disease. Therefore, based on the results of this study, it is helpful to analyze the relationship between the radiological history, organizational culture, leadership and organizational commitment in order to improve the job satisfaction of radiological technologists.

Effect of Psychological Empowerment on Turnover Intention through Job Satisfaction and Organizational Commitment: focus on Korea, China, Japan Employees

  • Purpose - The present research is to investigate the effect of psychological empowerment on turnover intention through job satisfaction and organizational commitment. Research design, data, and methodology - These include turnover intention as dependent variable, psychological empowerment as an independent variable and for mediating variables job satisfaction and organizational commitment. Also nationality of employee is used as a moderating variable. Survey data was collected was total 886 respondents from 345 Korean, 313 Chinese, 228 Japanese. Data analysis was conducted with SPSS to test reliability of variables with Cronbach's alpha and one variable confirmatory factor analysis to test common method bias. And regression analysis was conducted to confirm relationship among variables. AMOS was used for path analysis and to analysis moderating effect of employees' country. Results - The results of regression indicate that psychological empowerment increase job satisfaction, affective commitment, normative commitment and turnover intention. Job satisfaction, affective commitment and normative commitment decrease turnover intention. As for the moderating role of country, it seems that country does matter. Conclusions - Main conclusions of this research implicate that to decrease employee turnover intention company need to manage psychological empowerment, job satisfaction, and organizational commitment. Also there is need to consider similarity and difference in managing employees of Korea, China and Japan employees. Manager need to verify direction and importance of each antecedent then apply to employees.
