Thermoacoustic refrigerators are operated with acoustic power to pump heat. The acoustic standing wave displaces the gas In the channels of the stack while compressing and expanding. The thermal interaction between the osillating gas he surface of the stack generates an acoustic heat pumping. in this study, a thermoacoustic refrigerator is composed of a resonator of 4cm diameter, stack of plates, heat exchangers and cooling part. Length of the hot heat exchangers, the stack of plates and the cold heat exchanger are 9mm, 8mm and 6mm respectively. Using helium as a coolant at frequency of 516Hz, the cold-part temperature of exchanger fell to $-19.0^{\circ}C$ after 1hours.

Recently, plasma surface-cleaning or surface-etching techniques have been focused in respect of the decontamination of spent or used nuclear parts and equipment. In this study the removal rate of metallic cobalt surface is experimentally investigated via its surface etching rate with a $CF_4-o_2$mixed gas plasma. Experimental results reveal that a mixed etchant gas with about 80% $CF_4$-20% $O_2$ (molar) gives the highest reaction rate and the rate reaches 0.06 ${\mu}m$/min at $380^{\circ}C$ and ion-assisted etching dramatically enhances the surface reaction rate. With a negative 300 V DC bias voltage applied to the substrate, the surface reaction initiation temperature lowers and the rate increases about 20 times at $350^{\circ}C$ and up to 0.43 ${\mu}m$/min at $380^{\circ}C$, respectively. Surface morphology analysis confirms the etching rate measurements. Auger spectrum analysis clearly shows the adsorption of fluorine atoms on the reacted surface. From the current experimental findings and the results discussed in previous studies, mechanistic understanding of the surface reaction, fluorination and/or fluoro-carbonylation reaction, is provided.
In this study, the Peltier effect was applied to eliminate moistures in the air enclosed by a cabinet. We have developed the new electronic dehumidifier which has a new function of automatically evaporating the condensed water inner cabinet into the outside air. To obtain this function, the processes of dehumidification is that it condensed the moistures on the cold side heat sink and drained it into the hot side heat sink by the both gravitational and capillary forces and the droplets on the hot side heat sink surface was evaporated into the air outside the cabinet by the heat conducted through the hot side heat sink surface and the forced heat convection through the fan for cooling hot side heat sink. Compared to existing electronic dehumidifiers, this manufactured one showed a good performance that the electric power consumption for the same dehumidifying quantity was reduced by 50% compared with that of existing ones.

we have quantitatively investigated the possibility of feeding oxygen radical in air environment. The oxygen radical generation from the plasma was verified and its efficiency was found to be dependent on the cathode material by the analysis with optical emission spectroscopy as well as by the quartz crystal micro-balance method.

The Rates of formation and heats of activation for the intermatallic Compound Layers between Cold rolled sheet and molten aluminium &ath (adding small amounts of silicon) has been determined by Continous aluminizing method in the temperature range of 680$^{\circ}$ to 760$^{\circ}C$ and with immerssion time. The structure of the intermetallic Compound Layers was the shape of "Tongues" in pure Al-Bath and Al-Bath Containing 1% Si, But in Al-5% Si Bath was "Band" the Composition of the intermetallic Compound Layers were checked by microhardness measurements and X-Ray probe micro analyzer. FeAl intermetallic Compound layer was found to be uniform in pure Al-Bath and Al-5% Si Bath, But Fe Al intermetallic Compound Layer was shown in Al-1% Si Bath. The growth Rates of the intermetallic Compound Layers was most rapidly increased at Temperatures from 720$^{\circ}$ to 760$^{\circ}C$, at the immorsion time above 60 Second in pure Al-Bath, But in Al-1% Si Bath was solwly increased for the same conditions, and then in Al-5% Si Bath was hardly effected by these experimental condition. Heasts of activation of 29, 46 Kcal per mole which calculuted from Layer growth experiments were found in pure Al-Bath, Al-1% Si Bath respectively.

