Data Transmission System from Distant Area Using SD-Card and Ethernet (SD 카드와 이더넷을 이용한 원격지 데이터 전송시스템)

  • An aging Society solitary life old mans are increasing. The nurses have to visit old mans and must confirm their disease, because they do not act well. It is very difficult to take care old man, because the number of Nurses are small. This problem is solved by collection of data about condition of old mans from long distance. Data communication with Ethernet have benefit to collection of measurement of old man's condition. The Data storage system an long distance place are storaged data and after several day data was transmitted to the DB over the Ethernet. For Miniaturization of such system the system must be OS-less Embedded Ethernet Server system. Such system manages the file management system only with H/W. The Storage device is used SD-card. SD Card is small size and operates with small power. By using 512MB sd memory card, it is possible to storage during 5~6 years, 10 byte of temperature value per second. In this paper, we make a Embedded Ethernet Server using W3100A, Atmega128 MCU and data stroage device using SD-Card. This system operates with O/S-less Embedded Ethernet Server. We talk about file System, Storage and Ethernet. We explained about MCU Atmega128, Interface between LAN LSIand W3100A, Interface between W3100A and Phyceiver RTL8201, data I/O between MCU and SD-Card and File System. We shows the experiment device and result of monitoring.

The Characteristic and Management of Odor Emitted from Foodwaste Treatment Facility (음식물류폐기물 처리시설에서의 악취발생 특성 및 관리방안)

  • This study is understanding characteristics and analyzing contributions of the odor causing compounds of complex-odor & major specified odor materials, and contribution analysis, caused pre-treatment facilities(input and storage) and post-treatment facilities(heating and drying). The target of this study is feeds-production-facilities, located in Seoul. The averaged complex-odor compounds on the boundary line is 21 times higher, and it is 15 times higher than emission standards. In cracking&collection(pre-treatment facilities), the concentration of compounds is 4,881 times, 2,080 times in drying, and 1,442 times in putting&storing facilities. Ammonia occupies the largest portion of the results of monitoring specified odor compounds in input&storage facilities, followed Acetaldehyde > Hydrogen sulfide > Methyl mercaptan. In cracking&collection, Ammonia also occupies most of odor compounds, followed Methyl mercaptan > Acetaldehyde > Dimethyl disulfide > Dimethyl sulfide > Hydrogen sulfide. Acetaldehyde > Methyl mercaptan in drying facilities. On the boundary line, however, the concentration of specified odor compounds stays below emission standards. The result of contribution analysis is that methyl mercaptan has the highest contribution in input & storage, as well as cracking&collection facilities, followed Acetaldehyde > Hydrogen sulfide > Dimethyl sulfide > Dimethyl disulfide. In the drying facilities, the contribution shows Methyl mercaptan > Acetaldehyde > i-Valeraldehyde and Butyraldehyde. Therefore, to decrease odor in foodwaste treatment facilities, proper prevention facilities need to be installed and operated, according to characteristics of individual odor compounds, based on monitored data.

Comparison of Labor Period, Work Time, and Seedling Growth in Cutting and Pinning Transplants on 'Maehyang' Strawberry ('매향' 딸기 삽목묘와 유인묘의 노동 기간, 작업 시간 및 생육 비교)

  • The pinning method is the traditional method to produce strawberry transplants. But, cultivating the pinning transplant is a labor-intensive operation and needs a long labor period. The cutting method has been considered as an effective alternative to the pinning method, due to the relatively short labor period and works time. This study was conducted to investigate the labor period, work time, and growth between pinning and cutting methods for strawberry transplants. The 'Maehyang' strawberry was cultivated at each pinning and cutting strawberry greenhouses. The time for special works on pinning method (pinning work, elimination of mother plant, and division of daughter plant), and cutting method (cutting collection, pretreatment before storage, and cutting work) were measured. The pinning method needed 6 tasks (planting of mother plant, maintaining of mother plant, pinning work, maintaining of daughter plant, elimination of mother plant, and division of daughter plant) for 158 days, and cutting method needed 4 tasks (collection and storage of cutting, cutting work, misting, and maintaining of transplants) for 113 days to cultivate transplants for fruit. And pinning method needed more work time than the cutting method. There was no significant difference between the growth of pinning and cutting transplants. These results showed that the cutting method saved more labor period, work time than pinning during the nursery period without losing transplant quality.

