  • Advanced Real-Time Satellite Simulator(ARTSS) has been developed to support the telemetry, tracking and command operations of the ETRI satellite control system and to provide satellite engineers a more powerful and informative satellite simulations tool on the desktop. To provide extensive simulation functions for a communication satellite system in the pre-operational and operational missions, ARTSS uses a geosynchronous orbit(GEO) satellite model consisting of the attitude and orbit control subsystem, the power subsystem, the thermal subsystem, the telemetry, command and ranging subsystem, and the communications payload subsystem. In this paper, the system features and functions are presented and the satellite subsystem models are explained in detail.

  • This paper describers a look ahead algorithm of PC-NC(personal computer numerical control). The algorithm is based on acceleration/deceleration before interpolation which doesn\`t include a command error and determines a feedrate value at the end point of each block(or start point of each block). The algorithm is represented as following; 1) calculating two maximum arrival feedrates(F$_1$,F$_2$) by an acceleration value, a command feedrate, and the distance of a NC block, 2) getting a tangent feedrate (F$_3$) of the adjacent blocks, 3) choosing a minimum value among these three feedrates, and 4) setting the value to a feedrate of a start point of the next block(or a end point of the previous block). The proposed look ahead algorithm was implemented and tested by using a commercial TROS(real time operation system) on the MS-Windows NT 4.0 in a PC platform. For interfacing to a machine, a counter board, a DAC board and a DIO board were used. The result of the algorithm increased a machining precision and a machining speed in many short blocks.

  • In this paper, we propose a new discrete-time predictive current controller for a PMSM(Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor). The main objectives of the current controllers are to ensure that the measured stator currents tract the command values accurately and to shorten the transient interval as much as possible, in order to obtain high-performance of ac drive system. The conventional predictive current controller is hard to implement in full digital current controller since a finite calculation time causes a delay between the current sensing time and the time that it takes to apply the voltage to motor. A new control strategy in this paper is seen the scheme that gets the fast adaptation of transient current change, the fast transient response tracking and is proposed simplified calculation. Moreover, the validity of the proposed method is demonstrated by numerical simulations and the simulation results will be verified the improvements of predictive controller and accuracy of the current controller.

  • The new controller which conststs of IBM-PC/AT, SBC, servo module and motor driver has been developed for KIMMBOT II robot. The servo module which controls two axes at the same time also has beendeveloped. This module inputs relative number of pulse and feedrate via multbus, after then outputs analog command voltage with reference to feedback pulses from the encoder of a motor. This system has a great flexibility. The reduction of parts gives more reliability.

  • MSC is being developed to be installed on KOMPSAT(Korea Multi-Purpose Satellite-II and to provide high resolution multi-spectral. MSC consists of three main subsystems. One is EOS(Electro-Optics Subsystem), another is PMU(Payload Management Unit) and the other is PDTS(Payload Data Transmission Subsystem). There is an SBC(Single Board Computer) in the PMU to control all MSC subsystems. SBC incorporates Intel 80486 as a main processor and VxWorks as a real-time operating system. SBC software consists of four main tasks and several modules to deal with all control information for imaging and all the state of health telemetrv data, and to perform interface with another MSC units. SBC software also has to handle a lot of commands in order for MSC to perform his mission.   • A direct digital control technique of a current source using the phase-controlled rectifier is presented. A digital firing technique without sensing the line voltage is proposed. This scheme generates firing pulses directly from error signal between command and output voltage. Thus the phase detection transformers filters and zero-crossing detector are unnecessary. The synchronism is modeled and analized. Also a software synchronization algorithm is presented without a look up table and controls the system in real time with fast dynamic characteristics. Using the single-chip microprocessor 8097BH, the direct digital control is implemented with minimal hardware structure. Using the time-weighted performance index, the optimal discrete IPM control technique is also proposed to control the current of the PCR.

  • This paper proposes a common platform for an internet-based mobile robot and its operator terminal. The common platform can reduce the cost and time to develop an internet-based robot and its operator terminal. The robot performs the role of a server and its terminal a client. One operator can use this terminal to make a command and this command can be sent to the robot through a wireless network. According to given commands, the robot moves a point and sends an image by using a camera or desired information by using other sensors. The information sent from the robot can help an operator to control the robot. The mobile robot consists of two modules, main module and motion module. Main module can exchange information with the operator terminal, process information, and send a command to motion module. Each application program for one internet-based mobile robot and its operator terminal will be developed to show that the same platform can be used for them. Also, it will be shown that the robot can be controlled easily by using its operator terminal.

  • A small size and light-weight DSP board is newly designed for a real time multi-distributed control system that overcomes constraints on time and space. There are a variety of protocols for a real-time distributed control system. In this research, we selected CAN for the multi distributed control, which was developed by the BOSCH in the early 1980's. If CAN and Internet are connected together, the system attains the characteristics of a distributed control system and a remote control system simultaneously. To build such a system. The TCP/IP-CAN Gateway which converts a CAN protocol to TCP/IP protocol and vice verse, was designed. Moreover, the system is required to be small and light-weighted for the high mobility and cost effectiveness. The equipment in remote place has a TCP/IP-CAN Gateway on itself to be able to communicate with another systems. The received commands in the remote site are converted from TCP/IP protocol to CAN protocol by the TCP/IP-CAN Gateway in real time. A simulation system consists of a TCP/IP-CAN Gateway in remote place and a command PC to be connected to Ethernet.

  • TDC(Time Delay Control) deals with the time-varying system parameters, unknown dynamics and unexpected disturbances using time delay. TDC can be divided into two separate parts: an auxiliary controller and a servo controller. The two controllers can be designed independently. The auxiliary controller is used to reduce sensitivity to parameter variations, nonlinear effects, and other disturbances. The servo controller is to reduce the error between the desired command and output. We propose the model-following time delay controller with modified error feedback controller. This was applied to follow the desired reference model for the uncertain time-varying overhead crane. The model generates the damped-out swinging motion trajectory to suppress the swinging motion caused by the acceleration and the deceleration of crane transportation. The control performance was evaluated through simulations. The theoretical results indicate that this control method shows excellent performance to an overhead crane with the uncertain time-varying parameters.
