Recommender System can help users to find products to Purchase. A representative method for recommender systems is collaborative filtering (CF). It predict products that user may like based on a group of similar users. User information is based on user's ratings for products and similarities of users are measured by ratings. As user is increasing tremendously, the performance of the pure collaborative filtering is lowed because of high dimensionality and scarcity of data. We consider the effect of dimension deduction in collaborative filtering to cope with scarcity of data experimentally. We suggest that SVD improves the performance of collaborative filtering in comparison with pure collaborative filtering.

There are many recommendation systems available to provide users with personalized services. Among them, the most frequently used in electronic commerce is 'collaborative filtering', which is a technique that provides a process of filtering customer information for the preparation of profiles and making recommendations of products that are expected to be preferred by other users, based on such information profiles. Collaborative filtering systems, however, have in their nature both technical issues such as sparsity, scalability, and transparency, as well as security issues in the collection of the information that becomes the basis for preparation of the profiles. In this paper, we suggest a movie recommendation system, based on the selection of optimal personal propensity variables and the utilization of a secure collaborating filtering system, in order to provide a solution to such sparsity and scalability issues. At the same time, we adopt 'push attack' principles to deal with the security vulnerability of collaborative filtering systems. Furthermore, we assess the system's applicability by using the open database MovieLens, and present a personal propensity framework for improvement in the performance of recommender systems. We successfully come up with a movie recommendation system through the selection of optimal personalization factors and the embodiment of a safe collaborative filtering system.

Combining collaborative filtering with some other technique is most common in hybrid recommender systems. As many recommended items from collaborative filtering seem to be similar with respect to content, the collaborative-content hybrid system suffers in terms of quality recommendation and recommending new items as well. To alleviate such problem, we have developed a novel method that uses a diversity metric to select the dissimilar items among the recommended items from collaborative filtering, which together with the input when fed into content space let us improve and include new items in the recommendation. We present experimental results on movielens dataset that shows how our approach performs better than simple content-based system and naive hybrid system

In ubiquitous environment, information retrieval using collaborative filtering is a popular technique for reducing information overload. Collaborative filtering systems can produce personal recommendations by computing the similarity between your preference and the one of other people. We integrate the collaboration filtering method and context-aware information retrieval method. The proposed method enables to find some relevant information to specific user's contexts. It aims to makes more effective information retrieval to the users. The proposed method is conceptually comprised of two main tasks. The first task is to tag context tags by automatic tagging technique. The second task is to recommend items for each user's contexts integrating collaborative filtering and information retrieval. We describe a new integration method algorithm and then present a u-commerce application prototype.

Collaborative filtering is one of the most widely used methodologies for recommendation system. Collaborative filtering is based on a data matrix of each customer's preferences and frequently, there exits missing data problem. We introduced two imputation approach (multiple imputation via Markov Chain Monte Carlo method and multiple imputation via bootstrap method) to improve the prediction performance of collaborative filtering and evaluated the performance using EachMovie data.

In this paper, we propose a collaborative filtering recommendation algorithm based on the LDA2Vec topic model. By extracting and analyzing the article's content, calculate their semantic similarity then combine the traditional collaborative filtering algorithm to recommend. This approach may promote the system's recommend accuracy.

In recent years most of personalized recommender systems in electronic commerce utilize collaborative filtering algorithm in order to recommend more appropriate items. User-based collaborative filtering is based on the ratings of other users who have similar preferences to a user in order to predict the rating of an item that the user hasn't seen yet. This nay decrease the accuracy of prediction because the similarity between two users is computed with respect to the two users and only when an item has been rated by the users. In item-based collaborative filtering, the preference of an item is predicted based on the similarity between the item and each of other items that have rated by users. This method, however, uses the ratings of users who are not the neighbors of a user for computing the similarity between a pair of items. Hence item-based collaborative filtering may degrade the accuracy of a recommender system. In this paper, we present a new approach that a user's neighborhood is used when we compute the similarity between the items in traditional item-based collaborative filtering in order to compensate the weak points of the current item-based collaborative filtering and to improve the prediction accuracy. We empirically evaluate the accuracy of our approach to compare with several different collaborative filtering approaches using the EachMovie collaborative filtering data set. The experimental results show that our approach provides better quality in prediction and recommendation list than other collaborative filtering approaches.

In collaborative filtering, many neighbors are needed to improve the quality and stability of the recommendation. The quality may not be good mainly due to the high similarity between two users not guaranteeing the same preference for products considered for recommendation. This paper proposes a consistency definition, rather than similarity, based on information entropy between two users to improve the recommendation. This kind of consistency between two users is then employed as a trust metric in collaborative filtering methods that select neighbors based on the metric. Empirical studies show that such collaborative filtering reduces the number of neighbors required to make the recommendation quality stable. Recommendation quality is also significantly improved.

Recommendation system is one way of implementing personalized service. The collaborative filtering is one of the major techniques that have been employed for recommendation systems. It has proven its effectiveness in the recommendation systems for such domain as motion picture or music. However, it has some limitations, i.e., sparsity and scalability. In this research, as one way of overcoming such limitations, we proposed the stepwise collaborative filtering method. To show the practicality of our proposed method, we designed and implemented a movie recommendation system which we shall call Step_CF, and its performance was evaluated using MovieLens data. The performance of Step_CF was better than that of Basic_CF that was implemented using the original collaborative filtering method.

In this paper, we propose how to improve the lack of diversity in collaborative filtering, using tag scores contained in items rather than ratings of items. Collaborative filtering has excellent performance among recommendation system, but it is evaluated as lacking diversity. In order to solve this problem, this paper proposes a method for supplementing diversity lacking in collaborative filtering by using tags. By using tags that can be used universally without using the characteristics of specific articles in a recommendation system, The proposed method can be used.
