In shipyards hull forming is performed by the line heating method using a gas torch and by cold treatment using a roll-press. However, this forming process has some issues, such as difficulties in controlling and accurately estimating the amount of the heat input, as well as a harsh working environment due to exposure to loud noises and air pollution. The induction heating method, which is introduced in this paper, exhibits good control and allows for the estimation of precise heat input. Also, workers can carry out the induction heating in a comfortable working environment. In this research, the induction heating simulation, which consists of electro-magnetic, heat transfer and thermal elasto-plastic analysis, was developed and modified through induction heating experiments. Finally, the effective heating coil was designed for the automatic hull forming system based on the results of induction heating simulation. For the purposes of a future study, if an algorithm to obtain optimal working conditions is developed, automatic systems for hull forming can then be constructed.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the characteristic of the thermal environment at a living room by the heating system(floor radiation heating, forced convection heating, combined heating, radiation convection heating), and to compares the change of the thermal environment after operating the heating with after the operation stopped based on the floor radiation heating. This study proposes the basic data for the design and the development of the thermal storage structure heating system which not only utilizes fully the characteristic of the comfortable thermal environment but also reduces the preheating period and be able to use the off-peak electricity.

This is a basic study designed to discover the most comfortable thermal environment for Korean residences. The purpose of the research is to observe and measure the summer thermal environment in Korean urban detached single family houses and apartments by utilising proposed evaluation standards and methods. The technique used involves the measurement of environmental elements, such as indoor temperature, relative humidity and radiant temperature both in detached single family houses and apartments. Also, in order to understand the resident's thermal comfort response. ASHRAE' thermal sensation 9th level, indoor temperature 5th level, and thermal discomfort 4th level in the psycho-physical voting scale (1972) was used. In conclusion, among Korean urban residences, detached single family houses provided a more stable thermal environment than apartments, as shown by physical psychological evaluations. The possible reason for such stability in detached single family houses may be the usage of reinforced concrete structures which maintain consistent temperatures.

There are many attempts to make more comfortable amenity in city districts and streets to provide a soundscape design. And the sound which reflects the culture and peculiarity of characterized the street must be preserved. Thus these attempts are recognized as another noise control to give the suitable environmental sound, not to reduce noise level. This study aims to analyze the behavior of the pedestrian and sound environment of the street sound, by measuring the sound level for the Insa-Dong Traditional Culture street. As the results, it is advisable to use the natural water sound dominating the district and to provide the staying spot to watch the event to be held. The results of this study could be used as fundamental data to recover the image of Insa-Dong Traditional Culture street to consider design concept of soundscape.

Daylighting in educational environment is very important as it has an effect on students' performance as well as in their visual health. It is regarded as a good energy conservation method in saving energy used for lighting. This study conducted initial daylight measurements to analyze luminous environment in classrooms of Korean elementary school. The results indicated that the typical classroom had a reasonable level of daylight. However, it also found that the classroom had some problems of the uniformity of illuminance and the contrast of brightness of surfaces in the classroom. It is argued that daylighting design for school classroom should consider these aspects to make daylit classrooms ideal so as to provide comfortable visual environment.

The purpose of this study was to analyse on the clothing practice of automaker's uniform and to investigate the relationship between wearing sense of worker's uniform and overall comfort according to working environment and working types. The data were collected from 184 automakers using questionnaire and interview of a officer for uniform management. Working environment was relatively comfortable, but the worker in special working area needed to control the working environment and adopted the protective equipment. The dissatisfaction of clothing practice of uniform was shown high in design and material. The order of preference in the color was blue, navy, blue, gray, green. In case of taking care of uniform, sewing durability and shape stability were poor in comparison with washing easiness. The correlation between overall comfort and wearing sense of uniform as sense of wearing and taking off, texture and movement function, was relatively high, but it appeared the low correlation in physiological comfort.

This study identified satisfaction with gas heating and indoor thermal environment, targeting houses using gases for heating. 1) Thermal environment is relatively satisfactory except that indoor humidity is low. 2) A question that indoor temperature has to be decreased for saving energy was given and about two thirds of the respondents answered that temperature has to be lowered. When they were asked how to save energy 57% answered that they put on more clothes and 27% answered that they lower indoor temperature If consistent promotion on energy saving is implementer it's believed that energy can be effectively saved. 3) People wear simple clothes when they stay indoor because they think it is comfortable. However, for energy saving. they gave to wear warm clothes though they stay indoor.

Apartment and large residence buildings are necessary to ensure a comfortable noise/vibration environment. So. it must be performed a anti-vibration/noise evaluation at early design stage, such as utility room arrangement, machinery installation method and so on. In this paper. environment noise status on problem areas, which was issued by resident. was investigated to understand the noise transmission property generated from underground machinery room and to device a optimized countermeasure in order to enhance noise environment. Also, the measured noise levels before and after modification works are compared to confirm the effectiveness of proposed countermeasure.
