  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the mediating effect of interpersonal relationship on the relationship between attachment and subjective well-being of university students. We conducted a survey on 336 university students in Andong-si and Cheongju-si. The data were analyzed by Pearson's productive correlation, hierarchical regression analysis and Sobel test. The results were as follows: First, affective well-being made an effect by avoidant attachment and anxiety attachment, and was more affected by interpersonal relationship than anxiety attachment including mediating variable of interpersonal relationship. Second, there was a significant effect in cognitive well-being only by anxiety attachment. Including mediating variables of interpersonal relationship, cognitive well-being affected by interpersonal relationship only. Third, interpersonal relationship mediated partially the relationship between attachment and affective well-being, and perfectly between attachment and cognitive well-being.

  • This paper presents an analytical framework for dynamic spectrum allocation in cognitive radio networks. We propose a distributed queuing based Markovian model each for single channel and multiple channels access for a contending user. Knowledge about spectrum mobility is one of the most challenging problems in both these setups. To solve this, we consider probabilistic channel availability in case of licensed channel detection for single channel allocation, while variable data rates are considered using channel aggregation technique in the multiple channel access model. These models are designed for a centralized architecture to enable dynamic spectrum allocation and are compared on the basis of access latency and service duration.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze variable-controlling strategy (below vcs) and the ability to infer the effect of variables in Middle school students who experienced 'Thinking Science' activities in a CASE program. For this study, 71 9th grade students experienced in CASE program for 2 years were selected as the experimental group and 72 students were selected as the control group. All students were tested with Science Reasoning TaskVII. The five types of variable-controlling strategy were extracted from students' response. According to the result of this study, the students experienced in CASE program was more successful in the variable-controlling strategy of length, quality, and shape than the control group. The types of reasoning ability of the variable effect intuitively were categorized as possibility of reasoning, impossibility of reasoning, and impossibility of reversible thinking. It has shown that the reasoning ability of the experimental group was higher than that of the control group in the length and thickness variable effect. The results of this study implied that the variable controlling activities in CASE program could be effective for learning variable controlling, and eventually, for the development of reasoning ability of the variable controlling effect. In the ability to infer the effects of variables to get difficult Intuitively, both groups were similar to the rate of cognitive level reached to the formal operation in generalization, and the student of experimental group was 1.5 times faster than the control group.

  • This study was conducted to identify the influence of the convergent lifestyles of the elderly consisting of physical exercise, smoking, drinking and social participation and the types of social participation on the risk of cognitive decline by using the 6th Korean Longitudinal Study of Ageing(KLoSA). Total 4,298 people aged 65 or older were included. Results show that all of lifestyle factors are significantly effected to prevent cognitive decline, social participation was derived as the most important explanatory variable to lower the risk of cognitive decline. In addition, participating in the religious groups, ascriptive groups, and expressive groups lowered the risk of cognitive decline. Therefore, active support at the community and policy for improving the convergent lifestyle of the elderly are needed.

  • The purpose of this study is to contemplate the relationship between a cognitive styles(field-independence/dependence, Fl/D)and a technological problem solving(TPS) among the industrial high school students. When it comes to perception, remembrance and consideration, we all have our own individual and steady patterns. We call them cognitive styles. FI/D is one kind of cognitive styles and it is about how dependently we perceive the field which each object has. Custer(1995) presented the technological problem among problem solving existed in various types as organizing it with four conceptional frames, which are invention, design, trouble shooting and procedures. We tested 56students belong to B industrial high school in A city, Korea. We used Group Embedded Figures Test(GEFT) to experiment the FI/D cognitive styles. We also did the TPS test by using an appliance which a researcher has developed. The appliance was made according to the technological problem and its validity was justified by an expert. We came up with a correlation coefficient between the FI/D cognitive styles and TPS to figure out what kind of relationship those two variable factors have and how much they are correlated each other. The correlation coefficient turned out ".59" which means they have significant and positive correlation. To find out the TPS difference between FI group and FD group, we compared each group's TPS score. As a result of the analysis, the FI group's TPS score is significantly higher than FD group's one.

