  • Purpose: To provide basic information for developing a nursing program by examining health risk behavior of students rewriting college entrance examinations. Method: Data were gathered using questionnaires from 804 examinees in Seoul and Gyeonggi Province and analyzed with the SAS program using t-test, ANOVA, Scheffe's test, and Pearson correlation coefficients. Results: The mean score for health risk behaviors was 17.70 and the highest score for sub-areas of health risk behavior was drinking alcohol while substance use ranked lowest. There were significantly different scores for health risk behavior according to the following general characteristics; frequency of rewriting college entrance examinations, parents' marital status, level of father's education, grades, satisfaction with rewriting of college entrance examinations, parents' health concerns, need for health education and health status. Each behavior had positive or negative correlation with more than one other behavior. A negative correlation was found between health risk behavior and family support and self-esteem, while positive correlations were found between health risk behavior and general stress, studying stress and anxiety. Conclusion: This study suggest that these results be used to developed a prevention program to decrease health risk behaviors by promoting family support and self esteem and decreasing stress and anxiety.

  • Purpose of the study To study the effects of teaching chamber music courses on the mental health of college students in music schools. The key to the results is as follows. There was a significant difference in the total level of mental health between the experimental and control classes after the experiment. The total level of mental health of male and female college students in the experimental class had significant differences after the experiment, respectively. There was no significant difference in the ten factors of scl-90 in the control class before and after the experiment, while there was a significant difference. in the ten factors of scl-90 in the experimental class before and after the experiment. The experimental teaching of chamber music courses improves the mental health level of female college students better than male college students. We have come to understand Teaching chamber music courses can significantly improve the mental health of college students in music schools.

  • Purpose. This study was conducted to provide basic data on the subjective happiness index and identify factors influencing college professor and staff by describing their perception of general characteristics, health behavior, suicidal ideation, and subjective happiness index. Methods. A survey was conducted with 198 professor and staff who were working University on K city. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficients and multiple regression with SPSS window 18.0 program. Result. The Mean scores of Subjective happiness in college professor and staff was 4.66 on a scale of 7. There were significant differences on the subjective happiness Index for the followings: age, breakfast for 2 day, blood pressure (Lt systolic), health status index (EQ-VAS). There was a negative correlation between the subjective happiness Index and suicidal ideation. Factors influencing of subjective happiness in college professor and staff were identified as age (${\beta}=.201$), breakfast for 2 day (${\beta}=-.180$), blood pressure (Lt systolic) (${\beta}=-.244$), health status index (EQ-VAS) (${\beta}=.408$). These factors explained 35.1% of variance in subjective happiness in college professor and staff. Conclusion. Results indicate that factors influencing subjective happiness are suggesting the need to establish policies of health behavior. health behavior program for a life of happiness among college professor and staff.

  • Purpose: Purpose: The aim of this study was to identify the condition to use social networking service and mental health among nursing college students. Methods: In this study, 277 college students were selected by a convenience sampling method. Data were collected through personal interviews in the form of questionnaires from May 23 to 31, 2011 and analyzed using SPSS/PC Win 12.0 program. Results: The mean scores of SNS addiction and mental health were $1.34{\pm}0.30$and $2.25{\pm}0.39$. The SNS addiction of the nursing college students was significantly different according to the time of SNS and the reason of internet use. The mental health of the nursing college students significantly differed according to the method of SNS. The SNS addiction and mental health showed the significant negative relationship. The factors influencing mental health were SNS addiction score and method of SNS use. Conclusion: Therefore, it is necessary to offer controlling method of SNS use time a day for nursing college students through regular curriculum.

  • The hydrolysis of sphingomyelin (SM), known as the SM pathway, is induced by the activation of sphingomyelinase (SMase) to generate the second messenger ceramide, which plays a key role in cellular responses such as apoptosis, differentiation, senescence, and inflammation. Here, we identified a 60 kDa membrane-associated, neutral and Mg$\^$2+/-dependent SMase, termed N-SMase $\varepsilon$, from mammalian brains, which was revealed as the heat shock protein 60 (HSP60) through cDNA cloning and mass spectrometrical analysis. • Alkylthioureido-1,3-propandiols (KY353X series) were synthesized and evaluated as inhibitors for neutral sphingomyelinase (N-SMase). To examine whether KY353X series inhibit N-SMase, we purified the N-SMase from bovine brain. The N-SMase was partially purified by sequential chromatographies of DEAE-Cellulose anionic exchange and phenyl-5PW hydrophobic HPLC. These seqeuntial procedures for N-SMase resulted in a 67-fold purification and excluded other isoforms of SMase. Based on in vitro assay, KY353X series inhibited N-SMase activity in time, concentration-dependent manners and completely inactivated N-SMase at 50 $\mu$M. In particular, KY3535 and KY3536 inhibited more effectively than the others. To further determine the .inhibitory pattern, a Dixon plot was constructed, to showing that the inhibition by KY3535 and KY3536 were competitive. The inhibition constant (Ki) of KY3535 and KY3536 was 1.7 $\mu$M and 2.5$\mu$M in 100 mM Tris-HCl buffer, pH 7.0, respectively.

  • Objectives: This study was conducted to identify health-promoting behaviors and related factors by type of residence between two groups of college students: those who live in dormitories and those who commute from home. Methods: We used the data from 2,287 students (870 male, 1417 female) from 14 colleges in Daegu and Kyungpook areas and compared health-promoting practice scores, general characteristics, health environment, and parental support. Multiple regression analysis was performed with health-promoting practice scores as a dependent variable. Results: Dormitory residents presented significantly lower health-promoting practice scores than commuters in both gender. Multiple regression analysis showed that the factors associated with health-promoting behaviors were health environment (p<0.05) and parental influence/support (p<0.01) for male dormitory residents. For female dormitory residents interest in health(p<0.05), stress(p<0.05), and parental influence/support(p<0.01) were associated. Conclusions: Systematic development of health education programs would be needed for the practice of health promotion behavior of college dormitory students with the help of environmental and institutional support. We suggest a program for stress management, smoking, health behavior, and alcohol and a parental program to increase contact with their children for a positive parental influence and support.
