로그 데이터의 유형분석 및 인지심리적 속성 추출을 이용한 모바일 게이머 유형화 연구 (Mobile Gamer Categorization with Archetypal Analysis and Cognitive-Psychological Features from Log Data)

  • 데이터 분석 영역에 있어 게이머의 유형을 분류하거나 게이머의 특성을 분석하는 연구는 데이터 분석 연구자들이 많은 관심을 가지는 분야 중 하나이다. 과거부터 현재까지 게이머 유형화나 게이머 분석에 대해 많은 연구가 진행되어 왔다. 하지만, 대부분의 연구는 설문조사나 생체신호를 이용하고 있는데, 이는 많은 데이터를 얻기 힘들어 실용적이지 못한다. 또는 게임로그를 이용하더라도 단순히 통계적인 수치만을 추출하여 게이머를 유형화하고 분석하고 있어 게이머의 심리분석에 어려움이 있다. 하지만 기본적인 게임 로그로부터 게이머의 인지심리정보를 추출할 수 있다면, 게이머 분석을 보다 직관적이고 손쉽게 할 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 모바일 Role Playing Game(RPG) 게임인 크레이지 드래곤의 게임로그를 이용하여 게이머의 행동과 심리정보를 나타내는 8개의 인지심리속성을 추출하였다. 그 후, 이를 기반으로 게이머의 유형을 분류하였으며, 각 유형별 특징을 추출한 인지심리속성으로 분석하였다. 그 결과, 대부분의 게이머가 1~2가지 유형과 높은 연관성을 가지고 있는 것으로 확인되었다.

안정 상태에서의 정량 뇌파를 이용한 기계학습 기반의 경도인지장애 환자의 감별 진단 모델 개발 및 검증 (Development and Validation of a Machine Learning-based Differential Diagnosis Model for Patients with Mild Cognitive Impairment using Resting-State Quantitative EEG)

  • Early detection of mild cognitive impairment can help prevent the progression of dementia. The purpose of this study was to design and validate a machine learning model that automatically differential diagnosed patients with mild cognitive impairment and identified cognitive decline characteristics compared to a control group with normal cognition using resting-state quantitative electroencephalogram (qEEG) with eyes closed. In the first step, a rectified signal was obtained through a preprocessing process that receives a quantitative EEG signal as an input and removes noise through a filter and independent component analysis (ICA). Frequency analysis and non-linear features were extracted from the rectified signal, and the 3067 extracted features were used as input of a linear support vector machine (SVM), a representative algorithm among machine learning algorithms, and classified into mild cognitive impairment patients and normal cognitive adults. As a result of classification analysis of 58 normal cognitive group and 80 patients in mild cognitive impairment, the accuracy of SVM was 86.2%. In patients with mild cognitive impairment, alpha band power was decreased in the frontal lobe, and high beta band power was increased in the frontal lobe compared to the normal cognitive group. Also, the gamma band power of the occipital-parietal lobe was decreased in mild cognitive impairment. These results represented that quantitative EEG can be used as a meaningful biomarker to discriminate cognitive decline.

An Analysis of Structural Features, Contents, and Cognitive Levels of Questions of Korea and Secondary Textbooks in the Evolution Unit

  • The purpose of this study was to seek strengths and weaknesses from analyzing Korea and U.S. science textbooks in terms of general structural features, contents, cognitive levels of questions and the purpose of questions used in science textbooks. This provided insight into improvement of textbooks that can effectively assist teaching and learning. To investigate organization of unit in textbooks in-depth, the evolution unit was selected and scrutinized as one example. The results showed that the number of pages, activities, vocabulary words, and vocabulary lists are considerably different between Korean and the U.S. Commonly, U.S. textbooks were more laden with information and lacking in coherence than those of the Korean textbooks. The findings on the cognitive levels of questions showed that the majority of questions in both nations are concerned with knowledge. However, the difference between the two nations is great in the ratios of analysis, synthesis, and evaluation questions. Questions are concentrated in review section (45% of Korean and 60.6% of U.S.) in textbooks. It suggested that well-planned questions in a review section can provide the basic guidance for strength in a science classroom.