  • Based on advanced research, this study examined the relations between savoring belief and gratitude, and identify a model of the mediating mechanisms of positive affect and cognitive emotion regulation in the relation between savoring belief and gratitude. For this purpose, savoring belief, positive affect, cognitive emotion regulation, and gratitude were measured, among 485 adults. Using a structural equation model, hypothesis and the patterns of variables was confirmed. The results showed that savoring belief, gratitude, positive affect, adaptive cognitive emotion regulation have the positive correlation and savoring belief, gratitude, positive affect was negatively correlated with maladaptive cognitive emotion regulation. The dual mediation effect by positive affect and adaptive cognitive emotion regulation was also verified. Implications for clinical practice, limitations of the study and suggestions for future researches are discussed.

  • Nowadays, smartphones have become a portable multimedia computer because of a variety of useful applications in our daily lives, which can be downloaded and installed easily in smartphones. Despite of the fact that, however in the IS literature there has been little research on smartphone applications' user interface design. Specifically, there has been little understanding about smartphone users' cognitive functions as a mediating variable in the relationship between the user interface design of smartphone applications and users' work performance with the applications. Thus, the research aims of this study are to examine 1) the effects of the user interface design attributes including simplicity, consistency, and metaphor on the compliance with or the extension of users' mental models representing users' cognitive functions, and 2) the effects of the users' cognitive functions on their work performance with the applications. A survey was conducted and Structural Equation Modeling(SEM) was employed to analyze the data. The results of this study showed that two of the user interface design attributes, simplicity and consistency, strongly affected users' cognitive functions. In addition, users' cognitive functions significantly influenced users' work performance. However, there was no relationship between the metaphors in the user interfaces of smartphone applications and the compliance with users' mental model. This study contributed theoretically not only to explore users' mental models that are rarely investigated in the IS field, but also to add some findings related to users' cognitive functions to the IS literature. This study also can help practitioners to develop more user friendly user interfaces of smartphone applications by suggesting the design attributes, such as simplicity, consistency, and metaphor.

  • The purpose of this research Is to inquire into the aspects of consumers' perception of age and their lifestyle and to reveal the effect of variability in spending behaviors themselves. A survey was carried out regarding the consumers of the new elderly generation aged 55 and above. 561 respondents were surveyed. residing in Seoul and Metropolitan areas. Factor analysis from the exploratory reconnaissance, Cronbach's $\alpha$, K-average community and multivariate analysis, multi-recurrence and crossing analysis($\chi^2$ verified), were used for statistics analysis. In conclusion, the cognitive age only shared a marginal relationship with lifestyle, most people in their forties stood out in this part of the research. The change of the cognitive age and lifestyle of the new elderly generation is expected to be a variable in the clothing purchasing behavior in the future. As the population of the new elderly generation increases, there is a need for changing views towards the new elderly generation and there is no doubt that it is a main target within marketing trends in the elderly generation industry.

  • The effects of coping on physical and psychosocial adaptation in the 297 patients with rheumatoid arthritis were investigated. The coping methods were divided into compliance of medical regimens, self-control activities, and cognitive control. The effects of these coping methods was analyzed with stepwise regression. The physical adaptation is found to be significantly affected by cognitive control, self-control activities, and compliance of medical regimens in order Compliance of the medical regimens affects negatively the physical adaptation. And psychosocial adaptation is significantly affected by the cognitive control. The analysis of these results by illness duration showed the distinct differences. That is in the patients who experienced the disease less than 48 months, the physical and the psychosocial adaptation were significantly affected only by the cognitive control. But in the patients who experienced the disease more than 96 months, the physical and the psychosocial adaptation were significantly affected by self-control activities. Based upon these results, it is recommended that the nurses who care the newly diagnosed patients emphasize on the positive side of the state. And the patients who are diagnosed long ago need the nursing programs which teach and promote self-control activities. Also it is suggested that the results of compliance must be considered rather than as the result variable.
