Background: This study investigated the association between obesity and cardiometabolic disease clusters in Korean adults aged 19-39 years. Methods: We included 3,785 participants (1,767 men and 2,018 women) aged 19-39 years who participated in the Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (2020-2022). The risk factors for cardiometabolic disease were defined as follows: high blood pressure; hypertriglyceridemia; hyperuricemia; and high low-density lipoprotein cholesterol, low high-density lipoprotein cholesterol, high fasting plasma glucose, elevated alanine aminotransferase levels. Results: The prevalence of participants with ≥ 1, ≥ 2, and ≥ 3 cardiometabolic disease risk factors was 95.2%, 84.2%, and 65.6% in men and 90.0%, 70.5%, and 43.0%, in women with class 2-3 obesity, respectively. Compared to those for young adults with underweight/normal weight, the odds ratios (ORs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) for the clustering of cardiometabolic risk factors were 17.26 (8.32-35.80) for ≥ 1; 19.43 (12.18-31.00) for ≥ 2; and 22.93 (14.15-37.15) for ≥ 3 factors in men with class 2-3 obesity and 14.67 (8.00-26.91) for ≥ 1; 20.88 (12.15-35.88) for ≥ 2; and 36.26 (20.20-65.09) for ≥ 3 factors in women with class 2-3 obesity. Conclusion: Although the patients were young, the prevalence and ORs for cardiometabolic disease risk factor clusters in young adults with obesity were prominently high. Prevention and management of obesity in young Korean adults are urgently needed at both individual and public levels.
We have studied electronic structures and magnetic properties of one dimensional Ge chain nanoclusters using OpenMX method based on densty functional method. The calculation results show the strong antiferromagnetic interaction between Cr and Ge atoms. The magnetic interaction between Ge and Ge atoms are almost antiferromagnetic behaviors. The magnetic exchange interaction are occurred over the sevaral Ge atom layers. The magnitude of this interaction depends number of Ge atom.

In this work, recent progress on graphene/metal oxide composites as advanced materials for $HgCl_2$ and $CO_2$ capture was investigated. Density Functional Theory calculations were used to understand the effects of temperature on the adsorption ability of $HgCl_2$ and water vapor on $CO_2$ adsorption on CaO (001) with reinforced carbon-based nanostructures using B3LYP functional. Understanding the mechanism by which mercury and $CO_2$ adsorb on graphene/CaO (g-CaO) is crucial to the design and fabrication of effective capture technologies. The results obtained from the optimized geometries and frequencies of the proposed cluster site structures predicted that with respect to molecular binding the system possesses unusually large $HgCl_2$ ($0.1-0.4HgCl_2g/g$ sorbent) and $CO_2$ ($0.2-0.6CO_2g/g$ sorbent) uptake capacities. The $HgCl_2$ and $CO_2$ were found to be stable on the surface as a result of the topology and a strong interaction with the g-CaO system; these results strongly suggest the potential of CaO-doped carbon materials for $HgCl_2$ and $CO_2$ capture applications, the functional gives reliable answers compared to available experimental data.
Dynamical expansion of H II regions plays a key role in dispersing surrounding gas and therefore in limiting the efficiency of star formation in molecular clouds. We use analytic methods and numerical simulations to explore expansions of spherical dusty H II regions, taking into account the effects of direct radiation pressure, gas pressure, and total gravity of the gas and stars. Simulations show that the structure of the ionized zone closely follows Draine (2011)'s static equilibrium model in which radiation pressure acting on gas and dust grains balances the gas pressure gradient. Strong radiation pressure creates a central cavity and a compressed shell at the ionized boundary. We analytically solve for the temporal evolution of a thin shell, finding a good agreement with the numerical experiments. We estimate the minimum star formation efficiency required for a cloud of given mass and size to be destroyed by an HII region expansion. We find that typical giant molecular clouds in the Milky Way can be destroyed by the gas-pressure driven expansion of an H II region, requiring an efficiency of less than a few percent. On the other hand, more dense cluster-forming clouds in starburst environments can be destroyed by the radiation pressure driven expansion, with an efficiency of more than ~30 percent that increases with the mean surface density, independent of the total (gas+stars) mass. The time scale of the expansion is always smaller than the dynamical time scale of the cloud, suggesting that H II regions are likely to be a dominant feedback process in protoclusters before supernova explosions occurs.

Galaxy clusters have provided important information to understand the evolution of the universe, since the number density and mass of clusters are tightly related to the cosmological parameters. In addition, galaxy clusters are an excellent laboratory to investigate the galaxy evolution in dense environments. However, finding galaxy clusters at high redshift ($z{\geq}1$) still remains as a main subject in astronomy due to their rareness and difficulty in identifying such objects from optical imaging data alone. Here, we report a spectroscopic follow-up observation of distant galaxy cluster candidates identified by a deep optical-NIR dataset of Infrared Medium-deep Survey. Through the galaxy spectra taken with the IMACS instrument on the Magellan telescope, we confirm at least 3 massive clusters at z~0.92. Interestingly, the maximum spatial separation between these clusters is ~8Mpc, which implies that this system is a new supercluster in the distant universe. We also discuss properties of galaxies in these clusters based on multi-wavelength photometric data.

