DCT 변환상에서 방향성 Zonal 필터를 이용한 화상 데이터 압축 (In DCT,Image Data Compression via Directional Zonal Filters)

  • In this paper we have proposed an efficient coding algorithm using directional filtering. First an image is transformed by using DCT which has better energy compaction and then the transformed image is divided into a low frequency component and several high frequency components. The transformed coefficients of each parts are transmitted respectively by using huffman code and these are transformed inversely at receiver. For the directional components total edge images are reconstructed at zero crossing points. We are able to reduce the amount of data by getting of complex component and making directional angles 90. As a results, this proposed method is better than that of Kunt in respect of processing time and memories. We have 38dB of image quality with objective measurement of PSNR and 0.26bpp of compression ratio which is acceptable.

신경망에 의한 테두리를 보존하는 영상압축 (Edge Preserving Image Compression with Weighted Centroid Neural Network)

  • 무지도 경쟁학습을 이용하여 압축된 영상의 복원 후에 나타나는 테두리부분의 손상을 최소화하기 위한 영상압축 방법이 제안되었다. 제안된 영상압축방법은 영상데이터에서 테두리부분에 해당하는 데이터의 기하학적인 특징을 이용하는데, 영상데이터의 통계학적인 특성을 함께 이용하여 기존의 Centroid Neural Network을 일반화시키는 무지도 경쟁학습에 의하여 자동적으로 더욱 많은 code vector를 테두리부분에 배정함으로서 압축된 영상의 복원 후에 나타나는 테두리부분의 손상을 초소화하게 한다. 실험 결과, 기존의 SOM, M-SOM, M/R-CNN등과 비교하여 제안된 방법에 의해 압축된 영상의 복원된 테두리 부분에서 PSNR이 약 2dbv정도 향상된 결과를 보여줄 수 있었다.

  • It is well known that axial tension decreases the shear strength of RC beams without transverse reinforcement, and axial compression increases the shear resistance. What is perhaps not very well understood is how much the shear capacity is influenced by axial load. RC beams without shear reinforcement subjected to large axial compression and shear may fail in a very brittle manner at the instance of first diagonal cracking. As a result, a conservative approach should be used for such members. According to the ACI Code, the concrete contribution is calculated by effect of axial force and the vertical force in the stirrups calculated by $45^{\circ}$ truss model. This study was performed to examine the effect of axial force in reinforced concrete beams.

A numerical study on the damage of projectile impact on concrete targets

  • This paper presents the numerical simulation of the rigid 12.6 mm diameter kinetic energy ogive-nosed projectile impact on plain and fiber reinforced concrete (FRC) targets with compressive strengths from 45 to 235 MPa, using a three-dimensional finite element code LS-DYNA. A combined dynamic constitutive model, describing the compressive and tensile damage of concrete, is implemented. A modified Johnson_Holmquist_Cook (MJHC) constitutive relationship and damage model are incorporated to simulate the concrete behavior under compression. A tensile damage model is added to the MJHC model to analyze the dynamic fracture behavior of concrete in tension, due to blast loading. As a consequence, the impact damage in targets made of plain and fiber reinforced concrete with same matrix material under same impact velocities (650 m/s) are obtained. Moreover, the damage distribution of concrete after penetration is procured to compare with the experimental results. Numerical simulations provide a reasonable prediction on concrete damage in both compression and tension.

Ultimate and fatigue response of shear dominated full-scale pretensioned concrete box girders

  • Two full-scale, precast, pretensioned box girders were subjected to shear-dominated loading, one under monotonic loads to failure and the other subjected to one-half million cycles of fatigue loads followed by monotonic ultimate loads. The number of cycles was selected to allow for comparison with previous research. The fatigue loads were applied in combination with occasional overloads. In the present study, fatigue loading reduced the shear capacity by only six percent compared to the capacity under monotonic loading. However, previous research on flexure-dominated girders subjected to the same number of repeated loads showed that fatigue loading changed the mode of failure from flexure to shear/flexure and the girder capacity dropped by 14 percent. The comparison of the measured data with calculated shear capacity from five different theoretical methods showed that the ACI code method, the compression field theory, and the modified compression field theory led to reasonable estimates of the shear strength. The truss model led to an overly conservative estimate of the capacity.

