We investigated the effects of Co doping on the NO gas sensing characteristics of ZnO-carbon nanotube (ZnO-CNT) layered composites fabricated by coaxial coating of single-walled CNTs with ZnO using pulsed laser deposition. Structural examinations clearly confirmed a distinct nanostructure of the CNTs coated with ZnO nanoparticles of an average diameter as small as 10 nm and showed little influence of doping 1 at.% Co into ZnO on the morphology of the ZnO-CNT composites. It was found from the gas sensing measurements that 1 at.% Co doping into ZnO gave rise to a significant improvement in the response of the ZnO-CNT composite sensor to NO gas exposure. In particular, the Co-doped ZnO-CNT composite sensor shows a highly sensitive and fast response to NO gas at relatively low temperatures and even at low NO concentrations. The observed significant improvement of the NO gas sensing properties is attributed to an increase in the specific surface area and the role as a catalyst of the doped Co elements. These results suggest that Co-doped ZnOCNT composites are suitable for use as practical high-performance NO gas sensors.

To study emission properties of white phosphorescent organic light emitting devices (PHOLEDs), we fabricated white PHOLEDs of ITO(150 nm) / NPB(30 nm) / TcTa(10 nm) / mCP(7.5 nm) / light-emitting layer(25 nm) / UGH3(5 nm) / Bphen(50 nm) / LiF(0.5 nm) / Al(200 nm) structure. The total thickness of light-emitting layer with co-doping and blue-doping/co-doping using a host-dopant system was 25 nm and the dopant of blue and red was FIrpic and $Bt_2Ir$(acac) in UGH3 as host, respectively. The OLED characteristics were changed with position and thickness of blue doping layer and co-doping layer as light-emitting layer and the best performance seemed in structure of blue-doping(5 nm)/co-doping(20 nm) layer. The white PHOLEDs showed the maximum current density of $34.5mA/cm^2$, maximum brightness of $5,731cd/m^2$, maximum current efficiency of 34.8 cd/A, maximum power efficiency of 21.6 lm/W, maximum quantum efficiency of 15.6%, and a Commission International de L'Eclairage (CIE) coordinate of (0.367, 0.436) at $1,000cd/m^2$.

Lifetime study of blue phosphorescent and thermally activated delayed fluorescent organic light-emitting diodes was carried out to understand the dominant degradation process during electrical operation of the devices. Doping concentration dependence of the phosphorescent and thermally activated delayed fluorescent organic light-emitting diodes was studied, which demonstrated long lifetime at low doping concentration in the phosphorescent devices and at high doping concentration in the thermally activated delayed fluorescent devices. Detailed mechanism study of the two devices described that triplet-triplet annihilation is the main degradation process of phosphorescent organic light-emitting diodes, whereas triplet-polaron annihilation is the key degradation factor of the thermally activated delayed fluorescent devices.
Blue phosphor calcium aluminate, $CaAl_2O_4:Eu^{2+}$ co-doped with $Nd^{3+}$ was prepared by solid state synthesis method. Phosphor materials with 1 mol% $Eu^{2+}$ and varying compositions of $Nd^{3+}$ show high brightness and long persistent luminescence. The synthesized phosphor materials were investigated by powder x-ray diffraction (XRD), SEM, TEM, photoluminescence excitation and emission studies. Broad band UV excited luminescence of the $CaAl_2O_4:Eu^{2+}:Nd^{3+}$ was observed in the blue region (${\lambda}_{max}=440\;nm$) due to transitions from the $4f^65d^1$ to the $4f^7$ configuration of the $Eu^{2+}$ ion. $Nd^{3+}$ ion doping in the phosphor results in long afterglow phosphorescence when the excitation light is cut off.

