Synthesis and Properties of Ba(Ti,Sn)O3 Films by E-Beam Evaporation (전자빔증발법에 의한 Ba(Ti,Sn)O3막의 제조 및 특성)

  • $Ba(Ti,Sn)O_3$ thin films, for use as dielectrics for MLCCs, were grown from Sn doped BaTiO3 sources by e-beam evaporation. The crystalline phase, microstructure, dielectric and electrical properties of films were investigated as a function of the (Ti+Sn)/Ba ratio. When $BaTiO_3$ sources doped with $20{\sim}50\;mol%$ of Sn were evaporated, $BaSnO_3$films were grown due to the higher vapor pressure of Ba and Sn than of Ti. However, it was possible to grow the $Ba(Ti,Sn)O_3$ thin films with {\leq}\;15\;mol%$ of Sn by co-evaporation of BTS and Ti metal sources. The (Ti+Sn)/Ba and Sn/Ti ratio affected the microstructure and surface roughness of films and the dielectric constant increased with increasing Sn content. The dielectric constant and dissipation factor of $Ba(Ti,Sn)O_3$ thin films with {\leq}\;15\;mol%$ of Sn showed the range of 120 to 160 and $2.5{\sim}5.5%$ at 1 KHz, respectively. The leakage current density of films was order of the $10^{-9}{\sim}10^{-8}A/cm^2$ at 300 KV/cm. The research results showed that it was feasible to grow the $Ba(Ti,Sn)O_3$ thin films as dielectrics for MLCCs by an e-beam evaporation technique.

Two-Phase Flow Patterns of $CO_{2}$ in a Heated Narrow Rectangular Channel (미세사각채널에서 $CO_{2}$의 이상유동 양식에 관한 연구)

  • The heat transfer and pressure drop characteristics of $CO_{2}$ are substantially different from those for CFC and HCFC refrigerants. In addition, geometric effects on two-phase flow patterns of $CO_{2}$ are also very significant in many respects. Therefore, two-phase flow patterns of $CO_{2}$ in a narrow rectangular channel or a small diameter tube whose gap size or hydraulic diameter is less than 2 mm are very important to understand heat transfer characteristics and to develop an appropriate heat transfer correlation. In the present study, the evaporation process of $CO_{2}$ in a narrow rectangular channel is visualized at various test conditions, and then the effects of operating conditions are analyzed.

Preparation and Characterization of Cobalt Silicide Films for Printing Heater (프린팅 히터용 코발트실리사이드 박막의 형성과 특성연구)

  • Cobalt silcides thin films were prepared on Poly-Si/$SiO_2$/Si substrates by Co metal depostion using E-beam evaporation method and rapid thermal annealing for the application of inkjet printing heater. The crystal phases and composition distributions of the films were investigated as functions of the rapid thermal annealing (RTA) temperatures (600~$900^{\circ}C$) and times (20~40 sec). The high temparature thermal stability was also investigated by the analysis of sheet resistance and crystalline properties. The stable $CoSi_2$ phases were obtained by the RTA annealing at $800^{\circ}C$ for 20 seconds showing $0.8 \Omega /\Box$ of sheet resitance. However, the sheet resistances were sharply increased at below $700^{\circ}C$ due to changes of crystalline phases. The temperature resistance coefficient of heating elements was found to be about $0.0014/^{\circ}C$, and the obtained cobalt silicided films can be applied to the printer heating elements.

