  • It is proposed a new compensation method in the rotor time constant of indirect vector controlled induction motor. The proposed scheme is an on-line method using the stator current error that is the difference between current command and estimated current calculated from terminal voltages and currents. As the current error becomes to zero, the rotor time constant in the vector controller approaches the real value. The proposed method shows good performances in the transient region as well as in the steady state region regardless of load torque variation, and it is verified by the computer simulation using SIMULINK in Matlab.

  • In optical disk drives, a conventional control method in the presence of surface defect is holding the previous tracking control command. It is known that the method has a long settling time. This paper proposes a new control method which reduces the settling time. An optical head generally has coupled dynamics between focusing and tracking servo system. We present how to compensate the coupled dynamics so that reduced settling time is achieved. It is verified by experiments that the proposed method brings an improved performance in the presence of surface defect as well as in the normal operating condition.

  • This paper deals with the control of an active bending actuator fur a catheter. The bending actuator with 40mm in length utilizes three zigzag SMA (shape memory alloy) springs which are equally located in the circumference between inner $({\phi}2.5 mm)$ and outer $({\phi}3.0mm)$ tube. It is purposed on realization of desired bending angle $(90^{\circ})$ and direction $(360^{\circ})$. It is also installed in front of the catheter and used to guide a path at extremely bent or branched blood vessel. The performance-analysis of the bending actuator are investigated fur the purpose of optimizing the control of the bending actuator. The analog joy stick is used to command a bending angle and direction for the fast and accurate response. According to the commands of the joy stick, tensile force of each SMA spring is computed and obtained by controlling the temperature of each SMA spring using PWM (pulse width modulation) of supplied electric power.

  • Torsional oscillations of the drivetrain in electric vehicles are generated under rapid driving conditions. These lead to an uncomfortable jerking of the vehicle and an increased stress of the mechanical components. To suppress torsional oscillations, the low pass and notch filters between the torque command from the acceleration pedal and electric motor input torque are suggested. The filter parameters are optimized based on Taguchi method with $L_{18}(3^5)$ orthogonal array. The signal to noise (S/N) ratio mainly depends on slew rate of motor input torque, damping ratio and natural frequency of notch filter. With the proposed suppression control scheme, the S/N ratio is shown to be increased by 4.7dB and the torque overshoot of the drive shaft is reduced to 30%.

  • The purpose of this paper is to develop the straightforward design guidelines of PD/PID speed controller for Industry servo drives with plug and play concept. The controller gains are uniquely determined from the current control loop dynamics, speed loop delay, and mechanical parameters. In order to eliminate the mechanical friction uncertainties, an automatic PD/PI control mode switching algorithm Is introduced using online spectrum analysis of motor torque command. The dynamic performance of the proposed scheme assures a fast tracking response curve with minimal oscillation and settling time over the whole operating conditions. For comprehensive comparison of conventional PI control scheme, extensive test is carried out on actual servo system.

  • According to increase of the factory-automation(FA) in the field of production, the importance of the autonomous guided vehicle's(AGV) role has also increased. This paper is about an active and effective controller which can flexibly prepare for changeable circumstances. For this study, research about an behavior-based system evolving by itself is also being considered. In this Paper, we constructed an active and effective AGV fuzzy controller to be able to carry out self-organization. To construct it, we tuned suboptimally membership function using a genetic algorithm(GA) and improved the control efficiency by self-correction and the generation of control rules.

  • The dynamics of the DDWMR depends on the velocity difference of the two driving wheels. And which is known as a type of non-holonomic equation. By this reason, the treatment of DDWMR had become difficult and conservative. In this paper, the differential-driving wheeled mobile robot is considered. The Takaki-Surgeno fuzzy model and a control method for DDWMR is presented. The suggested controller has three control elements. The first element is fuzzy state feedback designed for eliminating the dependence of time-varying parameter. The second element is weighting controller which is designed for good frequency response. The third controller is PI-controller which is designed for good command following and robustness with un-modeled dynamics. In order for achieving the performance objective, the design of controller is based on the loop-shaping algorithm.

  • This paper describes a study on the locomotion control system for a indoor-use mobile wheelchair. Three lode of operations - BASIC, AUTOMATIC and PROGRAMMED - are employed as basic algorithm building block. One-chip microcomputer 8031 is dominating the control of actuation part and it can control the range of rotating speed of the wheel both right and left by servo motor. Keyboard is employed as a command input device. This system is intended to improve the daily life of the disabled by the intelligent interactive operation scheme.

  • This paper compares input shaping techniques for controlling residual vibration of flexible structures. Input shaping generates vibration-reducing shaped commands through convolution of an impulse sequence with the desired command. Both feedforward and feedback control approaches with/without input shaper for uncertain dynamical systems are investigated to evaluate the control performances. The control objective is to achieve a fast settling time and robustness to plant uncertainty, to eliminate residual vibrations. It is shown by a series of simulation that a properly designed feedback controller with input shaper performs well, as compared with open-loop controller with input shaper.

  • This paper is concerned with attitude control of 2 rotor 1 DOF aerial vehicle. The proposed controller consists of two parts: the attitude estimation filter part and PID controller part. For attitude estimation, performance of 3 different filters (complementary filters, Kalman filter, indirect Kalman filters) are tested and compared. For the PID controller, characteristic ratio assignment methods are used to assign PID coefficients. Through experiments, it is shown that attitude of the vehicle successfully follows the step command.
