우울, 불안증상을 동반한 인후두역류증 환자 한방치험 1례 (A Case Report on Laryngopharyngeal Reflux Combined with Depressive and Anxiety Disorder)

  • Objective: This study was performed to report the effect of traditional Korean medicine as a treatment for laryngopharyngeal reflux (LPR) combined with depressive and anxiety disorder. Methods: We treated this patient with traditional Korean medicine and measured symptom severity using the reflux symptom index (RSI), Beck depression inventory (BDI), and Beck anxiety inventory (BAI). Results: After 3 weeks of treatment, most symptoms had decreased. The RSI score dropped from 21 to 8, BDI from 27 to 14, and BAI from 29 to 15. Conclusions: Traditional Korean medicine may be effective as a treatment for LPR combined with depressive and anxiety disorder, and a correlation may exist between LPR and psychological factors. However, more rigorous studies are required to identify exactly what treatment is most efficient for relieving LPR combined with depressive and anxiety disorder and whether LPR and psychological factors are clearly correlated.

치은박리소파술시 metronidazole gel 병용이 유년성치주염 치료에 미치는 영향 (The effect of flap operation and metronidazole gel combined therapy on the treatment of the juvenile periodontitis)

  • The aim of the study was to investigate the effect of surgical therapy combined with the usage of metronidazole gel in the treatment of juvenile periodontitis by comparing clinical indices of flap operation along with application of metronidazole gel and flap operation only. Comparing clinical indices of the baseline, 3 months after surgery, 6 months after surgery statistically, the results are as follows; 1. Bleeding on probing (BOP) was decreased significantly both in the experimental group and the control group at 3 months after surgery (p<0.05). BOP increased 0.9% in the control group 6 months after surgery, while in the experimental group, decreased 4.7% (p>0.05). However, there was no statistically significant difference in these groups (p>0.05). 2. Pocket probing depth (PPD) was decreased significantly both in the experimental group and the control group at 3 months after surgery (p<0.05). PPD increased 0.lmm in the control group 6 months after surgery, while in the experimental group, no increase of the depth could be observed (p>0.05). However, there was no statistically significant and difference in these groups (p>0.05). 3. Loss of attachment level(LOA) was decreased significantly both in the experimental group and the control group at 3 months after surgery (p<0.05). LOA increased 0.2mm in the control group 6 months after surgery, while in the experimental group, increased 0.3mm However, there was no statistically significant difference in these groups (p>0.05). In conclusion, flap operation was effective on the treatment of juvenile periodontitis. However, combined therapy of metronidazole gel could not give rise to any significant adjunctive effect on the treatment outcome.

공공하수처리시설에서 수질오염물질 유입 및 배출 특성 고찰 - 산업폐수 및 매립지 침출수 연계처리 시설을 중심으로 - (A study on characteristics of influent and effluent pollutants in public sewage treatment works combined with industrial wastewater and landfill leachate)

  • In this study, we investigated influent and effluent water pollutants in 53 Public Sewage Treatment Works (PSTWs) where industrial wastewater or landfill leachate is combined four times for two years from 2014 to 2015. Also, we analyzed the characteristics of heavy metals and volatile organic carbons at influent and effluent of these PSTWs caused by sewage treatment combined with industrial wastewater or landfill leachate. As a result, six heavy metals such as barium, copper, iron, manganese, nickel and zinc, and four volatile organic carbons (VOCs) including phenols, di(2-)ethylhexyl phthalate (DEHP), formaldehyde and toluene were observed above detection limits in most of PSTWs. Also, it was revealed that six heavy metals such as hexavalent chromium, mercury, cadmium, chromium, nickel and selenium, and four VOCs including 1,1-dichloroethylene, vinyl chloride, naphthalene, and epichlorohydrin were observed more frequently according to precipitation. As a result of reviewing the monitoring data on "Water Quality Monitoring Networks" in lower watersheds of PSTWs, both heavy metals and VOCs were below detection limits, indicating that the effluent water had little influence on the watershed. Nevertheless for the better management of influent and effluent pollutants in PSTWs, it is necessary to establish the advanced management plans for water pollutants in PSTWs, which include a list of priority substances management, monitoring plans, and guidelines for industrial wastewater and landfill leachate combined in PSTWs.

