민간항공조종사의 개인문화가치와 CRM수행의 관계 : 심리적 안전감의 조절효과 (The Relationship between Flight Crew's Individual Cultural Values and Crew Resource Management(CRM) Performance: Psychological Safety as a Moderator)

  • Organizational culture among flight crews has a profound impact on the individual attitude and behavior of member flight crews, and active training is conducted focusing on improving flight crews' Crew Resource Management(CRM) performance. However, adequate research and training on the relationships between flight crew's individual culture and CRM performance have not been conducted. Hence, this study examined the effect of individual cultural values on CRM performance and the moderation effect of psychological safety, with captains and first officers working for commercial airlines as participants. For the factors related to individual cultural value scale, power distance had no significant effect on CRM performance, uncertainty avoidance had a significant negative effect, and individualism had a significant positive effect. With regard to the moderation effect of psychological safety on the relationships between individual cultural values and CRM performance, a significant interaction was found between power distance and CRM performance, but not between uncertainty avoidance and CRM performance, or between individualism and CRM performance. Power distance and CRM performance exhibited a strong negative correlation in case of low psychological safety. Compared to existing research measuring the cultural characteristics of pilot groups on a national or organizational culture level, this study is uniquely valuable in that it also covers the relationship between individual cultural values of commercial airline flight crews and CRM performance.

  • 현재 국내 민간항공에서는 비행 중 기장과 부기장간에 부적절한 승무원자원관리(CRM; crew resources management)로 인한 문제가 꾸준히 발생하고 있다. 따라서 조종사 교육 시 승무원자원관리(CRM), 위협요소관리(TEM; threat & error management), 안전관리(SMS; safety management system) 및 피로위험관리(FRMS; fatigue risk management system)와 모의조종(SIM; simulator) 훈련 등을 통하여 부기장의 적극적인 역할을 강조하고 있다. 그러므로 이제는 기장의 변혁적 리더십보다는 감성적 리더십의 장점인 수평적 관계유지와 오픈 마인드(open mind), 그리고 솔선수범과 배려심 및 상호존중에 의한 반말 지양 등의 변화가 절실히 요구되고 있다. 따라서 본 논문은 민간항공의 조종실 문화 개선 방안에 대하여 기장의 변혁적 및 감성적 리더십이 부기장의 정서에 미치는 영향으로 논지를 정하고, 그에 따라 세부내용을 구성하였다.

첨가제로서 율피차 부산물과 피마자유가 리기다소나무 및 신갈나무 펠릿의 연료적 특성에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Chestnut-shell Tea Waste and Castor Oil as an Additive on Fuel Characteristics of Pellets Fabricated with Pitch Pine and Mongolian Oak)

  • This study aimed to determine the optimal conditions for fabricating pitch pine (PCP) and Mongolian oak (MOK) pellets using chestnut-shell tea waste (CSW) and castor oil (CSO) as additives. For pellets fabricated using a pilot-scale flat-die pellet mill, all moisture content (MC) was in line with A1 wood pellet standards for residential and small-scale commercial uses designated by the National Institute of Forest Science at the Republic of Korea (NIFOS), regardless of fabricating conditions; the durability of PCP pellets prepared using PCP particles with 10% MC, and CSW addition also satisfied these criteria. The moisture tolerance of PCP pellets improved with combination of 2 wt% CSW and 2-6 wt% CSO. Overall, use of 20 mesh CSW as an additive, PCP with 10% MC, and MOK with 12% MC was found to be optimal. Moreover, using CSO as an additive, high-quality PCP and MOK pellets can be fabricated by adjusting the particles to 12% MC. However, the durability of PCP and MOK pellets prepared using these conditions did not meet the wood pellet standards for residential and small-scale commercial use. Therefore, further research is needed to improve the durability of these pellets.

Measurement of Cortisol in Human Serum by Isotope Dilution Liquid Chromatography/Mass Spectrometry and a Comparison through a Proficiency Testing

  • Liquid chromatography/mass spectrometry using isotope dilution method has been established as a primary method for the measurement of cortisol in human serum. Verification of this method was accomplished by the participation in Consultative Committee for Amount of Substance-Metrology in Chemistry (CCQM) pilot study. Two levels of cortisol certified reference materials were prepared and certified by the established method. They were used as sample materials for the proficiency testing. The expanded uncertainty in the measurement of cortisol in human serum was approximately 1.2% at 95% confidence level. The results of the proficiency testing showed a good precision among the participants, but some bias to the certified values. This means that commercial field laboratories should keep traceability chain to SI unit through available reference measurement procedures and/or available reference materials.

숯가마 배가스 중 악취물질의 배출특성 (Emission Characteristics of Odor Compounds in a Charcoal Production Kiln)

  • Exhaust gas emitted as a result of the incomplete combustion of biomass in charcoal kilns includes odor compounds as well as other air pollutants such as particulate matters, sulfur and nitrogen oxides, and carbon monoxide. A number of offensive odor compounds affect quality of life. In this study, odor emissions were investigated from biomass burning in a pilot-scale charcoal kiln and a commercial-scale kiln. Complex odor from emission source reached up to 10,000 dilutions to threshold during the study period. Combustion fume was found to contain reduced sulfur compounds, aldehydes, and volatile organic compounds. Hydrogen sulfide and methyl mercaptan were the major odorants which highly contributed to the offensive odor.

