텀블강화형 밸브에 의한 흡기포트 및 실린더내의 유동 특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Flow Characteristics of the Intake Port and Cylinder Generated by a Tumble Intensifying Valve)

  • Gas flow field within the cylinder which is called a tumble flow is important factor in improving lean combustion stability. In this study, steady state flow tests were performed to quantify tumble ratio of flowfields generated by a tumble intensifying valve(TIV). In addition, velocity and fluctuation profiles in an intake port and flowfields in th cylinder were inspected using a hotwire anemometer and a laser light sheet method with various TIV configurations. These experimental results show that installated TIV has a great effect on flow field distribution in an intake port and test effects enhance a tumble flow in the cylinder.

입자추적법을 이용한 가솔린 기관의 실린더 내 정상유동 해석 (Analysis of In-Cylinder Steady Flow for Gasoline Engine Using Particle Tracking Velocimetry)

  • Analysis and control of intake charge motion such as swirl and tumble are very important to improve the performance of gasoline engines. In this paper, single frame double exposure PTV(particle tracking velocimetry) is used to investigate intake flow characteristic in a steady flow test rig of gasoline engine with 2-valve and pent-roof combustion chamber. To validate this PTV method, we confirmed reliability of this PTV method using chopper, and coaxial burner experiments. The velocity Held of intake flow is measured with the intake valve lift variation. It is shown that maximum flow velocity is increased and tumble flow become stronger than inverse tumble flow as valve lift increase.

  • The effect of turbulence and ignition energy on flame kernel growth in mathanol-air mixtures has been studied in a constant volume vessel. Experiments were made under different turbulent intensity conditions, ignition energy and over a range of equivalence ratio. Characteristics of turbulent flow were grasped by measurments of gas pressure and visualization of flame propagation. Flow velocity was measured by use of hot wire anemometer. A comparison of the effect of turbulence on ignition probability and flame kernel volume variation ratio is also presented.

  • Flame behaviors in meso-scale rectangular channels are largely influenced by heat recirculation through wall. In order to investigate the effects of wall thermal property on the heat recirculation and flame behaviors, meso-scale rectangular channels, of which upper and lower walls are made of quartz, stainless steel and silicon carbide and front and rear walls of quartz for flame visualization, were fabricated in this study. As a result, characteristic mixture velocities of propane-air flame, such as transition, stationary, and instability onset velocities, were measured for each channel and various mixture conditions. The results show that thermal conductivity has a close relationship to the characteristic velocities.

  • The stabilization mechanism of turbulent, lifted jet flames in a non-premixed condition has been studied experimentally. The objectives are to explain the phenomenon of a liftoff height decreasing as increasing fuel velocity and to reveal the mechanisms of flame stability Hydrogen was varied from 100 to 300 m/s and a coaxial air was fixed at 16 m/s with a coflow air less than 0.1 m/s. The technique of PIV and OH PLIF was used simultaneously with CCD and ICCD cameras. It was found that the liftoff height of the jet decreased with an increased fuel jet exit velocity. The leading edge at the flame base was moving along the stoichiometric line. Finally we confirmed that the stabilization of lifted hydrogen diffusion flames is related with a turbulent intensity, which means combustion is occurred where the local flow velocity is equal to the turbulent flame propagation velocity.

  • 레이저 추진의 개념을 이용한 공기 흡입 레이저 스파이크 엔진은 대기권 내의 비행체에 사용될 수 있다. 레이저 스파이크 엔진은 연소 과정 대신 레이저 에너지에 의해 유도된 폭풍파에 의해서 추력을 얻는다. 그리고 이 엔진은 공기를 추진제로 사용하기 때문에 추진제를 따로 탑재할 필요가 없다. 실험에서는 초음속 풍동과 스파크 발생기를 사용하였다. 2차원 레이저 스파이크 엔진 모형을 사용하여 유동을 가시화 하였으며, 동일한 형태에 대한 수치 해석을 시행하였다.

  • Shear coaxial injectors were commonly used in rocket engine combustor. They showed good combustion performance. However it is not easy to control the thrust. Pintle injectors were not as popular as the coaxial injectors so far, they have a great advantage over the coaxial injectors. That is, it is relatively easy to control the thrust. Spray characteristics of gel type propellant from movable sleeve pintle injector were investigated. Water with 0.05% of Carbopol 940 was used as gel simulant instead of kerosene gel combined with Thixarol ST for academic purpose. Experiments were performed in various temperature, pressure and pintle opening condition. The results were compared with neat liquid spray. It is also verified that the capabilites of the injector by adjusting the pintle opening.

