A Prototype of Three Dimensional Operations for GIS

  • According to the development of computer technology, especially in 3D graphics and visualization, the interest for 3D GIS has been increasing. Several commercial GIS softwares are ready to provide 3D function in their traditional 2D GIS. However, most of these systems are focused on visualization of 3D objects and supports few analysis functions. Therefore in this paper, we design not only a spatial operation processor which can support spatial analysis functions as well as 3D visualization, but also implement a prototype to operate them. In order to support interoperability between the existing models, the proposed spatial operation processor supports the 3D spatial operations based on 3D geometry object model which is designed to extend 2D geometry model of OGIS consortium, and supports index based on R$^*$-Tree. The proposed spatial operation processor can be applied in 3D GIS to support 3D analysis functions.

  • This paper deals with an automated computer-aided process planning and die design system by which designer can determine operation sequences even if they have a little experience in process planning and die design for axisymmetric products. An attempt is made to link programs incorporating a number of expert design rules with the process variables obtained by commercial FEM softwares, DEFORM and ANSYS, to form a useful package. The system is composed of four main modules. The process planning and the die design modules consider several factors, such as the complexities of preform geometry, punch and die profiles, specifications of available multi former, and the availability of standard parts. They can provide a flexible process based on either the reduction in the number of forming sequences by combining the possible two processes in sequence, or the reduction of deviation of the distribution on the level of the required forming loads by controlling the forming ratios. Especially in die design module an optimal design technique and horizontal split die were investigated for determining appropriate dimensions of components of multi-former die set. It is constructed that the proposed method can be beneficial for improving the tool life of die set at practice.

  • In these days it is rapidly increasing that multi-user, multi-layered commercial software developments for companies or public institutions. Security services are necessary for most of systems and the access control service is the essential of security services. Current access control methods that are used as access control policies are classified as Discretionary Access Control Mandatory Access Control and Role Based Access Control. However there are some inefficiencies when those methods are applied to current multi-user, multi-layered systems. Therefore it is required that a new access control method that takes complex system resources into account from the side of policy. In this paper extending previous Role Based of 'Behavior' and a basic model of the method. And we simply implement the method on the mobile agent based workflow management system that is a representative example of multi-user. multi-layered softwares and shows implementation results to tap possibilities of real-world application.

Analysis of Inquiry Tendency in 'Problem-Solving Method and Process' Sections in the 2009 Authorized Informatics Textbooks (2009년 검정교과서로 채택된 '정보' 교과서 '문제 해결 방법과 절차' 영역 구성의 탐구적 경향 분석)

  • The 2007 revised curriculum designated information-related subjects informatics and changed the direction of education by stressing problem-solving skills in consideration of the characteristics of the subject. The purpose of this study was to examine whether the problem-solving method and process sections of informatics textbooks had an inquiry tendency to foster the problem-solving skills of students. Four textbooks that were widely selected from among the authorized textbooks were analyzed by utilizing Romey method. As a result, just one textbook was found to have an inquiry tendency in terms of texts, but every textbook had a sufficient inquiry tendency in terms of activities. But in terms of structure, there were some problems that commercial softwares were utilized and some softwares employed a particular programming language. The findings of the study suggest that no question should be posed about intrinsic inequality in conjunction with textbook selection, and that textbooks should be structured not to make students adversely affected by learning environments.

A Network-Distributed Design Optimization Approach for Aerodynamic Design of a 3-D Wing (3차원 날개 공력설계를 위한 네트워크 분산 설계최적화)

  • An aerodynamic design optimization system for three-dimensional wing was developed as a part of the future MDO framework. The present design optimization system includes four modules such as geometry design, grid generation, flow solver and optimizer. All modules were based on commercial softwares and programmed to have automated execution capability in batch mode utilizing built-in script and journaling. The integration of all modules into the system was accomplished through programming using Visual Basic language. The distributed computational environment based on network communication was established to save computational time especially for time-consuming aerodynamic analyses. The distributed aerodynamic computations were performed in conjunction with the global optimization algorithm of response surface method, instead of using usual parallel computation based on domain decomposition. The application of the design system in the drag minimization problem demonstrated considerably enhanced efficiency of the design process while the final design showed reasonable results of reduced drag.