  • Two compression ramp problems and an impinging shock problem are computed to investigate influence of turbulence models and eddy viscosity on the shock-wave / boundary layer interaction. A Navier-Stokes boundary layer generation code was applied to the generation of inflow boundary conditions. Computational results are validated well with the experimental data and effects of turbulence models are investigated. It is shown that the behavior of turbulence (eddy) viscosity directly affects both the extent of the separation and shock-wave positions over the separation.

  • The flow field in a cylinder of a 4-valve pentroof engine is studied using the KIVA-3V code. Turbulence is generated from the jet flow through valves and broken down to the small scale eddies in the compression process. It is known that the tumble effectively keeps turbulence during the compression process. In the combustion process, turbulence is known to enhance flame speed by increasing mass, momentum and heat transfer rates. The effects of the intake port angles on the flow and combustion characteristics are studied in this study. To study the effect of turbulence on the combustion process, Cantore combustion model is applied in this study.

  • Numerical analysis on laminated plates containing an open hole subjected to compression is conducted to predict the damage constitutive behaviour of the plates. A micromechanical constitutive model for unidirectional laminated composites proposed by Liang et a1. (2006), in conjunction with damage models (Karihaloo and Fu, 1989, 1999; Zhao and Weng, 1996, 1997), is implemented into the finite element code ABAQUS to conduct the numerical analysis. The predictions are compared with experiments (Lessard and Chang, 1991) to verify the accuracy of the present analysis.

  • The purpose of this paper is to design a pick-up for the small form factor optical disk drive and to fabricate a micro-compensatory lens for the pick-up using the micro-compression molding process. At design stage, the optical elements including the objective lens and the compensatory lens are miniaturized. The height of pick-up and free working distance are designed as 2mm and 0.2% respectively. To analyze the fabricated micro-compensatory lens, the system was analyzed using the surface profile of the fabricated micro-compensatory lens and CODE V which is commercial software. The RMS wave front aberration of the system using fabricated micro-compensatory lens is 0.01677λ which is lower than Marechal's criterion, 0.07λ.

메쉬의 계층 및 연산코드 기반 3차원 메쉬 압축 (3D Mesh Compression Based on Layer of Mesh and Operation Code)

  • 날로 커져가는 3D 모델을 효율적으로 사용하기 위한 노력으로 압축처리 방법들이 연구되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 3D 모델의 메쉬를 Layer로 분할하여 Vertex Layer와 Triangle Layer를 생성 후, 삼각형들을 몇가지 연산코드로 분류하여 압축(compression)하는 방법을 제안한다. Triangle Layer는 기본 정점으로부터 연결된 선분의 정점들로 이루어진 Vertex Layer의 쌍을 이용하여 만들어진다. 이 Triangle Layer에 해당 되는 삼각형들의 연결 정보를 제안한 연산코드로 분류하고, 이것을 엔트로피 코딩하여 3D 모델을 압축한다. 이 기법은 삼각형의 형태를 기준으로 한 개나 두 개의 삼각형을 하나의 연산코드로 분류하거나 삼각형의 연결 상황에 따라 하나의 연산코드로 분류하여 연결정보를 표현한다. 복원(decompression)시에는 연산 코드를 이용하여 삼각형의 연결정보를 뽑아내면 원 상태의 3D 모델을 획득할 수 있다. 이 방법은 연결 정보를 무손실 압축하는 방법으로, 지금까지 제안된 압축기법과 비교할 때, 간단하면서도 월등한 압축 효과를 볼 수 있다.