웹 기반 OPAC시스템 평가에서의 이용자 인지형태에 관한 연구 (A Study on the User Cognitive Styles in the Web-based OPAC System Evaluation)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 이용자의 인지유형과 그에 따른 웹기반 OPAC시스템 평가에 대한 상관관계를 알아보기 위한 것이다. 이용자들의 인지유형은 (1)Verbaliser/Imager와 (2) Wholist/Analytic으로 나누었고 웹기반 OPAC시스템의 (1)기능적인 측면과 (2)학습용이성 측면에 초점을 맞추어 평가를 하였다. 연구방법으로는 (1)사전조사를 위한 인터뷰, (2)주된 데이터 수집을 위한 질문지, 그리고 (3) 이용자의 인지형태 결정을 위해서 심리측정학(psychometric)방법을 사용하였다. 사전조사결과와 문헌의 리뷰에 근거하여 온라인 조사방법으로 (1)웹기반 온라인 질문지와 (2) Riding의 CSA(Cognitive Style Assessment)을 Sheffield 대학 캠퍼스 네트워크에 연결된 모든 PC에서 접속할 수 있게 온라인 테스트 환경을 구성하였다. 이 환경을 통하여 44명의 석.박사 학생들이 자발적으로 본 실험에 참가를 했으며, 이들로부터 수집된 데이터는 SPSS(Statistical Package for Social Science)를 이용하여 분석하였다. 통계분석에서 각 평가항목 변수들간의 상관관계분석을 위해서 피어슨(Pearson)의 상관계수 (Coefficient, f)를 사용하였다. 연구결과 개인의 인지형태와 웹기반 OPAC시스템 평가간에는 비교적 낮은 통계학적인 상관관계를 보였다.

정보처리작업에서의 인간수행도 관련 변수와 직무배치에의 활용 (A study on the variables affecting on human performance in information processing tasks and its application to job placement)

  • For information processing tasks, it is an important cognitive skill to manipulate and store information, which is known as information intake. One of the tasks which greatly involve this skill would be a spreadsheet calculation task. In this study, a spreadsheet calculation task is analyzed by the cognitive task analysis based on the cognitive factors having been usef for a model of human information processing. By the results of the cognitive task analysis, the spreadsheet calculation tasks to be used in the experiments are designed and the testbattery of cognitive abilities assessment (CCAB ; complex cognitive asssessment battery) are selected. Then, the features of cognitive demands and a human performance model of the spreadsheet calculation task are suggested by means of correlation analysis, principal component factor analysis, and regression analysis of the results of the experiments on task performances and the assessment of cognitive abilities. Also, the application of the results of the study to job placement and further research issues are described.

Assessment of Students' Cognitive Conflicts and Anxiety

  • Cognitive conflict is well recognized as an important factor in conceptual change and is widely used in developing constructivism-based curricula. However, cognitive conflicts can also contribute to student anxiety during learning, which, when not properly addressed, can have negative impacts on students' motivation and achievement. Therefore, instructors need to be aware of the impacts of introducing cognitive conflicts in their instruction. We need a practical instrument that can help identify the existence and features of cognitive conflicts introduced by the instruction and the resulting anxiety. Based on the literature on studies of cognitive conflicts and student anxiety, we developed a quantitative instrument, the In-class Conflict and Anxiety Recognition Evaluation (iCARE), and used it to monitor the status of students' cognitive conflicts and anxiety in Physics by Inquiry (PBI) classes. In this paper, we introduce this instrument and present the types of information that can be obtained. Research and pedagogical values of this instrument are also discussed.

