체질임상정보의 효율적인 수집을 위한 입력시스템 구축 (Construction of input system for effective collection of Constitution clinical information)

  • Although the judgment of constitutions is given according to the Sasang Typology in domestic korean medicine hospitals and universities, the unified constitution clinical information has not been accumulated. Therefore, in this paper, based on collection items where oriental doctors and experts have already agreed, we construct the input system which correctly and effectively collects the clinical information of persons of which constitutions are distinguished explicitly. In the future, the input system could be utilized to collect clinical information continuously and will help to search and analyze the constitution clinical information.

보건의료정보관리 전공 학생의 임상실습 수행능력과 실습 만족도 (Clinical Practice Ability and Satisfaction of Clinical Training of Health-Medical Information Management Major Students)

  • Objectives : This study aimed to investigate the clinical practice ability and satisfaction of clinical training of health-medical information management major students. Methods : The data were collected from 68 persons from students finished clinical training at medical record (information) team using self administered questionnaires. The data were analyzed using t-test, ANOVA and correlation with SPSS 22.0 version. Results: Performance of data collection, data management, and data analysis were analyzed in three areas of the job area. In terms of academic characteristics and correlation, they were not related to the level of satisfaction with the practical experience. Conclusions : Research on a virtuous cycle clinical practice program that analyzes the factors by assessing the satisfaction level of clinical practice in each area of health care information management will be conducted continuously.

A Preliminary Study on Clinical Decision Support System based on Classification Learning of Electronic Medical Records

  • We employed a hierarchical document classification method to classify a massive collection of electronic medical records(EMR) written in both Korean and English. Our experimental system has been learned from 5,000 records of EMR text data and predicted a newly given set of EMR text data over 68% correctly. We expect the accuracy rate can be improved greatly provided a dictionary of medical terms or a suitable medical thesaurus. The classification system might play a key role in some clinical decision support systems and various interpretation systems for clinical data.

  • Objectives : Recently, in Sasang Constitution Medicine (SCM), many researchers have studied to construct objective diagnose tool for the SCM type. It is most important to collect correct constitutional clinical data in these studies. Methods : In our work, we construct a web-based system for collecting constitutional clinical data effectively. Results & Conclusion : The system offers 4 types of input programs, which helps to collect clinical information from various hospitals, and performs verification service to minimize input errors. Currently, we have collected about four thousands data using the our system and we will provide several analysis tool in the system for researchers.

  • Antimicrobials were one of the great invention of modern era. However, the abuse of antimicrobial both in human and animals has led to a high rate of occurrence of antimicrobial resistant microbes. Disease treatment caused by antimicrobial resistant microbes including superbacteria has emerged as critical issue worldwide. Communication and cooperation among researchers in diverse fields are needed to solve the resistance to antimicrobials. Culture Collection of Antimicrobial Resistant Microbes (CCARM) has taken a leadership role an intermediary among various research fields by providing certified antimicrobial resistant microbes with their information since 1999. CCARM collects antimicrobial resistant microbes from clinical, agricultural animals and products, and environmental fields, and classifies and stores them according to their origins, species and antimicrobial resistance mechanisms. CCARM is performing the roles (collection, deposit, preservation, distribution, service, and consulting) of Biological Resource Center designated by Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development.

일 대학병원 간호사의 실무능력과 실무교육 요구도 (A Study on Clinical Competence and Education Needs of Hospital Nurses)

  • Purpose: This study was designed to identify clinical competence and education needs of hospital nurses. Method: A questionnaire was used for data collection which was done form July 1 to July 30, 2005. The respondents were 165 staff nurses in a university hospital. The study instrument were clinical education need scale and Lee(2002)'s clinical competence scale. The data were analyzed using percentages, means, t-test, ANOVA with SPSS-WIN 10.0 program. Result: The results of this study are summarized as follows: The total mean score for clinical competence was 2.57 and education need was 3.30 on a 4 point scale. There was a significant difference in clinical competence according to individual factors of age, marital status, preceptorship experience, present ward, job satisfaction, and total clinical experience. also there was a significant difference in education needs according to preceptorship experience and present ward. Conclusions: Conducting a education needs and clinical competence assessment can provide valuable information that will plan education program and improve staff competence.

임상실습을 경험한 응급구조학과 학생들의 진로정체감, 진로결정수준 및 진로준비행동의 관계 (Relationship between career identity, career decision level and career preparation behavior of paramedic students after clinical practice)

  • Purpose: This study investigated career identity, decision-making, and preparation behaviors among emergency medical service (EMS) students after clinical practice, aiming to enhance their career guidance by identifying influential factors. Methods: This study targeted 178 students enrolled in the Department of Paramedicine in K-do, G-do, and D metropolitan cities. Data were collected between March 14th and April 30, 2024. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS 25.0, employing techniques such as frequency, correlation, and multiple regression analyses. Results: The findings indicated that components of career identity, encompassing affective and cognitive aspects, exerted significant effects on career decision levels (career assurance and career indecision) (p<.01, p<.001), whereas behavioral factors influenced aspects of career preparation, such as tool preparation, information collection, and practical effort(p<.001). Moreover, career decision levels (career assurance and career indecision) were found to affect information collection, a subcomponent of career preparation(p<.05, p<.01). Conclusion: Considering these factors and actively empathizing with and counseling students would lead to effective career guidance in the field of Emergency Medical Services.

