The purpose of this study is to explore sorts and roles of Afro-American music genres such as jazz, blues, gospel, and swing which were shown in post-structural Afro-American literary works: Toni Morrison's novel Jazz, Alice Walker's novel The Color Purple, and August Wilson's play The Piano Lesson. It has been phenomenal for several important Afro-American writers to create their works in which they invite traditional Afro-American music genres. This has made significant effects to depict a wide range of episodes in their works, which are historically and culturally associated with such music genres. This paper analyzes varied ways in which the writers combine these two artistic fields, which are all Afro-American, and express their authenticity and identity as being blackness.

The temperature distribution and cooling rate play an important role in the investigation of heat affected zone of weldment. All the problems such as metallurgical changes, welding thermal stress, welding residual stress and welding deformation in the heat affected zone of welded joint are due to the temperature distribution and cooling rate. In this paper, one dimensional temperature distribution and cooling rate due to transient arc welding heat in the heat affected zone of the base metal are studied. Heat transfer equation for one dimensional heat flow is formed, and solution is obtained. Weld heat input formula is also formed and used. Computed numerical results show a good agreement with the experimented temper color.

In The White Card (2019), Claudia Rankine dramatically interrogates whiteness's persistent, reflexive habit of trying to preserve a state of innocence, expressing her vision of how this tendency blinds white liberal subjectivity to the structural reality of institutionalized racism in America. Rankine's exposure of the invisibility to which people of color are usually consigned by American whiteness is inseparable from her critical interrogation of how the hypervisibility of victims of racial violence provides white liberal subjectivity opportunities to intervene and feel good about itself. What Rankine enacts in the play is a process of repetition and revision, signifyin(g) on racial violence and its history; acts of racial violence continue to accrete, and her act of signifyin(g) on the countless acts of racial violence in America conveys the understanding that this text cannot be rewritten if white America continues to attend solely to individual, ostensibly isolated, acts of racial injustice.

As digital education progresses, MOOC (Massive Open Online Courses) are increasingly utilized by learners, making research on MOOC learning outcomes a necessary endeavor. In this study, we systematically investigated the impact of audiovisual elements on learning outcomes in MOOC, highlighting the nuanced role these components play in enhancing educational effectiveness. Through a comprehensive survey and rigorous analysis involving descriptive statistics, reliability metrics, and regression techniques, we quantified the influence of text, graphics, color, teacher images, sound effects, background music, and teacher's voice on learner attention, cognitive load, and satisfaction. We discovered that background music and text layout significantly improve engagement and reduce cognitive burden, underscoring their pivotal role in the instructional design of MOOC. We findings contribute new insights to the field of digital education, emphasizing the critical importance of integrating audiovisual elements thoughtfully to foster better learning environments and outcomes. Not only advances academic understanding of multimedia learning impacts but also offers practical guidance for educators and course designers seeking to enhance the efficacy of MOOC.

One of the words that describe unique features of human beings is "Homo Ludens (Playing Man)". As humans enjoy abundant and prosperous lives and the quality of life is further improved, play is increasingly becoming a central value of human life. As part of play, ocean leisure is getting popular these days, and in turn demands for ocean leisure-related products in Korea, most of which are dependent on foreign markets, are growing. Therefore, it is required that local companies are quick to turn their eyes on the fast developing market. This research aims to help develop a design concept for bodyboard, more suitable for the domestic market, by analyzing products and reflecting customers' needs. The findings of this study are as follows: first, it is desirable that the target of bodyboard in domestic market is young people aged between 14 and 29 and its price ranges from 40,000 to 100,000 won; second, a tube-type bodyboard is appropriate for beaches in Korea mostly with small and gentle waves, as also shown in a survey that over 65% of those surveyed prefer a tube-type bodyboard, and lastly, the CMFF (Color, Material, Form, and Function) strategy was newly developed in this study in order to create new concept bodyboards.

This study is on the costumes for Korean traditional play, Nong-ak(farm music), and intends to analyze their aesthetic features, laying emphasis on Pilbong Nong-ak, Im sil, Chollanam-do. About its origin there are many kinds of theories; for example, the theory of hoping stability, the theory of it being related with Buddhism, the theory of martial music, etc. Shamanic, Buddhist, and martical fators that support these theories are expressed through flags, bells, drums, Deograe (half-coats), Cheonrips (sang-mo, felf hats), go-kkals(peaked hats), colored lines called 'ga-sa', which are used in Nong-ak. The characteristic of the costumes used in Pilbong Nong-ak is that it keeps its conservativeness and the costumes of its members are various and splendid. For example, leader groups' black half coats, Changbu's and Hwa-dong's red and bule over coats are remarkable. Particpants wear gok-kal or cheonrip, trousers and half coats which are the basic costumes of Korean Hanbok, and wear blak half coats or blue vests and put blue, red, and yellow lines around them. The colors and knotting methods of those lines in this region are the same with those of chollawoo-do and Kyongi province, but different form those of Kongwon and Kyong-sang province using green, red, and yellow colors. This comparison of colors shows each region's preference of peculiar colors and those colors coincide with colors used in flags. The research on the aesthetic characteristics of Nong-ak clothes through each region's clothes tells us that these can be linear clothes which have expressiveness as stage clothes used in Madangori, the play which is performed in the field, and modern spatial formativeness. Those characteristics are as follows; 1. The expressions of a rhythmical and daring round line by turning a long line of sang-mo. 2. Various rhythms according to the attaching methods. 3. The expressions of thick, simple, and daring color lines. 4. Natural beauty of materials. 5. The popular simplicity and non-technicality 6. The beauty of five-direction colors, Oriental ideal colors Consequently in this study our national consciousness of beauty are examined through clothes. It is suggested that the aesthetic characteristics of Nong-ak clothes and ornaments should be effectively expressed, for this purpose. interests in participants' clothes should be increased in order to prevent the confusion of each region's features. Also it is necessary to improve color lines, their length, width, and knotting methods, and beautify instrument. Finally this study intends to bring the reappraisal about the art of Nong-ak clothes and its re-establishment in view of modern aesthetic consciousness.

