This paper suggests two ratio-cum-product estimators of finite population mean using known coefficient of variation and co-efficient of kurtosis of auxiliary characters. The bias and mean squared error of the proposed estimators with large sample approximation are derived. It has been shown that the estimators suggested by Upadhyaya and Singh (1999) are particular case of the suggested estimators. Almost ratio-cum product estimators of suggested estimators have also been obtained using Jackknife technique given by Quenouille (1956). An empirical study is also carried out to demonstrate the performance of the suggested estimators.
An issue of globalized and competitive business environment is a transformation of manufacturing strategy for rapidly product development. To copy with these trends, building up a market from various product is becoming conspicuous the core strategy of manufacture. Therefore, it is increasing of necessity for the environment of collaborative product development. As a part of corresponding for these demands, we propose the method that allows easy and rapid integration of legacy resources within the company and between departments. The proposed framework can easily construct a distributed environment for collaborative design between departments in the companies. It was implemented using CO/sup TM/ based on DOME (Distributed Object-based Modeling Environment) that is knowledge based engineering solution.
We have investigated the effect of MeOH extract of cultured ginseng roots on hyperlipidemic rats induced by fat-rich diet. We also analyzed and compared ginsenosides of cultured ginsengs by HPLC. After oral administration of the extract to hyperlipidemic rats for four weeks, the variables including body weight, cholesterol, HDL, LDL, and triglyceride levels in serum were measured. One of the cultured ginseng roots (CBN3) decreased cholesterol and LDL -cholesterol and increased HDL-cholesterol levels in serum.. (omitted)
Restructuring had made it possible to utilize lower value cuts and meat trimmings from spent animals by providing convenience in product preparation besides enhancing tenderness, palatability and value. Milk co-precipitates (MCP) have been reported to improve the nutritional and functional properties of certain meat products. This study was undertaken to evaluate the influence of incorporation of milk co-precipitates at four different levels viz. 0, 10, 15 and 20% on the quality of restructured buffalo meat blocks. Low-calcium milk co-precipitates were prepared from skim milk by heat and salt coagulation of milk proteins. Meat chunks were mixed with the curing ingredients and chilled water in a Hobart mixer for 5 minutes, followed by addition of milk co-precipitates along with condiments and spice mix and again mixed for 5 minutes. Treated chunks were stuffed in aluminium moulds and cooked in steam without pressure for 1.5 h. After cooking, treated meat blocks were compared for different physico-chemical and sensory attributes. Meat blocks incorporated with 10% MCP were significantly better (p<0.05) than those incorporated with 0, 15 and 20% MCP in cooking yield, percent shrinkage and moisture retention. Sensory scores were also marginally higher for meat blocks incorporated with 10% MCP than product incorporated with 15 and 20% MCP, besides being significantly higher than control. On the basis of above results 10% MCP was considered optimum for the preparation of restructured buffalo meat blocks. Instrumental texture profile analysis revealed that meat blocks incorporated with 10% MCP were significantly better (p<0.05) in hardness/ firmness than control although, no significant (p>0.05) differences were observed in cohesiveness, springiness, gumminess and chewiness of both type of samples.

