Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the effect of aroma therapy on exam syndromes and temporary fatigue of senior high school students who are preparing to take college entrance exams. Method: This study was a pre-experimental research using a one-group pre-post test design and was conducted between April and July 2003 with 35 high school students. A pre-post test was used to measure long-term exam syndromes and temporary fatigue during the first period of school. Paired t-test was used. Aromas were given using an aroma electrical lamp, aroma necklet with basic oils of rosemary and lemon. According to the condition of the students, one or two oils were added: peppermint, pine, eucalyptus and Clary-Sage. Results: After two months (May, June), the result of administering aroma therapy to senior high school students showed in June there was a decrease in principal exam syndromes such as eye fatigue, headache, shoulder pain, neck stiffness, back pain, and common cold, and there was an increase Un study concentration during the two months. However, in May, there were no significant effects. The reason may have been a strong extraneous factor from midterm exams that would affect their college entrance. Conclusion: According to these results, if we use aroma oil carefully, with evidence-based applications, aroma therapy can have a positive effect on senior high school students who are preparing for the college entrance exams.

The purpose of this study was to point out the problems of the competency exam for college education, a new college entrance exam, and to suggest the improvement ideas for it For this purpose, the test items of science inquiry were taken from the first, the second and the third pilot studies of the competency exam for college education which National Institute of Educational Evaluation had done. These tests were administered to 1,223 students of the general high school(422 for the 1st 400 for the 2nd, and 401 for the 3rd test). Also, those students' and the high school science teacher's opinions about the tests and the new college entrance exam were surveyed. The evaluation objectives of those test items were analyzed and the test item analyses were done. But, those items were unevenly distributed into a few areas of the evaluation framework. (2) The boys had higher mean scores than the girls in all of the tests, but these differences were not statistically significant. The natural science course students had significantly higher mean than the humanities course students in all of the test:(1st, F=12.643, p=0.0004 ; 2nd, F=45.757, p=0.0001 ; 3rd, F=36.162, p=0.0001). A significant interaction of sex and course was found in only 1st test( F=11.352. p=0.0008). (3) Most students answered the test was difficult and they needed more time to finish it Also, they added they had to study in a different way from the traditional one in order to prepare the new college entrance exam. Science teachers answered that those evaluation objectives of the tests corresponded well with the educational objectives of high school science and that the tests were suitable as measuring instruments of the scientific thinking abilities. But they pointed out it would be very difficult for them to teach students for preparing the exam under the exsting educational conditions. To carry out successfully the competency exam for college education, the following improvements were suggested. (1) Good evaluation methodology should be developed. (2) In-service science teacher training models on evaluation should be put in force. (3) Effective teaching models and strategies should be developed.(4) The high school science curriculum should be revised.
Purpose - Vietnam's education system has undergone numerous changes. One of the significant reforms is the college admissions process which all high school seniors are obliged to go through the High School Graduation Examination (HSGE). Despite its significance, there is lack of research to examine the effects of high-stakes and nationally standardized exams on students' learning experiences. By applying the concept of washback, the purpose of this study is to provide a comprehensive qualitative analysis of students' perceptions and learning experiences when preparing for and taking the HSGE. Research design, data, and methodology - 20 high school seniors were participated in this study. This study utilized a stratified sampling methods and randomly selected participants. Result - This study revealed that the washback effect of the HSGE strongly existed in students' learning experiences. This study also found that there is a negative washback effect of the HSGE on students' learning, particularly for those living in rural areas although Vietnamese schools and communities shared unequal educational and socioeconomic resources. Conclusion - The results of this study would be useful for policymakers to provide better assessment system to enhance students' ability and reduce exam pressure. This study also makes suggestions in regard to bringing more formative types of assessment into the high-stakes and nationally standardized exam.
Current mathematics of CSAT(College Scholastic Ability Test) faces time to prepare examination questions according to the new curriculum making this year the last. MEST(Minister of Education, Science and Technology) already decided the range of examination in 2008. However, the discuss about how to construct the questions and what form of questions should be set was not conducted enough. Mathematics items of CSAT will have to undergo changes both in 2012 and 2014. Also, reconstruction of the examination questions for the past 16 years and the exploration of the new direction are strongly required. To accord with these requirements, this study analyze Japan's college entrance exam, NCTUA(National Center Test for University Admissions) which is the most similar to our exams. And then on the basis of this, the applicable implication to set mathematics questions in 2012 and 2014 CSAT will be deducted.
