Target Detection of Mobile Robot by Vision (시각 정보에 의한 이동 로봇의 대상 인식)

  • This paper suggest target detection algorithm for mobile robot control using color and shape recognition. In many cases, ultrasonic sensor(USS) is used in mobile robot system to measure the distance between obstacles. But with only USS, it may have many restrictions. So we attached CCD camera to mobile robot to overcome its restrictions. If visual information is given to robot system then robot system will be able to accomplish more complex mission successfully. With acquired vision data, robot looks for target by color and recognize its shape.

  • 본 논문에서는 칼라공간상의 거리와 이웃정보를 이용한 클러스터링을 통한 칼라영상 분할 방법을 제안한다. 영상의 픽셀들을 이웃관계를 유지하여 칼라공간으로 매핑한다. 칼라공간상에서 이웃하는 픽셀들을 클러스터링하여 영상의 세그먼트들을 찾는다. 클러스터링 방법으로서 인력을 모방하는 클러스터링(gravitational clustering)을 사용하였다. 이 방법으로 클러스터의 중심값과 클러스터 수를 미리 정해주지 않아도 자동적으로 결정할 수 있는 장점이 있다. gravitational 클러스터링에서 찾은 클러스터 수를 가지고 다른 클러스터링 방법에 입력으로 주어 결과를 비교해 본다. 본 논문에서는 이웃관계를 따라 클러스터링하는 것이 정확한 경계선을 찾는데 효과적임을 보여준다.

  • Scene change detection is the fundamental process of automatic video indexing and retrieving. In this paper we propose a method which utilizes both compressed and uncompressed domain methods to detect scene change in a video. Candidate locations for scene change are estimated from DC images and motion vector information in compressed domain. And candidate frames are verified using edge histogram distance and color histogram distance, in uncompressed domain. The experimental results show that scene change can be detected fast and correctly by proposed method.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the relation between color change and residual compressive strength in concrete exposed to high temperature. In order to study the color image analysis, the specimens have been tested with variables of concrete strengths(20Mpa, 40Mpa, 60Mpa) in transient heating conditions($800^{\circ}C$ heating and 2 hour preservation). The results show that the residual strength of specimens are coincident with the full development of the pink/red color and the method may be used to define the distance from a heated surface where strength degradation has occurred.

  • UBVIJHK photometry of the open cluster NGC 2194 are presented. Color-Magnitude diagrams of this cluster show well-defined main sequence and red giant clump. The main sequence also contains clear evidence of binary populations. Based on color-color diagrams, absolute magnitude of red giant clump, ZAMS fitting, and comparisons of observed color-magnitude diagrams with theoretical models, we derive following parameters for the cluster; reddening $E(B-V)=0.44{\pm}0.04$, age of log $t{\sim}8.8$, and finally distance of $(m-M)_0=12.20{\pm}0.18$.

  • An object color identification and classification embedded system realization for uninhabited stock management is presented in this paper. The embedded system is realized by using ultrasonic sensor to extract the object and distance, and detecting binary image from USB CCD camera. The algorithm is identified by comparing the reference pattern with the color pattern of input image, and move to the settled rack at the store. The experimental result leads to use the uninhibited stock management with practice as a robot.

  • Content based image retrieval is increasingly gaining popularity among image repository systems as images are a big source of digital communication and information sharing. Identification of image content is done through feature extraction which is the key operation for a successful content based image retrieval system. In this paper content based image retrieval system has been developed by adopting a strategy of combining multiple features of shape, color and relevance feedback. Shape is served as a primary operation to identify images whereas color and relevance feedback have been used as supporting features to make the system more efficient and accurate. Shape features are estimated through second derivative, least square polynomial and shapes coding methods. Color is estimated through max-min mean of neighborhood intensities. A new technique has been introduced for relevance feedback without bothering the user.

  • Recently, Digital TV viewer have been replacing cathode ray tubes (CRT) with Plasma display panel(PDP). But the chromaticity of the primaries are dependent on RGB input signals. And the colorimetry of PDP changes with gray scale and has a poor performance in color reproduction. In this paper we propose the enhanced algorithm of color reproduction considering nonlinear gamut mapping algorithm. In order to test performance of this algorithm we use the sample colors. As a result of experiments, it was confirmed that the color difference of the digital PDP using the proposed algorithm was considerably reduced.

An Efficient Video Retrieval Algorithm Using Key Frame Matching for Video Content Management

  • To manipulate large video contents, effective video indexing and retrieval are required. A large number of video indexing and retrieval algorithms have been presented for frame-wise user query or video content query whereas a relatively few video sequence matching algorithms have been proposed for video sequence query. In this paper, we propose an efficient algorithm that extracts key frames using color histograms and matches the video sequences using edge features. To effectively match video sequences with a low computational load, we make use of the key frames extracted by the cumulative measure and the distance between key frames, and compare two sets of key frames using the modified Hausdorff distance. Experimental results with real sequence show that the proposed video sequence matching algorithm using edge features yields the higher accuracy and performance than conventional methods such as histogram difference, Euclidean metric, Battachaya distance, and directed divergence methods.

The identity distinction of the moving objects using distance among hue normalization levels

  • In this paper, The identity distinction of the moving objects using distance among hue normalization levels was proposed. Moving objects are detected by using difference image method and integral projection method to background image and objects image only with hue area. Hue information of the detected moving area are normalized by 24 levels from 0$^{\circ}$ to 360$^{\circ}$. A distance in between normalized levels with a hue distribution chart of the normalized moving objects is used for the identity distinction feature parameters of the moving objects. To examine proposed method in this paper, image of moving cars are obtained by setting up three cameras at different places every 1 km on outer motorway. The simulation results of identity distinction show that it is possible to distinct the identity a distance in between normalization levels of a hue distribution chart without background.
