Study on Development of Hospital Service Robot SmartHelper (병원용 서비스 로봇 SmartHelper 개발에 관한 연구)

  • This paper addresses a control architecture for the hospital service robot, SmartHelper. With a sensing-reasoning-acting paradigm, the deliberation takes place at planning layer while the reaction is dealt through the parallel execution of operations. Hence, the system presents both a hierarchical and an heterarchical decomposition, being able to show a predictable response while keeping rapid reactivity to the dynamic environment. The deliberative controller accomplishes four functions which are path generation, selection of navigation way, command and monitoring. The reactive controller uses fuzzy and potential field method for robot navigation. Through simulation under a virtual environment IGRIP, the effectiveness of the control architecture is verified.

  • A multiple controller structure consisting of a typical feedback controller and an additive redundant controller is proposed for enhancing the reliability of the control system. For the case where the main controller is chosen as a pole assignment controller with input/output measurements and the redundant controller as the Model Reference Adaptive Controller (MRAC) whose reference model is the closed-loop combination of the plant and the main controller, it is proven that the tracking error between the command input and plant output converges to zero under failure in one of the controllers or parameter perturbations of the plant, and further that the reliability measured by Mean Time To Failure (MTTF) is greater than that of the system with only a single main controller. A simulation Example is provided to illustrate reliable operation of the proposed control system against the controller failure.

  • In this paper, we propose a new discrete-time predictive current controller for a PM-LSM(permanent magnet linear synchronous motor). The main objectives of the current controllers are to ensure that the measured stator currents tract the command values accurately and to shorten the transient interval as much as possible, in order to obtain high-performance of ac drive system. A new control strategy is seen the scheme that gets the fast adaptation of transient current change, the fast transient response tracking and is proposed simplified calculation. Moreover, the simulation results will be verified the improvements of predictive controller and accuracy of the current controller.

  • The windup phenomenon appears and degrades control performance when a controller with integrating action is used and plant input is limited. An anti-windup integal-proportional(IP) controller is proposed for the variable-speed moter drives and it is experimentally applied to the speed control of a vector-controlled induction moter driven by a pulse width modulated (PWM) voltage source inverter (VSI). The consistency range of the IP controller is firstly derived and the intergal state is controlled to salisfy always the consistency range according to whether the the controller output is saturated or not. Although the operating condition like moter load or speed command is changed under the limited plant input, It is expermentally verified that the speed response has much improved performance, such as no overshoot and fast settling time, and the maximmum plant input is also effectively utilized.

  • Recently, Bluetooth has been regarded as a new technology for short-range wireless connection. Although initial application of Bluetooth technology has been focused mainly on replacing cables between hand-held devices due to a limited packet size and short-range, general wireless telecommunication such as PAN and Ad hoc networks via Bluetooth-equipped devices is expected to be one of the most popular applications. Wireless equipments have been used to exchange data between host and mobile unit. The exchanging data may be several bytes of control command and the value of sensors with ultra-sonic, vision sensor, and encoder from mobile robot. However, most wireless equipments have some drawbacks such as lack of authentication, large size and high price. On the other hand, the benefits of Bluetooth are small size, low power, low price except short-range. Especially, there are some difficulties when wireless modules are used in indoor environments. In this paper, a method of using wire network in Bluetooth network is investigated as a solution to overcome the short-range problem of Bluetooth and difficulty in indoor environment.

  • Recently, a new concept of telecommunication system, utilizing stratospheric platforms such as airships or airplanes, has been proposed. This system aims to provide broadband multimedia services, i.e. high-rate multimedia service, high-rate internet service, and leased line service. In this study, operation concept of the system is defined and by allocating required functions on the system and its subsystems, conceptual design of the ground control system for the stratospheric platforms is established and proposed.

  • In order for a gun-launched guided projectile to glide to the maximum range, when to deploy the fin and start flight with guidance and control should be considered in range optimization process. This study suggests a solution to the optimal guidance problem for flight range maximization of the flight model of a guided projectile in vertical plane considering the aerodynamic properties. After converting the nonlinear Multi-Phase Optimal Control Problem to Two-Point Boundary Value Problem, the optimized guidance command and the best fin deployment timing are calculated by the proposed numerical method. The optimization results of the multiple flight rounds with various initial velocity and launch angle indicate that determining specific launch condition incorporated with the guidance scheme is of importance in terms of mechanical energy consumption.

  • This paper explores the power distribution problem of parallel-connected inverter system which supplies auxiliary power for railway facilities. We propose a droop control method which facilities power distribution and restrain of voltage drop by tracking the average power control command by adjusting the virtual impedance. The performance of proposed droop method is verified by the PSIM simulation.

  • A Modified fuzzy mechanical control of large-scale multiple time delayed dynamic systems in states is considered in this paper. To do this, at the first level, a two-step strategy is proposed to divide a large system into several interconnected subsystems. And we focus on the damage propagation for aircraft structural analysis of composite materials. As a modified fuzzy control command, the next was received as feedback theory based on the energetic function and the LMI optimal stability criteria which allow researchers to solve this problem and have the whole system in asymptotically stability. And we focus on the results which shows the high effective by the proposed theory utilized for damage propagation for aircraft structural analysis of composite materials.

  • In this paper, we describe a telemetry stimulation system that controls animal-robots. In our system, we send the main control command from PC to the controller embedded in the pigeon based animal-robots. Once the controller receives the control signal, it makes biphasic stimulation pulses to medial forebrain bundle neurons to control the pigeon behavior as we want. We design the embedded controller using CUBLOC, which is lightweight for attaching on the pigeon.
