Breast cancer is the second leading cause of death in woman. Unfortunately, the frequency of breast cancer and mastectomy are increasing in Korea. This paper introduces the breast reconstruction by use of pectoralis major muscle transfer with breast implant for small size defect after skin sparing mastectomy for more satisfaction. We reviewed 24 consecutive patients who underwent breast reconstruction by pectoralis major muscle transfer with implant and only breast implant in Dong-A University from April 2002 to March 2004. The patient's age ranged between 29 and 54 years with mean of 42.3 years. We used pectorals major muscle transfer with breast implant in 12 patients and breast implant alone in 12 patients as control. The follow-up period of patients ranged from 10 months to 3 years with mean of 18.5 months. The points of comparison with control group reconstructed by breast implant alone were doctor and patient satisfaction score, operation time, duration of admission, amount of drainage, complication and satisfaction according to mass location. In conclusion, there is no difference with control group in the point of operation time, mount of drainage, duration of admission. And there is higher level of doctor's and patient's satisfaction in group reconstructed by pectoralis major muscle transfer with breast implant than implant only group. Especially, pectoralis major muscle transfer with breast implant was especially necessary for the defect in upper lateral quadrant of the breast to get more satisfaction. The advantage of pectoralis major muscle transfer with breast implant is prevention of the protruding and palpability of implant and aesthetically satisfactory result by intraoperative modification of breast shape.
This study was conducted to explore differences of major selection regret and reasons by major selection motivation, and differences of college life, employment goal, first job satisfaction among groups by major selection motivation and regret of college graduates. For this study, '2013 Year Graduates Occupational Mobility Survey' of KEIS was examined by cross-tabulation analysis and one-way analysis of variance. The results were as follows: First, in the case of major selection by intrinsic motivation, less regrets were given than extrinsic motivation. Second, the biggest reason of regret was 'difficulty of unemployment' in case of intrinsic motivation and 'not fit in aptitude' in case of extrinsic motivation. Third, there were differences of college life, employment goal, first job satisfaction among four groups by major selection motivation and regret.
The purpose of this study was to look into impacts of career barriers and college major satisfactions on career preparation behaviors of Security major college students. The subjects of this study were collected among 200 security major students attending universities in Choungnam and Junnam Provinces, and 170 out of 200 were analyzed. Based on collected data, exploratory factor analysis, correlation analysis, multiple regression analysis, and one-way ANOVA were conducted using SPSS 18.0. According to the result, career barriers showed negative correlations on career preparation behaviors, and self-concept clarity deficiency showed significant impact on it. College major satisfactions showed positive correlations, and major satisfaction showed significant impact on it. Also result shows college junior and senior students experience less career barriers compare to freshman and sophomore students, and college junior and senior students were more satisfied on the college major satisfactions as well. The study has found important implications of impacts of career barriers and college major satisfaction on career preparation behaviors. In long term, the finding of the study seem to provide useful insights for security major students and Human Resource Personnel to execute the process of career preparations and related counseling effectively.
Objectives : The purpose of this study was to examine the satisfaction level of students with a job tour program and their major and their adaptation to their major in an effort to provide some information on student guidance and the improvement of dental hygiene education. Methods : The subjects in this study were 269 freshmen to find out their views of job tour and the relationship of their general characteristics and motivation of major choice to satisfaction level with their major and adaptation to the department, t-test and one-way ANOVA were carried out. And correlation analysis was made to look for connections among major satisfaction, major adaptation and satisfaction with job tour. Results : 1. As for the choice of major, the biggest group of 128 students (47.6%) made a decision on their own. 2. In regard to satisfaction level with their major, the freshmen got $3.55{\pm}0.67$, and the sophomores got $3.36{\pm}0.66$. There was a significant difference according to academic year(p<0.05). 3. Concerning the links between motivation for major choice and major satisfaction, the students who chose their major in consideration of their own aptitude or personality got the highest marks of $3.96{\pm}0.64$(p<0.05). 4. As to satisfaction level with the job tour program, they were most satisfied with field trip($4.03{\pm}0.74$). 5. Regarding the correlation among major satisfaction, major adaptation and satisfaction with the job tour program, there was a significant correlation among all the variables(p<0.01). Conclusions : The students who gave priority to their own aptitude and personality in choosing their major were more satisfied with their major and were better adapted to that. Therefore it's required to consider how to boost the satisfaction level of students with their major and their adaptation to that.
The principal objective of this study was to determine the street-food needs of culinary major and non-major university students. University students in Daejeon were assessed by surveys conducted between November 20, 2007 and November 25, 2007. The results of the surveys were as follows; 1. The reason for street-food usage: mainly snacks(37.4%). 2. Primary factor considered when choosing street-food: taste of the food(48.52%). 3. The frequency of street-food purchase: 2 times/month(52.4%) 4. The mean cost for the one-time purchase of street-food: $1,000{\sim}2,000$ won(62.4%). The Importance-Performance Analysis(IPA) used for obtaining information from the culinary major and non-major university students suggested that the attributes of street-food with fair to poor performance but high importance were as follows: sanitary quality in chicken skewers, soondae, ddeokbokki and fried foods and price and nutrition for hamburgers.
