In this paper, the characteristics of a carbon nanotube composite heat sink proposed to replace the advanced Al heat sinks for LED lighting devices were studied. Proposed CMP-PLA heat sink was made by mixing 20~70 wt% carbon nanotube, 20~70 wt% bio-degradable polymer of melt-blended PLA (poly lactic acid) and PBS (poly butylene succinate) and PLA nucleating agents composed of the mixture of soybean oil and biotites, at $150{\sim}220^{\circ}C$ with 1,000~1,500 rpm. Optical and electric characteristics of 7.5 W LED lighting devices using heat sinks with such prepared CMP-PLA were investigated. And, the properties of the heat, which was not released from the CMP-PLA type heat sinks, was also investigated. The color temperature of LED lighting devices using the CMP-PLA heat sinks was 5,956 K, which is x= 0.32 and y= 0.34 in the XY chromaticity, and the color rendering index was 75. The luminous flux and the luminous efficiency of LED lighting devices using the CMP-PLA heat sinks was 540.6 lm and 72.68 lm/W respectively. Measured initial temperature of the heat sinks was $27^{\circ}C$, and their temperature increased as time to be saturated at $52^{\circ}C$ after an hour.

To produce the white light, there are a single chip method using the blue light and phosphor coating, a multi chip method by mixing R, G, B light.. Multi chip method is proper for the smart lighting system by controling color and color temperature. And color rendering of single chip LED is good by even spectral distribution. To apply application technic like smart light system, this paper analyzed the properties of single chip LED and RGB multi chip LED, and implemented the 2 part subject evaluation for single chip LED and RGB multi chip LED. The first part is comparison of properties for single chip LED and RGB multi chip and second part is color appearance evaluation of 8 colors in each lighting environment.
Green $BaSi_2O_2N_2:0.02Eu^{2+}$ phosphor is synthesized through a two-step solid state reaction method. The first firing is for crystallization, and the second firing is for reduction of $Eu^{3+}$ into $Eu^{2+}$ and growth of crystal grains. By thermal analysis, the three-time endothermic reaction is confirmed: pyrolysis reaction of $BaCO_3$ at $900^{\circ}C$ and phase transitions at $1,300^{\circ}C$ and $1,400^{\circ}C$. By structural analysis, it is confirmed that single phase [$BaSi_2O_2N_2$] is obtained with Cmcm space group of orthorhombic structure. After the first firing the morphology is rod-like type and, after the second firing, the morphology becomes round. Our phosphor shows a green emission with a peak position of 495 nm and a peak width of 32 nm due to the $4f^65d^1{\rightarrow}4f^7$ transition of $Eu^{2+}$ ion. An LED package (chip size $5.6{\times}3.0mm$) is fabricated with a mixture of our green $BaSi_2O_2N_2$, and yellow $Y_3Al_5O_{12}$ and red $Sr_2Si_5N_8$ phosphors. The color rendering index (90) is higher than that of the mixture without our green phosphor (82), which indicates that this is an excellent green candidate for white LEDs with a deluxe color rendering index.
We have synthesized bluish-green, highly-efficient $BaSi_2O_2N_2:Eu^{2+}$ and $(Ba,Sr)Si_2O_2N_2:Eu^{2+}$ phosphors through a conventional solid state reaction method using metal carbonate, $Si_3N_4$, and $Eu_2O_3$ as raw materials. The X-ray diffraction (XRD) pattern of these phosphors revealed that a $BaSi_2O_2N_2$ single phase was obtained. The excitation and emission spectra showed typical broadband excitation and emission resulting from the 5d to 4f transition of $Eu^{2+}$. These phosphors absorb blue light at around 450 nm and emit bluish-green luminescence, with a peak wavelength at around 495 nm. From the results of an experiment involving Eu concentration quenching, the relative PL intensity was reduced dramatically for Eu = 0.033. A small substitution of Sr in place of Ba increased the relative emission intensity of the phosphor. We prepared several white LEDs through a combination of $BaSi_2O_2N_2:Eu^{2+}$, YAG:$Ce^{3+}$, and silicone resin with a blue InGaN-based LED. In the case of only the YAG:$Ce^{3+}$-converted LED, the color rendering index was 73.4 and the efficiency was 127 lm/W. In contrast, in the YAG:$Ce^{3+}$ and $BaSi_2O_2N_2:Eu^{2+}$-converted LED, two distinct emission bands from InGaN (450 nm) and the two phosphors (475-750 nm) are observed, and combine to give a spectrum that appears white to the naked eye. The range of the color rendering index and the efficiency were 79.7-81.2 and 117-128 lm/W, respectively. The increased values of the color rendering index indicate that the two phosphor-converted LEDs have improved bluish-green emission compared to the YAG:Ce-converted LED. As such, the $BaSi_2O_2N_2:Eu^{2+}$ phosphor is applicable to white high-rendered LEDs for solid state lighting.
In this paper the spectra of correlated color temperature (CCT) tunable white light-emitting diode (LED) luminaires, consisting of commercial red, green, blue, and amber LED chips, were optimized to increase color rendering index (CRI), and a special CRI of R9 for deep red color was obtained. To improve the design's accuracy, measured LED spectra were used instead of mathematically modeled ones. Real CCT tunable LED luminaires with CRIs of 87-90 and R9s of 34-93 were fabricated and demonstrated at CCTs of 3000-6000 K.