Effect of Combined Therapy of Robot and Low-Frequency Repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation on Hemispatial Neglect in Stroke Patients

  • Objective To investigate the effect of upper limb rehabilitation combining robot with low-frequency repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) on unilateral spatial neglect in stroke patients. Methods Patients who had hemispatial neglect after right hemisphere stroke were randomly divided into rTMS only group, robot only group, and combined group. All groups received conventional neglect therapy and additional treatment for each group. rTMS group received rTMS therapy. Robot group received robot therapy, while combined group received both therapies. The effect of therapy was assessed with Motor-Free Visual Perception Test-3 (MVPT-3), line bisection test, star cancellation test, Catherine Bergego Scale (CBS), Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE), and the Korean version of Modified Barthel Index (K-MBI). These measurements were evaluated before and after treatment. Results For each group, 10 patients were recruited. There were no significant differences in baseline characteristics or initial values among the three groups. Two weeks after the therapy, all groups showed significant improvement in MVPT-3, line bisection test, star cancellation test, CBS, MMSE, and K-MBI. However, changes in measurements showed no significant differences among groups. Conclusion Treatment effect of the combined therapy of robotic therapy and low-frequency rTMS therapy for hemispatial neglect was not statistically different from that of each single treatment. Results of this study did not prove the superiority of any of the three treatments. Further study with large number of patients is needed to evaluate the superiority of these treatments.

열가수분해-고액분리 결합 공정을 적용한 하수슬러지의 가용화 (Disintegration of sewage sludge using combined pre-treatment thermal hydrolysis and separation)

  • 본 연구는 하수슬러지의 가용화를 위해 열가수분해와 고액분리 공정을 결합하여 적용하였다. 열가수분해-고액분리 공정으로 전처리한 하수슬러지의 D10, D50와 D90은 각각 8.6, 59.2와 425.1 ㎛로, 열가수분해 단독 처리한 것에 비해 작게 나타났다. 분자량 분포 실험의 결과에 따르면, 열가수분해 단독 처리한 하수슬러지는 10-100kDa 구간의 비율이 가장 높게 나타났다. 반면에, 열가수분해-고액분리된 하수슬러지는 <1kDa 구간의 비율이 48.3%로 가장 높게 나타났다. 단독 열가수분해 처리한 하수슬러지는 10kDa 이상의 구간에서 DOC와 UVA254가 높게 나타났다. 반면에 열가수분해-고액분리한 하수슬러지는 <1kDa 구간의 DOC와 UVA254가 가장 높은 비율로 나타났다. 열가수분해-고액분리한 하수슬러지의 메탄 전환율은 0.287±0.015 L CH4/kg COD로 단독 처리한 것에 비해 1.7배 높게 나타났다.

비침습적 전기자극과 결합한 몸통 안정화 운동이 뇌졸중 환자의 균형 및 낙상 효능감에 미치는 영향 (Effects of noninvasive electrical stimulation combined trunk stabilization exercise on balance and fall risk in stroke patients)

  • Background: This study aimed to investigate the effects of noninvasive electrical stimulation combined with trunk stabilization exercise on balance and fall risk in patients with stroke. Methods: Twenty-two patients with stroke were enrolled in the study and randomly divided into experimental and control groups, each with 11 patients. noninvasive electrical stimulation combined with trunk stabilization training was applied to the experimental group, and sham noninvasive electrical stimulation combined with trunk stabilization training, to the control group. Both groups were treated for 6 weeks, five times a week for 30 min each time; the balance and fall risk of patients with stroke were measured before and after treatment, and the changes in the two groups were compared and analyzed. Results: The experimental group's left and right weight-bearing indices (affect and non-affect sides) and the front and rear weight-bearing indices, were significantly improved (p<.05, p<.001). when the changes in balance ability between groups were compared before and after treatment. The total fall efficacy score in the experimental group was substantially lower than that in the control group when the changes in fall efficacy score were compared between groups following treatment (p<.001). Conclusion: The improvement in balance and fall risk in patients with stroke can be attributed to using noninvasive electrical stimulation in combination with trunk stabilization training. This clinically helpful treatment method for patients with stroke warrants further promotion and implementation in the clinic.

Bacillus sp. JJ2-01과 마늘 오일 혼합처리에 의한 고추 흰비단병 억제 효과 (Combined Application of Bacillus sp. JJ2-01 and Garlic Oil for Controlling Sclerotium rolfsii in Pepper Plants)

  • 본 연구에서는 흰비단병에 대한 길항 미생물과 유기농업자재를 선발하여 혼합 처리 시 방제 효과를 확인하고자 하였다. 토양에서 분리한 39균주 중 균사 생장 억제력이 가장 높은 JJ2-01 균주를 길항 미생물로 선발하였다. 또한, 유기농업자재의 흰비단병 발병도를 확인하여 병 억제 효과가 있는 유기농업자재로 마늘 오일을 선발하였다. 선발 미생물과 마늘 오일을 혼합하거나 마늘 오일을 단독으로 사용할 경우 병 억제 효과는 유사하게 나타났지만, 마늘 오일을 단독으로 사용할 경우 토양의 acid phosphatase의 활성이 감소하였다. 반면, 마늘 오일과 선발 미생물 JJ2-01 균주를 혼합 처리하였을 때 urease 활성이 증가하였다. 본 실험의 결과를 종합하면, 선발 미생물 JJ2-01 균주와 마늘 오일을 혼합하여 사용하면 고추 흰비단병을 효과적으로 억제하고 토양의 질과 건전성을 유지 또는 향상하는데 도움이 될 수 있을 것이라 판단된다.