Te-doped $CoSb_3$ was prepared by the encapsulated induction melting, and its doping effects on the thermoelectric properties were investigated. Single phase ${\delta}-CoSb_3$ was successfully obtained by the subsequent annealing at 773 K for 24 hrs. Tellurium atoms acted as electron donors by substituting antimony atoms. Thermoelectric properties were remarkably improved by the appropriate doping. Dimensionless figure of merit was obtained to be 0.83 at 700K for the $CoSb_{2.8}Te_{0.2}$ specimen.
A visible light responsive N, Mo co-doped $TiO_2$ were prepared by sol-gel method. X-ray diffraction, TEM, $N_2$ adsorption, UV-vis spectroscopy, photoluminescence, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy were used to characterize the prepared $TiO_2$ samples. Doping restrained the phase transformation from anatase to rutile and reduced the particle sizes. The band gap was much narrowed after N, Mo co-doping. The photocatalytic activities were tested in the degradation of an aqueous solution of a reactive dyestuff, methylene blue, under visible light. The photocatalytic activities of doped $TiO_2$ were much higher than that of neat $TiO_2$. The photocatalytic stability of N, Mo co-doped $TiO_2$ was much better than that of N doped $TiO_2$.
Up-conversion of rare-earth element added glass is promising area for short wavelength laser source by utilizing high power semiconductor infra-red laser if the efficiency can be increased by proper method. In this study, relatively low phonon energy fluoride glasses were prepared by co-doping rare-earth elements to realize the high efficiency up-convertor. The physical, chemical, andoptical properties of co-doped fluoride glasses were measured. 10 combinations of 5 different rare-earth fluoride elements doped samples were prepared and their transition temperatures, chemical durability, density, hardness, refractive index, absorption, fluorescence, and fluorescence lifetime were measured. 480nm wavelengths blue up-conversion was found in the Yb3+/Tm3+ co-doped glass sample with 800nm laser source and the optimum composition for the most efficient blue up-conversion was found from the glass sample with 0.3 mol% TmF3 and 1 mol% YbF3.
Mg-doped and In-Mg co-doped p-type GaN epilayers were grown in a low-pressure metal organic chemical vapor deposition technique. The effect of In doping on the p-GaN layer was studied through photoluminescence (PL), persistent photoconductivity (PPC), and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) at room temperature. For the In-doped p-GaN layer, the PL intensity increases significantly and the peak position shifts to 3.2 eV from 2.95 eV of conventional p-GaN. Additionally, In doping greatly reduces the PPC, which was very strong in conventional p-GaN. A reduction in the dislocation density is also evidenced upon In doping in p-GaN according to TEM images. The improved optical properties of the In-doped p-GaN layer are attributed to the high crystalline quality and to the active participation of incorporated Mg atoms.
The effects of co-doping with complex dopants of softeners, $La^{+3}$ and/or $Nb^{+5}$, and a hardener, $Fe^{+3}$, on the microstructural and piezoelectric properties of PZT ceramics with a composition of a rhombohedral-tetragonal morphotropic phase boundary, $PbZr_{0.53}Ti_{0.47}O_3$, were investigated. Unlike single-element doping, the complex doping of both the softener and hardener ions led to various compensation effects for the piezoelectric properties of the PZT ceramics. For 0.5 wt.% $La_2O_3$ softener and/or 0.5 wt.% $Nb_2O_5$ doped compositions, there were apparent hardener doping (compensation) effects for an addition of over 1.0 wt.% $Fe_2O_3$. For the $La_2O_3$ and/or $Nb_2O_5$ doped composition, the co-dopant $Fe_2O_3$ addition led to lower kp and $\varepsilon$r, and increased $Q_m$ values. The prepared PZT ceramics modified with complex soft dopants, $La^{+3}$ and $Nb^+$, as well as a hard dopant, $Fe^{+3}$, showed that the piezoelectric properties were stable with the compositional variations, which made it possible to establish piezoelectric performances with higher reliability and reproducibility. The most improved piezoelectric properties of enhanced $Q_m$ with $\varepsilon_r$ remaining higher $k_p$, were obtained in the PZT composition complexly doped with $La^{+3}$ and $Fe^{+3}$. From the results obtained in this study, the properties of compositionally modified PZT ceramics can also be tailored over a wider range by changing the dopant compositions to meet the specific requirements for underwater or other applications.