  • The purpose of this paper is to define criteria to be used as part of the engineering design for an oil sands plant equipped with the steam assisted gravity drainage process. In this effort, the oil treatment process of an oil sands plant on a pilot scale was focused for detailed investigation. The thermodynamic properties of the process fluid, which is mainly composed of bitumen and water, were estimated with the CPA model. The commercial tool aspen HYSYS was used for the analysis throughout this work along with the provided input data and some necessary assumptions. From the simulation results, the heat and mass balances for a 300 BPD plant were established in order to define standard data for its modular design. In particular, the basis of design for equipment size, heat transfer areas, capital cost and operation cost was extensively discussed.

경험정서가 조종사의 위험인식에 미치는 영향: 정서조절의 상호작용 효과 (The Effect of Experience Emotion on Pilot's Risk Perception: Interaction Effects of Emotion Regulation)

  • The purpose of this study was to identify the effect of experience emotion (i.e., happy, proud, sad, fear) on the risk perception. This study also examined interaction effects of emotion regulation (i.e., reappraisal strategy, problem focused strategy) between experience emotion and risk perception. The study collected data from 168 flight crew members in Korean commercial airlines, using an online research in which an experiment of emotion manipulation and a survey were included. The results of the study found the positive effect of happiness emotion on the risk perception regarding cases 1(these cases have high possibility of negative result and low circumstance control) and the positive effect of sadness emotion on the risk perception regarding cases 2(these cases have low possibility of negative result and high circumstance control). This study also found the interaction effect of reappraisal emotion regulation strategy between the relationship of happiness and risk perception regarding cases 2. From these results, the study provided that theoretical and practical implication that happiness and sadness emotion contribute risk perception and reappraisal strategy has a moderating role in the relationship between happy emotion and risk perception. Finally, based on these results, the limitations of this study and future research were discussed.

고효율 열 탈수장치 개발에 관한 연구 (A Study for Developing the Thermal Dehydrator)

  • A generation rate of sludge in Korea had increased dramatically about $200\%$ for a decade. A requirement for high efficiency dewatering system being possible to produce the low water content cake have suggested due to the appearance of commercial and social problems about handling of dewatered cake. The conventional dewatering system with mechanical compression device was not suitable to produce the low water content cake and didn't cope with lots of requirements. Therefore, this paper was to develop the high efficient filter press with the compressive and heating forces through the heating plate to be built between membrane fillet plates. It is possible to produce the low water content cake and improve the dewatering rate, so this equipment positively coped with several types of problems related to the sludge dewatering. The plate heated by heat transfer materials such as steam, hot water and thermo-oil made the sludge make the residual moisture within the cake to discharge easily and to improve the dewatering efficiency of equipment. The pilot scale experiment with 500kg of cake production showed that the dewatering efficiency determined by the final water content and dewatering velocity was improved $30\%$ more than the conventional dewatering equipment.

  • 최근 유비쿼터스 컴퓨팅에 대한 연구가 활발해지면서 무선 센서 네트워크는 설치의 용이함과 저렴한 구축비용으로 다양한 분야에 널리 사용되고 있다. 현재 상용화 되어 있는 산간 지역에서 사용가능한 균열 예측 시스템은 구축 방법이나 비용면에서 많은 부담이 되고 있다. 이에 대한 대안으로 저비용의 상용화된 무선 센서 네트워크를 이용한 사면 균열 예측 시스템을 제안한다. 제안 시스템은 센서 노드를 절벽이나 사면, 바위, 둑 등에 부착하기 쉽고 지형물의 원형 손상을 최소화 할 뿐만 아니라 설치 및 유지 보수비용이 기존의 시스템에 비하여 약 50% 정도에 불과한 장점을 갖는다.

교구로봇 호환성을 위한 체결구 부품 설계에 관한 연구 (A Study on Designing Key Fastening Parts for Compatibility of Teaching-Aids-Robots)

  • This paper deals with researching and designing the fastening parts to be used in order to assemble various Teaching Aids Robots (or Hands-on Robots) with originally incompatible parts supplied by different manufacturers. The suggested fastening parts provide the compatibility among Teaching Aids Robots even though the educational robot customers use incompatible parts from different companies. The designed fastening parts are classified into four set groups such as frame set, sliding-bar set, connector set, and set of chuck and rivet/bolt. Each set of the fastening parts reflects the needs collected from the users, and then some portion of new idea has been added to implement the needs. In this paper, the examples of the Teaching Aids Robots which are assembled with both commercial parts and the designed parts are presented in order to evaluate the compatibility and usability of the suggested fastening parts. As a result, both compatibility and usability of the fastening parts suggested in this paper were proved. The designed fastening parts have been distributed to more than 100 elementary schools nationwide.