Eight types of LED packages were manufactured according to the type and composition ratio of phosphors by using commercially available white LED phosphors. CRI (Ra), a conventional color quality evaluation method was evaluated by using manufactured white LED; the Rf, Rg, color vector graphic, and color distortion graphic were evaluated with a new method, IES TM-30-15. The results of the evaluation confirmed that the new method compensated for the disadvantages of CRI, which was found to be inadequate when the color was saturated. The added evaluation index identified the chroma variation and color change. Furthermore, the study showed that the changes of Rf and Rg are small when controlling phosphors based on CRI, questioningthe necessity of identifyingchroma variation and color change.

A simple system to measure the correlated color temperature ($T_c$) and color rendering index ($R_a$) oflight sources was developed. And the T, and R, of incandescent lamps (I/L) and various fluorescent lamps(F/L) were measured with varying source voltage and power frequency. As results, $T_c$ variations of I/L and F/L with varying source voltage were relatively large, but $R_a$, variations were small. And $T_c$, $R_a$, variations of F/L under 5OkHz of power frequency were small, but over 50kHz, it is supposed that $T_c$, and $R_a$, will vary significantly.
This paper investigates a method to improve the lighting performance of white light-emitting diodes (WLEDs), which are packaged using two separate remote phosphor layers, a yellow-emitting YAG:Ce phosphor layer and a red-emitting ${\alpha}-SrO{\cdot}3B_2O_3:Sm^{2+}$ phosphor layer. The thicknesses of these two layers are $800{\mu}m$ and $200{\mu}m$, respectively. Both of them are examined in conditions where the average correlated color temperatures (CCT) are 7700 K and 8500 K. For this two-layer model, the concentration of red phosphor is varied from 2% to 30% in the upper layer, while in the lower layer the yellow phosphor concentration is kept at 15%. It was found interestingly that the lighting properties such as color rendering index (CRI) and luminous flux are enhanced significantly, while the color uniformity is maintained in a relatively close range to the one of one-layer configuration (measured at the same correlated color temperature). Besides, the transmitted and reflected light of each phosphor layer are revised by combining Kubelka-Munk and Mie-Lorenz theories. Through analysis, it is demonstrated that the packaging configuration of two-layer remote phosphor that employs red-emitting ${\alpha}-SrO{\cdot}3B_2O_3:Sm^{2+}$ phosphor particles provides a practical solution for general WLEDs lighting.

The optical characteristics of high-power direct-lit white light-emitting diode (LED) lighting were investigated, where a quantum dot (QD) film was adopted to enhance the color-rendering index (CRI). The transmittance of the diffuser plate and the concentration of the QD film were varied in this study. The color coordinates and the correlated color temperature (CCT) did not show any appreciable change, while the CRI values increased slightly as the transmittance of the diffuser plate decreased. The investigated optical properties were nearly independent of the viewing angle, and the luminance distribution was close to Lambertian. The CCT decreased from approximately 6000 K to approximately 4000 K as the concentration of the QD film increased from 0 to 7.5 wt%, which was due to the enhanced red component in the emission spectrum. The CRI increased to approximately 95 for some optical configurations of the lighting. These results demonstrate that glare-free, color-changeable, high-rendering LED lighting can be realized by using a combination of a diffuser plate of appropriate transmittance and a red QD film.
The effect of titanium dioxide ($TiO_2$) on the properties of color conversion glasses was examined for glasses based on $BaO-ZnO-B_2O_3-SiO_2$. One glass sample, containing 25 mol% of each component, was used as a reference; the other three glass samples contained 1, 3, and 5 mol% $TiO_2$, respectively. The four color conversion glass samples were prepared by sintering a mixture of glass frits and a $YAG:Ce^+$ phosphor. The characteristics of the color conversion glass samples, such as luminous efficacy, luminance, CIE (Commission International de I'Eclairage) chromaticity, CCT (Correlated Color Temperature), and CRI (Color Rendering Index) were analyzed according to the PL spectrum. The refractive index of the glass samples was found to increase with the titanium dioxide content. In conclusion, luminous efficacy of color conversion glasses increased as the content of $TiO_2$ was raised in the glass matrix.