  • Doosan Mecatec has developed alignment system for Organic Light-Emitting Diode (OLED) display production using large size substrate. In the present article, The alignment system between the substrate and the mask, which is a core technology for producing the OLED product using the fourth-generation substrate with $730{\times}920mm^2$ or more, will be described by dividing into a substrate loader, a magnet unit, a CCD camera, etc. The substrate loader is optimized through the simulation where the central portion of the substrate droops by about 1.5mm by clamping each of a long side (920mm direction) and a short side (730mm direction) thereof by 6 point and 4 point. A magnet unit using a sheet type of rubber magnet is constituted and a CCD camera model with the specifications capable of minimizing the errors between a clear image and the same image is selected. The system to which an upward evaporation technique of small molecular organic materials will be applied has been developed so that repeatability and position accuracy becomes ${\pm}1{\mu}m$ or less using an UVW type of stage. Also, the vision accuracy of the CCD camera becomes ${\pm}1{\mu}m$ or less and the align process TACT becomes 30sec. or less so that the final alignment accuracy between the substrate and the mask becomes ${\pm}3{\mu}m$ or less. In order to meet an extra-large glass substrate, an evaporation system using an extra-large AMOLED substrate has been developing through a vertical type of an alignment system.

The Crystallization of Polycarbonate Film Using Methylene Chloride/1,3-Dioxolane as a Solution Casting Co-Solvent (Methylene Chloride/1,3-Dioxolane 혼합 용매에 의한 용액 가공 폴리카보네이트 필름의 결정화)

  • The effect of methylene chloride/1,3-dioxolane co-solvent on the crystallization in the optical polycarbonate film was investigated. Increasing 1,3-dioxolane content in co-solvent resulted in the crystallization due to the lowering of solvent evaporation rate during film drying process. The crystallization in PC film could be minimized by either controlling of solvent composition and increasing solvent drying temperature. It was found that the surface roughness of solution casting PC film was affected by both crystallization and solvent evaporation rate. This morphological effect by alternative solvent is ascribed to a large decrease in light transmissivity on the optical PC film.

A Study on the Magnetic Properties of Ion Irradiated Cu/Co Multilayer System

  • In this research, we used the ion irradiation technique which has an advantae in improving intentionally the properties of surface and interface in a non-equilibrium, instead of the conventional annealing method which has been known to improve the material properties in the equilibrium stat. Cu/Co multilayered films were prepared on SiN4/SiO2/Si substrates by the electron-beam evaporation for the Co layers and the thermal evaporation for the Cu layers in a high vacuum. The ion irradiation with a 80keV Ar+ was carried out at various ion doses in a high vacuum. Hysteresis loops of the films were investigated by magneto-optical polar Kerr spectroscopy at various experimental conditions. The change of atomic structure of the films before and after the ion irradiation was studied by glancing angle x-ray diffraction, and the intermixing between Co and Cu sublayers was confirmed by Rutherford backscattering spectroscopy. The surface roughness and magneto-resistance were measured by atomic force microscopy and with a four-point probe system, respectively. During the magneto-resistance measurement, we changed temperature and the direction of magnetization. From the results of experiments, we found that the change at the interfaces of the Cu/Co multilayered film induced by ion irradiation cause the change of magnetic properties. According to the change in hysteresis loop, the surface inplane component of magnetic easy axis was isotropic before the ion irradiation, but became anisotropic upon irradiation. It was confirmed that this change influences the axial behavior of magneto-resistance. Especially, the magneto-resistance varied in accordance with an external magnetic field and the direction of current, which means that magneto-resistance also shows the uniaxial behavior.

  • TiO$_2$ 박막은 높은 굴절률과 유전 상수를 가지며, 가시광선과 근적외선 영역에서 우수한 투과성을 나타낸다. 따라서, 전기적, 광학적 특성이 우수한 광학코팅에 응용되고 있다. 또한 화학적으로 안정하고 비교적 큰 에너지 밴드 갭을 지닌 반도체 물질로서 유전체 다층 박막을 제작하는데 있어서 중요한 물질로 사용되고 있다. TiO$_2$ 박막을 제작하기 위한 물리적인 방법으로는 sputtering, anodic 또는 thermal, e-beam evaporation 등이 이용되고 있으며, sol-gel법, CVD 등과 같은 화학적인 방법도 이용되고 있다. (중략)