Characterization and Application of DLC Films Produced by New Combined PVD-CVD Technique

  • A new advanced combined PVD/CVD technique of DLC film deposition has been developed. Deposition of a DLC film was carried out using a pulsed carbon arc discharge in vapor hydrocarbon atmosphere. The arc plasma enhancing CVD process promotes dramatic increase in the deposition rate and decrease of compressive stress as well as improvement of film thickness uniformity compared to that obtained with a single PVD pulsed arc process. The optical spectroscopy investigation reveals great increase in radiating components of $C_2$ Swan system molecular bands due to acetylene molecules decomposition. AFM, Raman spectroscopy, XPS and nano-indentation were used to characterize DLC films. The method ensures obtaining a new superhard DLC nano-material for deposition of protective coatings onto various industrial products including those used in medicine.

양상추에 인위접종된 Escherichia coli O157:H7, Salmonella Typhimurium과 Listeria monocytogenes에 대한 저온 플라즈마와 UV-C의 살균 효과 (Combined Effect of Cold Plasma and UV-C Against Escherichia coli O157:H7, Salmonella Typhimurium, and Listeria monocytogenes on Fresh-cut Lettuce)

  • 본 연구에서는 양상추에 접종된 E. coli O157:H7, S. Typhimurium과 L. monocytogene에 대하여 저온 플라즈마와 UV-C 단독처리 및 병행처리 효과를 측정하였다. E. coli O157:H7, S. Typhimurium, L. monocytogenes는 양상추에 초기 농도가 5.82, 5.09, 5.65 log CFU/g이 되도록 각각 접종하였다. 저온 플라즈마와 UV-C를 처리된 양상추는 $4^{\circ}C$에서 9일간 보관하며 미생물학적 분석과 관능평가를 실시하였다. 저온 플라즈마 처리는 E. coli O157:H7, S. Typhimurium, L. monocytogenes의 개체 수를 각각 0.26, 0.65, 0.93 log CFU/g 수준으로 감소시켰다. 또한, UV-C 처리 시 각각 0.87, 0.88, 1.14 log CFU/g 수준으로 감소되었다. 또한 UV-C 처리 후 저온 플라즈마를 처리한 병행처리에서는 각각 1.44, 2.70, 1.62 log CFU/g 수준으로 감소하였다. 저온 플라즈마와 UV-C 단독처리 보다는 병행처리가 좀 더 효과적으로 균을 저감하는 것으로 판단되었다. 관능평가 결과는 외관, 질감, 전체적인 수용도 면에서 대조구와 비교하였을 때, 보관 6일까지 유의적인 차이가 없었다. 따라서 저온 플라즈마와 UV-C 병행처리는 양상추에 존재하는 균을 저감하기 위한 효과적인 기술로 활용될 수 있을 것으로 생각되었다.

종합적 방제기술을 이용한 유기재배 생강의 근경썩음병 억제 (Suppression of Rhizome Rot in Organically Cultivated Ginger Using Integrated Pest Management)

  • 본 연구는 유기농 생강재배지에서 발생한 생강 뿌리썩음병을 헤어리벳치와 난각칼슘+훈탄을 혼합 처리하여 방제하고자 하였다. 생강의 잎이 황화되고 식물체가 시드는 생강 근경썩음병의 병징은 화학비료 처리구에서 7월 1일부터 시작되었다. 수확기인 10월 2일에 생강 근경썩음병이 더욱 진전되어 생강의 줄기가 갈변하고 식물체가 고사하여 36.7-43.0%의 높은 발병율을 보였다. 반면에 헤어리벳치+훈탄+난각칼슘 처리구는 9월말까지 근경썩음병이 전혀 발생되지 않았고 10월 초순까지 발생이 지연되어 1.3-1.7%의 매우 낮은 발병율을 보였다. 토양내 Na, Fe, Cu 함량은 헤어리벳치+훈탄+난각칼슘 처리에 의해 처리 전보다 감소하였으나 유기물 함량은 31.6%로 시험 전보다 2배 증가하였다. 토양내 Pythium sp.의 밀도는 헤어리벳치+훈탄+난각칼슘 처리구($0.3-2.0{\times}10^3cfu/g$)에서 낮았으나, 화학비료 처리구($12.0-12.3{\times}10^3cfu/g$)에서 유의적으로 높았다. 따라서, 유기농 생강 재배지에 헤어리벳치를 녹비작물로 재배하고 토양 개량제인 훈탄과 난각칼슘을 토양에 처리하면 생강의 고질적인 병인 생강 근경썩음병을 효과적으로 방제할 수 있을 것으로 사료된다.
