  • This paper consists of two significant aims. The first aim of this paper is to establish the criteria for the existence of solutions to nonlinear Volterra-Fredholm (V-F) fractional integral equations on [0, L], where 0 < L < ∞. The fractional integral is described here in the sense of the Katugampola fractional integral of order λ > 0 and with the parameter β > 0. The concepts of the fixed point theorem and the measure of noncompactness are used as the main tools to prove the existence of solutions. The second aim of this paper is to introduce a computational method to obtain approximate numerical solutions to the considered problem. This method is based on the Fibonacci wavelets with collocation technique. Besides, the results of the error analysis and discussions of the accuracy of the solutions are also presented. To the best knowledge of the authors, this is the first computational method for this generalized problem to obtain approximate solutions. Finally, two examples are discussed with the computational tables and convergence graphs to interpret the efficiency and applicability of the presented method.

  • The resolution of Earth images taken from a satellite has close relation with satellite's altitude. If a satellite has lower altitude, it gets a picture having better resolution. However the satellite will be exposed to heavier air drag and will spend more fuel to maintain its altitude for a desired mission. Therefore, in this study, the required fuel to maintain very low earth orbit(LEO) with severe air drag is analyzed using optimization method such as collocation method. The required fuel to maintain the low altitude has significantly increased as the mission altitude is lowered and the solar activity is maximized. This study also shows that the fuel reduced by increasing the period of the satellite maneuver is very small, and that slightly increasing the satellite's mission altitude is much effective in reducing the amount of fuel to maintain its altitude. The calculated fuel to maintain very low earth orbit in this study would give useful information in planning the budget of fuel and cost for LEO satellites.

  • This study deals with development of transformation tool for transformation of digital map coordinates systems using by the best fit transformation parameters which are determined between the local geodetic datum and geocentric datum (ITRF2000) in Korea and distortion modelling derived from collocation method. We used 107 control points as a common points. For analyzing the derived parameters, another 83 common points are tested. Finally, the best fit parameters are determined from Molodensky-Badekas model after considering the RMSE, maximum value, minimum values, and 95% confidence interval of residuals. after transformation of best fit parameters and distortion modelling, we could develop transformation tools with advenced accuracy. so it is possible to perform on transformation of digital map with scale 1:5,000. and we tested accuracy eveluation through analysis between transformation results and field results of GPS observation.

  • Direct velocity feedback (DVFB) control with a collocated distributed actuator and point sensor pair is known that it offers a good stability with high performance when the control strategy is applied at the suppression of structural vibration. Also decentralized control method introduced to offer to reduce implementaion effort and malfunction due to failure in sensors and actuators of control system has become an important position in DVFB. In this paper, the decentralized control is compared with centralized control in terms of vibrational velocity reduction in a clamped-clamped beam.

  • Precise regional geoid heights on and around Mount Jiri were calculated and were compared to the KNGeoid14 (Korean National Geoid 2014) model. In this study, gravimetric geoid heights were calculated by using RCR (Remove-Compute-Restore) technique and then hybrid geoid heights were calculated by using the LSC (Least Square Collocation) method in the same area. In addition, gravity observation and GNSS(Global Navigation Satellite System) surveying performed in this study were utilized to determine gravimetric geoid heights and to compute hybrid geoid heights, respectively. The results of the study show that the post-fit error (mean and standard deviation) of hybrid geoid heights was evaluated as $0.057{\pm}0.020m$, while the mean and standard deviation of the differences were -0.078 and 0.085 m, respectively for KNGeoid14. Therefore, hybrid geoid heights in this study show more considerable progress than KNGeoid14.

  • This paper introduce a technique for Word segmentation for the handwritten recognition of Urdu script. Word segmentation or word tokenization is a primary technique for understanding the sentences written in Urdu language. Several techniques are available for word segmentation in other languages but not much work has been done for word segmentation of Urdu Optical Character Recognition (OCR) System. A method is proposed for word segmentation in this paper. It finds the boundaries of words in a sequence of ligatures using probabilistic formulas, by utilizing the knowledge of collocation of ligatures and words in the corpus. The word identification rate using this technique is 97.10% with 66.63% unknown words identification rate.

  • This paper presents the time optimal reorientation solution of three-axis spacecraft which has only three magnetic torquers. It has been very difficult problem because the magnetic torquer generates only perpendicular to Earth magnetic field vector. In this paper, minimum-time solution using only magnetic torquer is solved using collocation method and nonlinear programming solver NPSOL. IGRF Earth magnetic field model used to simulate magnetic field. The result is verified by comparing to the result of numerical integration. The solution is obtained for the various reorientation maneuver of three axes rigid spacecraft. And the results show that all three axes of rigid spacecraft are controlled effectively only by magnetic torqure.

  • A tunable reduced-order distillation model is proposed for real-time applications. To develop the model, a binary distillation column with MaCabe-Thiele assumptions was considered first and then the governing equations for the column were reduced to a simplified vector differential equations using the collocation method combined with cubic spline interpolation function. The final reduced-order model has four tuning parameters, relative volatilities and liquid holdups for rectifying and stripping sections, respectively. To assess the applicability of the developed model, the real-time adjustment of the model was tried by recursively updating the tuning parameters using the BKF algorithm. As a result, it was found that the reduced-model follows the simulated distillation process very closely as the parameters are improved.

  • Dynamic stress intensity factors (DSIFs) are obtained when a crack propagates with constant velocity in rectangular functionally gradient materials (FGMs) under dynamic mode III load. To obtain the dynamic stress intensity factors, it is used the general stress and displacement fields of FGMs for propagating crack and the boundary collocation method (BCM). The stress intensity factors and energy release rates are the greatest in the increasing properties $(\xi>0)$, next constant properties $(\x=0)$ and decreasing properties $(\xi<0)$ under constant crack tip properties and crack tip speed.

  • The hydrodynamic instability of the three-dimensional boundary-layer over a rotating disk has been numerically investigated for three cases flows using linear stability theory (i.e. Rossby number, Ro = -1, 0, and 1). Detailed numerical values of the disturbance wave number, wave frequency, azimuth angle, radius (Reynolds number, Re) and other characteristics have been calculated for $K{\acute{a}}rm{\acute{a}}n$, Ekman and $B{\"{o}}ewadt$ boundary-layer flows. Neutral curves for these flows are presented. Presented are the neutral stability results concerning the two instability modes (Type I and Type II) by using a two-point boundary value problem code COLUEW that was based upon the adaptive orthogonal collocation method using B-spline. The prediction from the present results on both instability modes among the three cases agrees with the previously known numerical and experimental data well.