Comparison of Seed Viability Among 42 Species Stored in a Genebank

  • This study was conducted to compare seed viability among 42 species after ten years of storage in the midterm storage complex ($4^{\circ}C$, 30-40% RH) at the National Agrobiodiversity Center (NAC) Korean genebank maintained by the Rural Development Administration (RDA), Republic of Korea and to suggest the relative seed longevity and suitable monitoring intervals. The germination data from initial tests and after ten years of storage were compared to measure changes in viability during storage. The decline in seed viability varied greatly among seeds from -11.5% for Triticum sp. to 80% for melon. Coriander, crowndaisy, safflower, cosmos, Chinesebellflower, waxgourd, melon, castorbean, Welch-onion, hollyhock, wild barley, and tallfescue showed significant decreases in viability of 34.2%, 73.4%, 36.5%, 30.0%, 40.2%, 71.3%, 80.0%, 65.9%, 45.5%, 51.4%, 53.0%, and 33.5%, respectively. Gardenpea, soybean, perilla, onion, wild rice, Italian-ryegrass, and pepper showed a 15-30% decline in viability, while the viability of morningglory, adzukibean, maize, and Capsicum sp. decreased by 15% to 5%. Chicory, radish, Chinese-cabbage, bottlegourd, watermelon, cucumber, pumpkin, Cucurbita sp., groundnut, kidneybean, clubwheat, sesame, wheat, Triticum sp., rice, barley, orchardgrass, buckwheat, and wild tomato showed changes in viability of <5%. The changes in storage viability also varied within families. The wild types of rice and barley showed rapid viability loss and presented different aspects from cultivars. Since seed viability of species, classified as index 1 or 2, showed germination losses >15% after ten years of storage, a viability test should be conducted with five year intervals, while species with germination loss of <15% (in index 3 or 4) can be retested at ten year intervals.

Evaluation of Storage Engine on Edge-Based Lightweight Platform using Sensor·OPC-UA Simulator (센서·OPC-UA 시뮬레이션을 통한 엣지 기반 경량화 플랫폼 스토리지 엔진 평가)

  • This paper analyzes and evaluates to optimally build a data collection system essential for factory energy management systems on an edge-based lightweight platform. A "Sensor/OPC-UA simulator" was developed based on sensors in an actual food factory and used to evaluate the storage engine of edge devices. The performance of storage engines in edge devices was evaluated to suggest the optimal storage engine. The experimental results show that when using the RocksDB storage engine, it has less than half the memory and database size compared to using InnoDB, and has a 3.01 times faster processing time. This study enables the selection of advantageous storage engines for managing time-series data on devices with limited resources and contributes to further research in this field through the sensor/OPC simulator.

Soft Error Rate Simulator for DRAM (DRAM 소프트 에러율 시뮬레이터)

  • A soft error rate (SER) simulator for DRAM was developed. In comparison to the other SER simulator using device simulator or Monte Carlo simulator, the proposed simulator substantially reduced the CPU time using an analytical model for the alpha-particle-induced charge collection. By analysing the soft error modes in DRAM, the bit-bar mode was identified as the main cause of soft error. Using the new SER simulator, SER of 256M DRAM was investigated and it was found that the storage capacitance had a 5fF margin.

  • Because of advances of technologies in the field of genmic epidemiology in the recent years, specimen collection, storage and analysis became an essential part of research methodologies. DNA is now being used in epidemiologic studies to evaluate genetic risk factors and specimens other than the fresh whole blood can De used for PCR. Therefore, All nucleated cells, such as buccal swabs and urine specimens, are suitable for DNA analysis. For an unlimited source of genomic DNA, EBV transformation of lymphocytes can be used for immortalization. However, the type of specimen collected in genomic epidemiologic studies will depend on the study where the epidemiologist play a leading role for the design. We also briefly described various finds of analysis for SNP that is an essential part of the genomic epidemiology.

  • In this study, in order to easily provide functional groups on the surface of carbon nanotubes, dual structural multiwalled carbon nanotubes which have crystalline graphite and turbostratic carbon wall were synthesized by modified vertical thermal decomposition method. Synthesized dual structural MWCNTs were characterized by FE-SEM, TGA, HR-TEM, Raman spectroscopy and BET specific surface area analyzer. The average innermost and outermost diameters of the synthesized nanotubes were around 45 and 75 nm, respectively. The large empty inner space and the presence of graphitic carbons on the surface may open potential applications for gas storage and collection of hazardous materials.

  • 최근 낸드 플래시 기반의 SSD가 상용화 되면서 기존의 HDD 저장 장치와 SSD를 함께 사용하는 Hybrid 저장장치에 대한 연구가 되고 있다. SSD의 빠른 읽기 및 쓰기 속도와 HDD의 대용량을 함께 효율적으로 사용하기 위하여 본 논문에서는 메모리에서 방출된 페이지들을 구별하여 각각의 저장장치에 저장하는 모델을 제안하였다. 이를 통하여 Hybrid 저장장치에서 SSD의 GC(Garbage Collection)을 최대한 줄임으로써 쓰기 속도를 향상시키고 HDD의 대용량 저장장치를 이용하여 전체적인 성능이 향상 된 것을 증명하였다.

  • Recently, local governments have started projects of implementing Geographic Information Systems (GIS) as an infrastructure for the collection, storage, and analysis of the spatial information. So far, these projects have been approached from the areas such as the civil engineering and the computer science perspectives. Nonetheless, in order for a GIS project to be successful, it should be approached from the management perspectives as well. In this paper, the authors discusses about the management issues such as the determination of priority of the sub-projects, the organizational structure that takes charge of the project and the evaluation of the performance of the project.
