  • The role of S/W in weapon systems has been developed with various functions and complex structures. As the weapon system S/W is directly related to quick and accurate decision making of users, more accurate evaluation is required during the training. However, situation awareness of weapon system S/W users has only been assessed qualitatively such as by simple test or qualitative judgement. Therefore, this study suggests the 'Cognition Ratio' concept which represents the quantitative of users by combining ACT-R cognitive architecture to SA (Situation Awareness) and Fitts' Law based on the theory of cognitive engineering. The cognition ratio is a ratio of cognition among the whole cognitive behavior process including perception and psychomotor. Moreover, this study provides a systematic assessment process of situation awareness that will be applicable to various weapon system S/W for effective assessment.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the psychometric properties of the Korean version of the General Practitioner Assessment of Cognition (K-GPCog) scale. Method: The K-GPCog consists of the 2 subscales, patients and caregivers. Using a sample of 412 community-based Korean older adults, internal consistency reliability was estimated using Cronbach's alpha. To evaluate validity of the K-GPCog, correlational analysis was conducted using Pearson r between K-GPCog and the Korean Dementia Screening Questionnaire (KDSQ). Results: Cronbach's alpha coefficients of the K-GPCog patients' and caregivers' subscales .788 and .794 respectively. Pearson's correlation coefficients were r=-.374, r=-.481, and r=-.493, respectively for the subscales of patients and primary caregivers, and total K-GPCog. The degree of diagnostic agreement about the risk for cognitive disorders of older adults showed 11.7% and 11.2% respectively for the K-GPCog and the KDSQ. Conclusion: The findings provided preliminary evidence of the K-GPCog as a useful screening measure for detecting mild cognitive disorders of Korean older adults. The K-GPCog is particularly useful to identify cognitive disorders from primary caregivers when it is difficult to assess the level of cognition of older adults.

  • The study seeks to conduct an oral stereognosis assessment of the elderly, identify characteristics and confirm the association with cognition, Instrumental Activities of Daily Living(IADL), Quality of Life(QOL). Oral stereognosis(OS) was evaluated on 20 senior citizens aged 75 or older living in Gyeonggi-do. Cognition was used as MoCA-K(Montreal Cognitive Assessment-Korean), IADL as K-IADL(Korean Instrumental Activities of Daily Living), and QOL as GQOL(Geriatric Quality of Life scale). OS decreases accuracy with age, unaffected by the level of education. Shapes with clear edges and broad sides were found to be easy to recognize. OS is related to cognition, IADL and QOL. Through this study, the OS of the elderly could predict the functional level and QOL, including cognition. Therefore, it can be used as a basic research for the physical and mental health management of the elderly through oral lectures, and the development of oral stereognosis tools for the elderly through large scale subjects should be made.

  • The zombies in AVG games are not divided into different game occupations. To address this issue, this paper starts by selecting those popular zombie games as the research object. Then, a number of samples will be collected from the roles of zombie and these different roles of zombie will be classified by profession depending on the characteristics of these roles. On this basis, the roles will be given a new title to describe their profession. Then, semantic analysis will be conducted to search for the words that can be used to describe the roles of zombie. Besides, there will be 10 experts in design and 10 professional zombie game players invited to choose from the collected adjectives. The most selected words will be used in this study to conduct cognition assessment, before the making of questionnaire. Then, the questionnaire data will be collected and converted into a statistical model form for indicating the value of ability by group and profession.

  • Objective This study evaluated the psychometric properties of the Korean Anxiety Screening Assessment (K-ANX) developed for screening anxiety disorders. Methods Data from 613 participants were analyzed. The K-ANX was evaluated for reliability using Cronbach's alpha, item-total correlation, and test information curve, and for validity using focus group interviews, factor analysis, correlational analysis, and item characteristics based on item response theory (IRT). The diagnostic sensitivity and specificity of the K-ANX were compared with those of the Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI) and Generalized Anxiety Disorder 7-item scale (GAD-7). Results The K-ANX showed excellent internal consistency (${\alpha}=0.97$) and item-total coefficients (0.92-0.97), and a one-factor structure was suggested. All items were highly correlated with the total scores of the BAI, GAD-7, and Penn State Worry Questionnaire. IRT analysis indicated the K-ANX was most informative as a screening tool for anxiety disorders at the range between 0.8 and 1.6 (i.e., top 21.2 to 5.5 percentiles). Higher sensitivity (0.795) and specificity (0.937) for identifying anxiety disorders were observed in the K-ANX compared to the BAI and GAD-7. Conclusion The K-ANX is a reliable and valid measure to screen anxiety disorders in a Korean sample, with greater sensitivity and specificity than current measures of anxiety symptoms.

  • PURPOSE: Social participation is essential for stroke survivors. Although participation restrictions are affected by several factors, a few studies have focused on the effects of living in a particular residential area (urban versus rural) on the participation restrictions after a stroke. This study examined the factors affecting participation restrictions in stroke survivors according to the residential area. METHODS: One hundred sixty-six stroke patients (including 130 living in urban areas and 36 living in rural areas) were recruited for this study. The Korean Modified Barthel Index (K-MBI) was used to assess the activities of daily living (ADL). The Korean Mini-Mental Examination Status (MMSE-K) was used to assess cognition. The motor function was evaluated using the Fugl-Meyer function assessment (FMA). Path analysis was used to test the hypothesized model of participation restriction. RESULTS: The proposed path model showed good fit indices. In rural and urban areas, the direct effects were significant between the ADL and participation restrictions (β = -.673 and -.457, respectively). For urban areas, the direct effects were significant between cognition and participation restrictions (β = -.252). In both area types, motor function and cognition had a significant direct effect on the ADL. CONCLUSION: For urban community-dwelling stroke survivors, the ADL and cognition had direct effects on participation restrictions. For rural area stroke survivors, the ADL had direct effects on participation restrictions. Activity level exercise programs help reduce the participation restrictions. Moreover, it is essential to address cognition training to improve participation in urban community-dwelling stroke survivors.

  • The purposes of this review are that 1) what is the the concept of motor control, 2) what is the content of motor control assessment, and 3) which instruments or scales are used in clinical setting. Motor control is defined broadly the control of both movement and posture. And motor control focuses on understanding the control of movement already acquired. The purposes of assessment are screening, placement to apprpriate treatment program, program plan, evaluation, and progress assessment for individuals. The content of motor control assessment is included not only fexibility, tone, reflex & reaction, muscle strength, movement pattern, balance, gait, and functional ability, but also cognition, arousal, sensation, and perception. There ars many kinds of instruments or scales for assessing motor ability. Most of materials are tested the validity and reliability. But Korea has not own instrument for assessing motor ability. Therefore, Korea needs to develop the assessing tools for motor ability.