Transparent BNO thin films were grown on Al-doped ZnO (AZO)/Ag/AZO/polyethersulfon (PES) (abbreviated as AAAP) transparent electrodes at a low temperature by the NCD technique. The BNO films grown on the crystallized AZO/Ag/AZO (AAA) electrodes exhibit an amorphous phase with a root mean square (rms) roughness of approximately 2 nm in the range of deposition temperature. The capacitors (Pt/BNO/AAAP) with BNO films grown at $100^{\circ}C$ show a dielectric constant of 24 and dissipation factor of 8% at 100 kHz, a leakage current density of about $8{\times}10^{-6}A/cm^2$ at an applied voltage of 1.0V. The optical transmittances of the BNO/AAAP exhibited above 80% at wavelength of 550nm at all of deposition temperature. The mechanical stability of the BNO/AAA as well as AAA electrode with the PES substrates through the bending was ensured for flexible electronic device applications. The transparent BNO capacitors grown on AAAP are powerful candidate for integration with the transparent solar cells.
Crown ether is one of well-known host molecules and able to selectively sequester metal cation. We employed M06-2X density functional theory with IEFPCM and SMD continuum solvation models to study selectivity of dibenzo-18-crown-6-ether (DB18C6) for alkaline earth dications, $Ba^{2+}$, $Sr^{2+}$, $Ca^{2+}$, and $Mg^{2+}$ in the gas phase and in aqueous solution. $Mg^{2+}$ showed predominantly strong binding affinity in the gas phase because of strong polarization of CO bonds by cation. In aqueous solution, binding free energy differences became smaller among these dications. However, $Mg^{2+}$ had the best binding, being incompatible with experimental observations in aqueous solution. The enthalpies of the dication exchange reaction between DB18C6 and water cluster molecules were computed as another estimation of selectivity in aqueous solution. These results also demonstrated that $Mg^{2+}$ bound to DB18C6 better than $Ba^{2+}$. We speculated that the species determining selectivity in water could be 2:1 complexes of two DB18C6s and one dication.
Changes in fishing ground of the large pair trawler were investigated by year, month and species off Korean waters. We used catch data by sea-block lat.${\times}$long.:$30^{\prime}{\times}30$) of the National Fisheries Research and Development Institute (NFRDI) and monthly fishing production statistics of Korean statistic information service from 1990 to 2007. In the 1990s, the demersal fish like Larimichthys polyactis, Collichthys sp, Portunus trituberculatus and Muraenesox cinereus were the dominant species, and in the 2000s, they were changed from demersal fish into pelagic fish like Scomberomorus niphonius, Scomber japonicus, Engraulis japonicus and Todarodes pacificus. Species composition of catch showed temporal variation by cluster analysis deviding into 4 period, 1990-1994, 1995-2000, 2001-2003 and 2004-2007. Fishing ground in the 2000s was decreased up to 2/3 in the 1990s, while the density of catch in the fishing ground in 2000s was higher than the 1990s.
We investigate the evolution of galaxies in mid-infrared (MIR) $[3.4{\mu}m]-[12{\mu}m]$ color versus $12{\mu}$ luminosity diagram using Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer data for member galaxies of the A2199 supercluster at $z{\simeq}0.03$. In the MIR color-luminosity diagram, we classify galaxies into three MIR classes: MIR blue cloud (massive, quiescent and mostly early-type), MIR star-forming sequence (mostly late-type), and MIR green valley galaxies. Both MIR green valley galaxies and MIR blue cloud galaxies are optically red sequence populations, and there is no significant difference in star formation rates and stellar masses between them. We compare cumulative distribution functions of surface galaxy number density and of cluster/group-centric distance between three MIR classes. However, when considering only early-type galaxies, the difference between MIR blue cloud galaxies and MIR green valley galaxies disappears. In contrast, the intermediate trend of MIR green valley galaxies is still found for late-type galaxies. We discuss our results concerning the difference of evolution between early- and late-type galaxies and the connection to environment.

To measure the mass distribution of galaxy systems weak-lensing analysis has been widely used because it directly measures the total mass of a system regardless of its baryon content and dynamical state. However, the weak-lensing only provides a map of projected surface mass density. On the other hand, galaxy redshift surveys provide a map of the three-dimensional galaxy distribution. It thus can resolve the structures along the line of sight projected in the weak-lensing map. Therefore, the comparison of structures identified in the weak-lensing maps and in the redshift surveys is an important test of the issues limiting applications of weak-lensing to the identification of galaxy clusters. Geller et al. (2010) and Kurtz et al. (2012) compared massive clusters identified in a dense redshift survey with significant weak-lensing map convergence peaks. Both assessments of the efficiency of weak-lensing map for cluster identification did not draw a general conclusion, because the sample is so small. Thus, we additionally perform deep imaging observations of fields in a dense galaxy redshift survey that contain galaxy clusters at z~0.2-0.5, using CFHT Megacam.