The hydrodynamic stability equations are formulated for buoyancy-induced flows adjacent to a vertical, planar, isothermal surface in cold pure water. The resulting stability equations, when reduced to ordinary differential equation by a similarity transformation, constitute a two-point boundary-value(eigenvalue) problem, which was numerically solved for various values of the density extremum parameter R=( $T_{m}$ - $T_.inf./) / ( $T_{o}$ - $T_.inf./). These stability equations have been solved using a computer code designed to accurately solve two-point boundary-value problems. The present numerical study includes neutral stability results for the region of the flows corresponding to 0.0.leq. R. leq.0.15, where the outside buoyancy force reversals arise. The results show that a small amount of outside buoyancy force reversal causes the critical Grashof number $G^*/ to increase significantly. A further increase of the outside buoyancy force reversal causes the critical Grashof number to decrease. But the dimensionless frequency parameter $B^*/ at $G^*/ is systematically decreased. When the stability results of the present work are compared to the experimental data, the numerical results agree in a qualitative way with the experimental data.erimental data.

The heat budget is investigated in the Gumi Reservoir of the Nakdong river. In warm climate season, solar radiation effects play a important role in the change of water temperature. The features of the surface heat balance are almost derived by the latent heat flux and the solar radiation flux. On the other hand, in cold climate season, change of heat stored in the water is mainly dominated by latent and sensible heat transfer between water and air, since flux of solar radiation and loss of outgoing long wave radiation balance approximately. For the annual averages, net flux of radiation, evaporation(latent heat) loss are dominant in the Gumi reservoir. The evaporation losses are dominant from spring to early winter. This means that the Gumi reservoir rolls like a lake of thermal medium or deep depth.
The concept of Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion (OTEC) is simple and various types of OTEC have been proposed and tried. However the location of OTEC is limited because OTEC requires $20^{\circ}C$ of temperature difference as a minimum, so most of OTEC plants were constructed and experimented in tropical oceans. To solve this we proposed the modified OTEC which uses condenser discharged thermal energy of existing fossil or nuclear power plants. We call this system CTEC (Condenser Thermal Energy Conversion) as this system directly uses $32^{\circ}C$ partially saturated steam in condenser instead of $20{\sim}25^{\circ}C$ surface sea water as heat source. Increased temperature difference can improve thermal efficiency of Rankine cycle, but CTEC should be located near existing plant condenser and the length of cold water pipe between CTEC and deep cold sea water also increase. So friction loss also increases. Calculated result shows the change of efficiency, pumping power, net power and other parameters of modeled 7.9 MW CTEC at given condition. The calculated efficiency of CTEC is little larger than that of typical OTEC as expected. By proper location and optimization, CTEC could be considered another competitive renewable energy system.
For vessels operating in the cold climate regions, the ballast water inside or hopper tanks above the waterline may be frozen, starting at the top of the tank and at the side walls. Therefore, countermeasures against freeze-up of the ballast tank such as air-bubbling system, hot steam injecting system, heating coil system and water circulating system are taken to prevent freeze-up phenomenon; however, there are no rigorous investigations of anti-freezing to examine the effectiveness and validity of systems against freeze-up of the ballast tank, in which the temperatures are about $-25^{\circ}C$ (ambient air temperature) and $0^{\circ}C$ (sea water), respectively. In this paper, to ensure reasonable specifications for cold regions if the measures from the above-mentioned systems against freeze-up are effective, the phenomenon of ballast tank freeze-up is simulated and discussed in low temperature conditions. With the results using the commercial CFD code, CFX 14, the most cost-effective solution is conducted to prevent being frozen along the outer surface.
Effects of annealing temperature on the microstructure and mechanical properties through thickness of a cold-rolled Cu-3.0Ni-0.7Si alloy were investigated in detail. The copper alloy with thickness of 3 mm was rolled to 50 % reduction at ambient temperature without lubricant and subsequently annealed for 0.5h at $200{\sim}900^{\circ}C$. The microstructure of the copper alloy after annealing was different in thickness direction depending on an amount of the shear and compressive strain introduced by rolling; the recrystallization occurred first in surface regions shear-deformed largely. The hardness distribution of the specimens annealed at $500{\sim}700^{\circ}C$ was not uniform in thickness direction due to partial recrystallization. This ununiformity of hardness corresponded well with an amount of shear strain in thickness direction. The average hardness and ultimate tensile strength showed the maximum values of 250Hv and 450MPa in specimen annealed at $400^{\circ}C$, respectively. It is considered that the complex mode of strain introduced by rolling effected directly on the microstructure and the mechanical properties of the annealed specimens.