Schwann cells play an important role in peripheral nerve regeneration. Upon neuronal injury, activated Schwann cells clean up the myelin debris by phagocytosis, and promote neuronal survival and axon outgrowth by secreting various neurotrophic factors. However, it is unclear how the nerve injury induces Schwann cell activation. Recently, it was reported that certain cytoplasmic molecules, which are secreted by cells undergoing necrotic cell death, induce immune cell activation via the toll-like receptors (TLRs). This suggests that the TLRs expressed on Schwann cells may recognize nerve damage by binding to the endogenous ligands secreted by the damaged nerve, thereby inducing Schwann cell activation. Accordingly, this study was undertaken to examine the expression and the function of the TLRs on primary Schwann cells and iSC, a rat Schwann cell line. The transcripts of TLR2, 3, 4, and 9 were detected on the primary Schwann cells as well as on iSC. The stimulation of iSC with poly (I : C), a synthetic ligand for the TLR3, induced the expression of $TNF-{\alpha}$ and RANTES. In addition, poly (I : C) stimulation induced the iNOS expression and nitric oxide secretion in iSC. These results suggest that the TLRs may be involved in the inflammatory activation of Schwann cells, which is observed during Wallerian degeneration after a peripheral nerve injury.
This study was conducted to assess the recognition and consumption of meal alone and processed food according to major of college students in Seoul Metropolitan area and Chungcheong province, Republic of Korea. To accomplish this, a survey was conducted to investigate 353 college students (171 food & nutrition majors and 182 non-majors) regarding their general characteristics, dietary behaviors, meal alone issues, and the purchase and consumption of processed food. Most major and non-major students skipped breakfast. The main reason for skipping was not having time. Majors and non-majors put great importance on their lunch and evening meal, respectively. Nutrition information routes for majors were 'college class' (62.5%) and 'TV radio' (17.5%). However, the routes for non-majors to obtain nutrition information were 'internet smart phones' (41.1%) and 'TV radio' (28.3%). These results suggest the need to provide correct information concerning nutrition to college students. Most major and non-major students tend to have 0 to 2 times of meal alone per week. The main reason for meal alone was schedule unsuitable for eating with family or friends. The most critical factors for majors and non-majors when they chose menu to have meal alone were personal taste and money, respectively. The primary consideration for choosing processed food was price and the main purchase route was convenience store. The main reason for consuming processed food was easy-to-cook. Of processed foods, the most favored ones were noodles and fish products. Meal alone frequency was positively correlated with age (p<0.05), grade (p<0.05) and monthly allowance (p<0.05). Preference and consumption frequency of processed food were negatively correlated with concern about nutrition (p<0.05) and meal frequency (p<0.05), respectively. Based on these results, greater efforts should be made to provide meaningful information regarding programs for nutrition education to improve their dietary habits. Research and development of processed food specifically for college students eating alone should be increased.
This study was performed to investigate the nutrition knowledge, attitudes, and dietary habits of physical education (PE) major and non-majors of male college students. The subjects were 253 students residing in Gyeonggi area. Nutrition knowledge scores of PE major students were lower than that of non-major students. Both PE major and non-major students reported TV, radio, and internet as their primary sources of nutrition information. Overall dietary attitude scores of two groups did not differ significantly, but PE major students showed more positive attitudes than non-major students for 'Enjoy eating foods that are good for health'. PE major students took more number of meals a day and took more irregularly than non-major students. Also they used more nutrient supplements than non-major students. PE major students drank more amounts of alcohol and drank more frequently than non-major students. But the smoking status of the two groups was not significantly different. PE major students scored higher than non-major students in dietary habits on balance of meals in spite of their low nutrition knowledge scores. In recent years, the competition for employment among college students has become more intense. It is also the time when strong personal beliefs and will to develop careers are required for successful employment through stable major study. Therefore, in this study, we tried to find out the effect on major attitude and employment efficacy according to the level of aviation safety perception, which is an important issue in the aviation industry. For analysis, survey is conducted targeting college students majoring in aviation service who are enrolled in universities in the metropolitan area and Chungcheong area. To verify the hypotheses of the study, demographic characteristics are identified based on questionnaires, reliability and validity of measurement items are verified, and structural equation model analysis is performed to verify the hypotheses. The analysis results are as follows. First, it is found that safety knowledge and safety consciousness, which are sub-factors of aviation safety perception of college students majoring in aviation service, have a positive (+) effect on subject recognition, learning process recognition, and career recognition of major recognition. Second, subject recognition, learning process recognition, and career recognition, which are sub-factors of major recognition, are found to have a positive effect on major commitment. Third, it is found that major commitment have a positive (+) effect on employment efficacy. Based on the research results, practical support plans and strategies for effective major study and successful employment are presented.

The purpose of this study is to prepare basic data to help college students adapt to college life by grasping the effects of mentoring skills, self-concept, career decision-making self-efficacy, and major satisfaction on college life adaptation. To achieve the purpose of the study, data were collected from January 17 to January 27, 2024, targeting college students from one university in C city located in G-do. The survey was conducted online. As a result of the study, the mentoring function of the subjects averaged 4.11 points (out of 5 points), the self-concept was 4.29 points (out of 5 points), the career decision-making self-efficacy was 4.04 points (out of 5 points), the major satisfaction was 4.45 points (out of 5 points), and the college life adaptation was 3.91 points (out of 5 points). The factor that most influenced the subject's adaptation to college life was career decision-making self-efficacy, followed by self-concept, mentoring function, and major-art field. The explanatory power of the model was 70.2%. Specifically, the higher the career decision-making self-efficacy, the higher the self-concept, and the higher the mentoring function, the higher the adaptation to college life. Educational intervention programs (non-curricular programs) are needed to adapt to college life for college students, and subsequent studies need to examine the effects of the developed programs.