Since the end of 1960s, an era of internationalization, Interculturalism has been reflected in intercultural plays which borrow concepts of foreign-cultural aesthetics for the performance and create a new stage language. Among many writers and performers, Oh, Tae-seok created his own unique aesthetic performances through experimental and avant-garde methodologies connected with various areas of art. His plays are worth studying since they suggest us a point of view which helps us to get out of the ordinary, fixed thought and try to see variety of reality. Therefore, our study categorized Oh, Tae-seok's play into four areas according to grotesquery interculturalism : Evil sprit, Abhorrence, Exaggeration and distort, and Heterogeneity. Based on this category, we analyzed plastic artistic characteristics of his plays' stage costume, for example, shapes, materials, and color, and tried to enhance the aesthetic value of his plays. We made a conclusion that the play showed grotesquery features in stage costume, which represented death, tragedy, evil sprit of human negligence, surprising and grotesquery abhorrence by deformity of the body, exaggeration and distortion, ridiculousness, and heterogeneity, the mixture of abnormality and unstableness. Our study could help produce adequate stage costume matching the features of the performance, and be the cornerstone of grotesquery aesthetic interculturalism study reflected in stage costume.

As a fresh trial using humorous items to escape from economic recession and uncertain state of mind regarding politics and society, fun is emerging as a keyword in design area. This study classified various use of fun reflected in modern fashion design according to the theme, and analyzed the mod of expression to identify formative characteristics. Through these processes, this study built conceptual structure of fun in fashion design. 412 fashion designs which represent fun were collected from 2001 $S/S{\sim}2005$ F/W collections. Data were analyzed and categorized. Results showed that the theme of fun in the modern fashion design could be classified into humor, kidult, irony, satire/parody, storytelling, and play. The design elements mainly used were color silhouette, letter, object, and drawing, while the design principles were distortion/exaggeration, incongruity, and repetition. In addition, these expressions were related to the traditional humor theory: incongruity-resolution, superior, and relief theories. The fun in modern fashion design has such value as affirmation, warmness, entertainment, youth, contradiction, surprise, deviate, allusion, attack, and description, Finally, in regard to the subject, the fun provides active experience like play as well as passive acceptance.

As parents are interested in music education for infants in these days, they require systems to help these infants to actively play music. In this paper, we propose a keyboard solo system using a real time hand recognition method. In order to enable the infants to use the system easily, the proposed system plays some sounds whenever the infants move their fingers on a paper piano. For the purpose of minimizing cost to play music, the proposed system utilizes a general PC with only a paper piano, a web camera, and a speaker. With the aim of precisely and efficiently recognizing both a hand and each key on keyboard, the proposed system divides a recognition step into a hand recognition step and a keyboard recognition step. Also, the hand recognition step considers only skin color, and the keyboard recognition step considers only black and white without other colors.

The costumes (including mask) of the first World Master series of The National Changguk Company of Korea, Achim Freyer's 'Mr. Rabbit & Dragon king' is directly designed by Achim Freyer who was in charge of direction and stage design. The new form called Pansori opera is proposed for modernization of Korean traditional opera, it maintained the original form of music yet introduced play form of opera. The costumes and stage also promoted modernistic transformation while maintaining the original Korean form. The overall concept of 'Mr. Rabbit & Dragon king' costumes emphasizes comical effect by abstractness like childlike scribble. It expressed characteristic of characters diversely through exaggeration and expansion while maintaining original form of Hanbok, used surface of costumes as a drawing board, and created flat and geometrically transformed silhouette. The complicated characters was caricatured like everyone is doing mask play by using masks, and it still maintained sophisticated oriental color with modern application of five cardinal colors. It may seems it just mixed our traditional elements like a hint of humor, however, it could be known that it introduced various techniques in it to deliver new subject while maintaining the original form of 'Mr. Rabbit & Dragon king'. From this study, open mind for our tradition and need for diverse attempt could be rediscovered and could also see the possibility to contribute on creating a Nation Brand of traditional performing art.