과학일지 쓰기가 과학영재의 인지적 ${\cdot}$ 정의적 특성에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Science Journal Writings on the cognitive and affective features of the science gifted students)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 과학일지 쓰기 활동이 과학영재의 인지적 ${\cdot}$ 정의적 특성에 미치는 영향을 알아보기 위한 것으로 대학 부설 영재교육원 소속 과학영재 21명을 대상으로 6 개월간 온라인으로 과학일지를 쓰게 하고 분석하였다. 연구 결과 과학일지에서 글쓰기 형식에 따라 과학개념이 드러나는 양상과 함께 과학영재의 심리 ${\cdot}$ 행동적 특성이 정적 양상과 부적 양상을 보이고 있다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 또한 과학일지 쓰기는 인지적 측면에서 과학영재의 과학개념에 대한 이해와 탐구력을 향상시키며, 정의적 측면에서 관찰력이나 과학에 대한 흥미와 태도 및 글쓰기에 대한 태도를 향상시킨다. 따라서 과학일지 쓰기는 과학영재의 인지적 ${\cdot}$ 정의적 특성에 긍정적인 영향을 준다는 것을 알 수 있다. 또한 과학영재는 과학일지 쓰기가 매우 유익하며 영재교육 프로그램으로도 적합하다고 인식하고 있어, 이러한 결과는 과학일지 쓰기 활동이 영재교육 프로그램으로 활용 될 수 있다는 것을 의미한다.

루이소체 치매의 증상과 치료 (Clinical Features and Pharmacological Treatment of Dementia with Lewy Bodies)

  • Dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB) is the second most common causes of dementia. It can exhibit a variety of clinical symptoms including cognitive decline, cognitive fluctuation, visual hallucinations, parkinsonism, REM sleep behavior disorder, hypersensitivity to neuroleptics and autonomic dysfunctions. Despite more well-known criteria for DLB, there are often misdiagnosis and inappropriate treatment. It gives a lot of clinical burden to the clinician as well as to patients and families. When reducing the misdiagnosis, the burden of all will be reduced. The special concern and solicitation are needed in order not to miss the diagnosis when the cardinal features of DLB may not be volunteered by patients and the caregivers. To control the symptoms, clinicians must find and reduce drugs that can have the negative effects on DLB symptoms. There is limited evidence about specific interventions but available data suggest cholinesterase inhibitors improve the cognitive and behavioral symptoms and menmantine slightly improves the global impression.

Classification of Cognitive States from fMRI data using Fisher Discriminant Ratio and Regions of Interest

  • In recent decades, analyzing the activities of human brain achieved some accomplishments by using the functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI) technique. fMRI data provide a sequence of three-dimensional images related to human brain's activity which can be used to detect instantaneous cognitive states by applying machine learning methods. In this paper, we propose a new approach for distinguishing human's cognitive states such as "observing a picture" versus "reading a sentence" and "reading an affirmative sentence" versus "reading a negative sentence". Since fMRI data are high dimensional (about 100,000 features in each sample), extremely sparse and noisy, feature selection is a very important step for increasing classification accuracy and reducing processing time. We used the Fisher Discriminant Ratio to select the most powerful discriminative features from some Regions of Interest (ROIs). The experimental results showed that our approach achieved the best performance compared to other feature extraction methods with the average accuracy approximately 95.83% for the first study and 99.5% for the second study.

Distinct Developmental Features of Olfactory Bulb Interneurons

  • The olfactory bulb (OB) has an extremely higher proportion of interneurons innervating excitatory neurons than other brain regions, which is evolutionally conserved across species. Despite the abundance of OB interneurons, little is known about the diversification and physiological functions of OB interneurons compared to cortical interneurons. In this review, an overview of the general developmental process of interneurons from the angles of the spatial and temporal specifications was presented. Then, the distinct features shown exclusively in OB interneurons development and molecular machinery recently identified were discussed. Finally, we proposed an evolutionary meaning for the diversity of OB interneurons.