Generally, a PLM education program in university consists of lectures of theory, software lab and software development raining as an advanced subject. Most industries want more than these, such as practical problem solving capabilities, teamwork skills and engineering communications including human relationship, rhetoric, technical writing, presentation and etc. Problem-Based Learning is a problem-stimulated and student-centered teaming method, and an innovative education strategy for collaborative and self-directed learning by applying real world problems. Education paradigm changes from "teaching" to "learning" accomplished by team working, and students are encouraged to develop, present, explain and defense their ideas, suggestions or solutions of a problem, and the "cooperative teaming" proceeds spontaneously during team operations. Co-operative education program is an into-grated academic model and a structured educational program combining classroom learning with productive work experience in a field related to a student's academic or career goals. Based on the partnership between academic institutions and industries, students are engaged in real and productive "work" in the industry, in contrast with merely observing. In this paper, PBL with Co-op program is suggested as an effective approach for PLM education, and we made and operated a PBL-based education course with industry co-op program. The Co-op education in industry accompanied with the PBL course in university can improve practical problem solving capabilities of students, including modeling and management of P3R(Product, Process, resource and Plant) using commercial PLM software tools. By the result, we found this to be an effective strategy for helping students, professors and industries succeed in engineering education, especially PLM area.
The bioequivalence of two nicotine patches was evaluated in 16 normal male volunteers (age 21 ~ 27 yrs) following single transdermal application. Test product was "Nicostop patch" made by Sam Yang Co. and reference product was "Nicotinell TTS patch" made by Korean Searle Ciba-Geigy Co. After nicotine patches were applied onto the inside of the forearm, blood was taken at predetermined time intervals and the nicotine concentration in plasma was determined with a sensitive GC method using NPD detector. AUC and Cm\ulcorner were calculated and statistically analyzed for the bioequivalence of the two products. The results showed that the differences in AUC and $C_{msx}$between two products were 5.47% and 2.70%, respectively. The powers (1-$\beta$) for AUC and $C_{max}$. were >90% and 88.76%, respectively. Detectable differences($\Delta$) and confidence intervals were all less than 20%. All of these parameters met the criteria of KFDA for bioequivalence, indicating that "Nicostop patch" is bioequivalent to "Nicotinell TTS patch" . . .

Lanthanum oxyfluoride can be synthesized by mechanochemical (MC) reaction between lanthanum oxide ($La_2O_3$) and polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE, ($({CF_2CF_2}_n)$) in air using a planetary mill. MC reaction between the two materials induced from intensive grinding operation. The MC reaction is almost finished by 240min, and the products ground for 240min or more are composed of LaOF, amorphous $La(CO_3)F$ and amorphous carbon (C). Heating this MC reaction products at $600^{\circ}C$ enables us to eliminate amorphous C and decompose $La(CO_3)F$ into LaOF, so that pure LaOF material can be obtained as the final product. The average particle size of the final product (purified LaOF) is around few ten nanometers.

Polyvinyl acetate (PVAc) prepared by emulsion polymerization has broad applications for additive such as paint binder, adhesive for wood and paper due to its low glass transition temperature which help to plasticize substrate resins. Since emulsion polymerization has a disadvantage that surfactant and ionic initiator degrade properties of the product polymer, poly (vinyl acetate-eo-ethyl acrylate) (VAc-EA) was synthesized using potassium persulfate as catalyst and polyvinylalcohol (PVA) as protective colloid to prevent the degradation. The copolymer latex product was internally plasticized and has enhanced adhesion, water resistance during VAc-EA emulsion polymerization. No coagulation and complete conversion occur with the reactant mixture of 10 mmol/L potassium persulfate, 10 mmol/L poly ( vinyl alcohol) (PVA 17). As the concentrations of PVA increase, the viscosity becomes increase.

Many manufacturing companies manage their production-related data for quality management and production management. Nevertheless, production related-data should be closely related to each other Stored data is mainly used to monitor their process and products' error. In this paper, we provide an enterprise-wide production data model for decision support system and product automation. Process data, quality-related data, and test data are integrated to identify the process inter or intra dependency, the yield forecasting, and the trend of process status. In addition, it helps the manufacturing decision support system to decide critical manufacturing problems.

Advanced drinking water production systems, which not only good quality product water, but also provide easy management and mainenance of facilities, and operate on a smaller site area, have been expected to be developed for some time. We are going ahead with a program to deveop an advanced drinking water production system, using immersed membrane filtration combined with biological activated carbon, to meet the need described above. The demonstration plant tests been conducted with surface water from the Yodo-river since Dec. 1998 to measure treatment performance, reliability, and controllability of the system. The quality of product water has consistently remained at a very high level for about 2 years under controlled conditions. Results showed that the re-circulation granular biological activated carbon could suppress the increase of membrane pressure difference and promote a reduction of dissolved organic matter. (This work has been conducted along the ACT21 Programs.)