The Intelligent Clinical Laboratory as a Tool to Increase Cancer Care Management Productivity

  • Studies of the causes of cancer, early detection, prevention or treatment need accurate, comprehensive, and timely cancer data. The clinical laboratory provides important cancer information needed for physicians which influence clinical decisions regarding treatment, diagnosis and patient monitoring. Poor communication between health care providers and clinical laboratory personnel can lead to medical errors and wrong decisions in providing cancer care. Because of the key impact of laboratory information on cancer diagnosis and treatment the quality of the tests, lab reports, and appropriate lab management are very important. A laboratory information management system (LIMS) can have an important role in diagnosis, fast and effective access to cancer data, decrease redundancy and costs, and facilitate the integration and collection of data from different types of instruments and systems. In spite of significant advantages LIMS is limited by factors such as problems in adaption to new instruments that may change existing work processes. Applications of intelligent software simultaneously with existing information systems, in addition to remove these restrictions, have important benefits including adding additional non-laboratory-generated information to the reports, facilitating decision making, and improving quality and productivity of cancer care services. Laboratory systems must have flexibility to change and have the capability to develop and benefit from intelligent devices. Intelligent laboratory information management systems need to benefit from informatics tools and latest technologies like open sources. The aim of this commentary is to survey application, opportunities and necessity of intelligent clinical laboratory as a tool to increase cancer care management productivity.

Korean healthcare providers' attitude, knowledge, and behaviors regarding sexual orientation and gender identity: a cross-sectional survey

  • Purpose: This study investigated Korean healthcare providers' attitudes toward sexual and gender minority (SGM) persons and their knowledge and behavior concerning the collection of data on sexual orientation and gender identity (SO/GI). Methods: In this cross-sectional, descriptive study, 137 Korean healthcare providers were recruited through convenience sampling from internet communities for medical professionals. A structured questionnaire was created using Google Surveys. The Mann-Whitney U-test, Kruskal-Wallis test, and Spearman correlation analysis were performed. Results: The sample was mostly women (80.3%) and nurses (83.9%), who had overall negative attitudes toward SGM persons and low levels of knowledge and behavior with regard to the collection of patients' SO/GI data. Participants in their 20s, who were religious, and had clinical experiences in treating or providing nursing care for SGM persons had higher levels of knowledge about the collection of SO/GI data. The level of engagement in collecting SO/GI data was higher among women and in their 20s and 30s, unreligious participants, nurses, and those with less than 10 years of clinical experience. Positive attitudes toward SGM persons were associated with higher levels of knowledge, but lower levels of behavior, regarding the collection of SO/GI data. Conclusion: It is important to recognize the diversity of patients' SO/GI and to collect the corresponding information. To this end, it is necessary to develop and use a standardized SO/GI form. Healthcare providers should also receive education and training related to the health of SGM persons to resolve health problems that disproportionately affect SGM persons and related health disparities.

모바일 폰을 이용한 원격 환자 관리 시스템의 구현 (Implementation of a Remote Patient Monitoring System using Mobile Phones)

  • 병실의 환자 관리는 자동적으로 측정되는 환자의 생체 및 환경 데이터뿐만 아니라 의사 또는 간호사에 의해서 작성되는 임상 데이터(병실 차트) 또한 환자 관리에 있어서 중요한 데이터로 인식되고 있다. 그러나 병실 환경에서 임상 데이터는 자동적으로 측정되는 데이터들과 분리되어 수집되고 있어, 이 두 데이터의 효율적인 통합이 이루어지지 않고 사용되고 있다. 그 이유는 두 데이터의 수집되는 시간이 각기 다르기 때문에 통합하기가 어렵고, 임상 데이터의 재구성은 현저한 불확실성을 가지게 된다. 이런 문제를 해결하기 위해서는 연속적인 병실의 환경 데이터와 임상 데이터를 동기화하는 방법은 중요한 문제로 대두되고 있다. 또한 소형 장치에 대한사용의 증가와 무선 기반의 솔루션 개발은 헬스 케어 개발자들에게 변함없는 통신 플랫폼을 제공한다. 따라서 본 논문은 모바일 폰을 이용한 웹 기반의 원격 환자 관리 시스템을 구현한다. 즉, 간호사나 의사에 의해서 작성되는 임상 데이터와 병실의 환경 데이터는 무선 센서 네트워크를 구성하여 장치 모듈에 의해서 데이터를 수집하고, 관찰자의 모바일 폰으로 임상 데이터와 병실 환경 데이터를 확인하고 데이터베이스에 통합하여 저장한다. 환자의 가족은 병원 외부에서 모바일 폰이나 퍼스닐 컴퓨터를 통해 병원에서 작성한 임상 데이터를 열람하고 병실의 환경을 관찰함으로써 보다 양질의 의료 서비스를 지원할 수 있다.