The Region Analysis of Document Images Based on One Dimensional Median Filter (1차원 메디안 필터 기반 문서영상 영역해석)

  • To convert printed images into electronic ones automatically, it requires region analysis of document images and character recognition. In these, regional analysis segments document image into detailed regions and classifies thee regions into the types of text, picture, table and so on. But it is difficult to classify the text and the picture exactly, because the size, density and complexity of pixel distribution of some of these are similar. Thu, misclassification in region analysis is the main reason that makes automatic conversion difficult. In this paper, we propose region analysis method that segments document image into text and picture regions. The proposed method solves the referred problems using one dimensional median filter based method in text and picture classification. And the misclassification problems of boldface texts and picture regions like graphs or tables, caused by using median filtering, are solved by using of skin peeling filter and maximal text length. The performance, therefore, is better than previous methods containing commercial softwares.

  • The signal processing is a field of the electrical engineering but it is very much related with the time series analysis. Thesedays the commercial softwares are widely used by the reseachers. We have attempted to make a guide for using the R-package in the digital signal processing. It would be good to read the materials in each section first and to follow the plots in the section 8 and to run the attached R-codes. The article consists of (1) Fourier transform and Fourier inverse transform, (2) spectral analysis (3) parametric and non-parametric estimation for the period (4) filter design. Simple theoretical explanations are provided and R implementations are added.

Document Image Layout Analysis Using Image Filters and Constrained Conditions (이미지 필터와 제한조건을 이용한 문서영상 구조분석)

  • Document image layout analysis contains the process to segment document image into detailed regions and the process to classify the segmented regions into text, picture, table or etc. In the region classification process, the size of a region, the density of black pixels, and the complexity of pixel distribution are the bases of region classification. But in case of picture, the ranges of these bases are so wide that it's difficult to decide the classification threshold between picture and others. As a result, the picture has a higher region classification error than others. In this paper, we propose document image layout analysis method which has a better performance for the picture and text region classification than that of previous methods including commercial softwares. In the picture and text region classification, median filter is used in order to reduce the influence of the size of a region, the density of black pixels, and the complexity of pixel distribution. Futhermore the classification error is corrected by the use of region expanding filter and constrained conditions.

Numerical Analysis on Heat Transfer Characteristics of a Heat Pipe Type Solar Thermal Receiver Depending on End Wall Angle Variation (고온 히트파이프식 태양열 흡수기의 후벽 각도 변화에 따른 열전달 특성의 수치해석)

  • The heat transfer characteristics of a solar high-temperature receiver with heat pipes was investigated by numerical simulation. The concentration ratio of the solar receiver ranges 1000 and the concentrated heat is required to be transported to a certain distance for specific applications. This study deals with internal geometry variation of a solar receiver incorporating high-temperature heat pipe. The isothermal characteristics in the receiver section is of major concern. The diameter of the solar thermal receiver was 120 mm and the length was 400 mm. The angle of receiver end wall was varied between $0^{\circ}$ and $45^{\circ}$. The wall thickness of the heat pipe channel was 4mm and 48 axial channels of the same dimensions were attached to the outer wall of the receiver with even spacing in the circumferential direction. The channels are changed to high-temperature sodium heat pipes. Commercial softwares were employed to deal with the radiative heat transfer inside the receiver cavity and the conduction heat transfer along the channels. The numerical results are compared and analyzed from the view Point of high-temperature solar receiver.

The Extraction of Table Lines and Data in Document Image (문서영상에서 표 구성 직선과 데이터 추출)

  • We should extract lines and data which consist of the table in order to classify the table region and analyze its structure in document image. But it is difficult to extract lines and data exactly because the lines are cut and their lengths are changed, or characters or noises are merged to the table lines. These problems result from the error of image input device or image reduction. In this paper, we propose the better method of extracting lines and data for table region classification and structure analysis than the previous ones including commercial softwares. The prposed method extracts horizontal and vertical lines which consist of the table by the use of one dimensional median filter. This filter not only eliminates the noises which attach to the line and the lines which are orthogonal to the filtering direction, but also connects the cut line of which the gap is shorter than the length of the filter tap in the process of extracting lines to the filtering direction. Furthermore, texts attached to the line are separated in the process of extracting vertical lines. This is an example of ABSTRACT format.