실험실 규모 정전기 분무형 반건식 세정기의 SO2 제거효율 향상에 대한 계산 및 실험적 연구 (Numerical and Experimental Study on the Increase of Removal Efficiency of SO2 in a Laboratory Scale Electrostatic Spray Drying Absorber)

  • Spray Drying Absorber(SDA) system, where the combustion product gas is mixed with atomized limestone-slurry droplets and then the chemical reaction of $SO_2$ with alkaline components of the liquid droplets forms sulfates, has been widely used to eliminate $SO_2$ gas from coal fired power plants and waste incinerators. Liquid atomization is necessary because it can maximize the reaction efficiency by increasing the total surface area and dispersion angle of the alkaline components. First, numerical calculations using FLUENT are carried out to investigate $SO_2$ concentration distribution and thus to calculate $SO_2$ removal efficiency. So to attain the optimized spray conditions, then an electrostatic spraying system is set up and spray visualization is performed to show the effect of an electric field on overall droplet size. Next, the effect of an electric field on the concentrations of $SO_2$ is experimentally examined. Field strength is varied from -10 kV to 10 kV and configurations of conduction charging and induction charging are utilized. Consequently, the electrostatic removal efficiency of 501 increases about 30% with the applied voltage of ${\pm}10kV$ but is independent of polarity of the applied voltage. It Is also found that the conduction charging configuration results in higher efficiency of $SO_2$ removal that the induction charging configuration. Finally, the effect of slurry temperature on $SO_2$ removal is studied. The temperature influences on the electrostatic removal efficiency of $SO_2$.

직접용기주입에 따른 유체혼합에 관한 연구 (An Investigation of Fluid Mixing with Direct Vessel Injection)

  • 이 연구는 가압경수로의 원자로 다운커머내에서 과도냉각시 직접용기주입에 따른 유체혼합현상을 가압열충격의 견지에서 시험모델을 사용하여 조사한 것이다. 시험모델은 ABB-CE System80+ 원자로 구조에 근거하여 설계되었다. 이 원자로에 대한 가능성 있는 가압열충격 사고로서 콜드레그 소형파단 냉각재 상실사고와 주중기관 판단 사고가 선정되었다. 시험은 두 부분으로 구성되는데 첫째 부분은 원자로 다운커머에서 직접용기 주입수와 기존냉각재간의 유체혼합을 가시화법에 의하여 시험한 것이고, 둘째 부분은 별도의 시험모델에서 직접용기주입에 따른 열적혼합을 시험한 것이다. 가시화 시험에서는 과도적 냉각기간중 직접용기 주입수와 1차 냉각재간의 물리적 상호작용이 밝혀졌다. 열적혼합시험에서는 소형파단 냉각재 상실사고시 직접용기주입에 의한 심한 냉각현상이 다운커머내서 관찰되었다. 측정된 온도곡선은 소형파단 냉각재 상실사고에 대하여 REMIX 로드, 증기관 파단사고에 대하여는 COM-MIX-1B 코드에 의한 계산과 비교되었다.

APU용 가스터빈 엔진 분할연소기의 화염가시화 연구 (A Study of Flame Visualization of the APU Gas Turbine Engine Sector Combustor)

  • 가스터빈 연소기의 화염 특성을 알기 위하여 분할 연소기 시험을 수행하였다. 점화시험은 여러 가지 연소기 유입 공기속도와 공기과잉율에 따라 토치 점화장치를 이용하여 수행되었다. 또한, 연료를 충분히 공급한 상태에서 점화를 수행한 후 점차 연료량을 감소시켜가며 희박연소한계를 측정하였다. 실험결과, 공기과잉율 6에서 안정한 점화를 보였고 이 값은 연소기 공기 유입속도에 따라 점점 증가함을 보였다. 최소 실화한계는 연소기 공기 유입속도 40 m/s 에서 약 4였고, 이 값은 연소기 공기유입속도에 따라 약 10까지 증가함을 보였다. 화염특성 시험결과, 화염안정성은 연소기 유입속도가 커질수록 희박화염소실한계는 넓어짐을 알 수 있었고, 연소기 유입 공기속도가 약 65 m/s 에서 가장 큰 화염소실 한계를 보였다.