This paper explores the effect of relative age at elementary school entry, which is determined by birth date and school entrance law, on college entrance. First, I compare the college entrance rate between students born in January or February and those born in other months. Second, I estimate the effect of age at school entry on college entrance. Relatively older students at school entry are likely to have better educational outcomes during the first college entrance. However, these differences in educational outcomes seem to decrease the more that younger students repeat taking the college entrance exam.
The major purposes of this study were 1) to present a desirable guideline for writers who would develop the new Introduction-to-Industry textbook through the comparative analysis of 4 different kinds of current Introduction-to-Industry textbooks, 2) to help educators, who make national college entrance exam in the vocational inquiry area, make good exam items with the results of the study, and 3) to offer effective methods of teaching and learning in the field of industrial education with them. Research method used in this study was mainly literature review with the scrutinization of the literature related to the Introduction-to-Industry textbooks. Results of this study showed that all textbooks compared do mostly comply with the national writer's specific guidelines for the Introduction-to-Industry textbooks. However there were varieties for the all textbooks in a sense of deployment balance for the contents of the textbook chapters. There were also considerable differences for the deployment of supplementary materials, evaluative materials, visual materials and etc. according to the characteristics of each textbook. The degree of the connectivity between the textbooks and the national college entrance exam in the area of the vocational inquiry was similar for the each textbook. However, it was not good enough for the students to study one textbook for the preparation of the exam in the vocational inquiry area because the problems in the exam were set in the range of covering the all different kinds of textbooks by the examiners.
This study purports to investigate the determinants of individual personnel rating of the employees at a university hospital in Seoul, Korea. The sample used in this study consisted of 63 nurses, 41 para-medical staff (Clinical Pathologist, and Radiologist), and 67 administrative staff. Independent variables of the study included the achievement level of the selection test (English, major subject, and interview), post-entrance development factors (education and training, career development, supervisory support, co-worker support, and organizational support), and demographic characteristics. Data for the achievement level of the entrance exam and years for the first promotion were collected from the administrative records of the study hospital, while data for the post-entrance development factors were collected from the survey with self-administered questionnaires using 5-point Likert Scale during June 10-25, 2003. Collected data were analyzed using hierarchical multiple regression. The results of the study showed that achievement level of the interview and English exam at the selection test, education and training, organizational support, and supervisory support while working at the hospital, and length of duration (below 8 years) and educational background (4-year college graduates) among demographic variables had significant positive effects on the personnel rating. The results of the study imply that hospital administrators should make an effort to improve the validity of the selection test, and to motivate the employees to receive more education and training.
The purpose of this study is to provide the basic data for establishing a unique admissions promotion strategy for each university and to innovate the paradigm of university admissions promotion through the examples of central universities in the practice of PR promotion based on big data analysis. To this end, prior literature related to university publicity (marketing), and recognition of prospective college students who visited the university, and database data were defined and analyzed as big data. As a result, first, the preliminary studies related to college entrance exam promotion (marketing) increased dramatically in the 2000s and 2010s as part of preparing for countermeasures against population decline in school age. Responding to the need for an admissions promotion strategy to accelerate visits to prospective college students, the database data analysis result suggested the selection and concentration of entrance exam strategies based on the university's regional and academic characteristics.
We empirically verified whether there are different educational investment behaviors according to university admissions, using the Korean Education and Employment Panel data. The results are as follows; the average annual private education cost and the average amount of time spent studying alone per week of rolling admission type were lower than those of regular admission type. Also, rolling admission applicants had longer leisure and sleeping hours, such as watching TV and using computers. These results show the possibility that the university admission system will change the educational investment behavior. Furthermore, there is a possibility to induce the human capital investment to be made efficiently.

As the importance of informatics education has been accentuated all around the world, Japan is considering adopting 'informatics' as a subject in the university entrance examination from 2020. Under these circumstances, Informatics university entrance research group in Japan has annually conducted an 'informatics' nationwide mock test since 2013 to prepare for the time when 'informatics' is adopted as a subject in the university entrance exam and has accumulated the data which help understand the informatics education level of high school students and its trend. This study thus provided the Korean high school students with the questions which are the same as those from the informatics nationwide mock tests conducted in Japan so far in order to identify the education level of informatics among Korean and Japanese students. Overall mean scores and mean scores in each subject of Korean and Japanese students in the 2015 informatics nationwide mock tests were compared and analyzed and the gender analysis was conducted. These results will be expected to suggest the direction for the future informatics education such as adopting 'informatics' as a subject in the university entrance exam in order to be a compulsory subject in the high school curriculum that can ensure the required skills in society.
