  • The main issue of this study is to find ways to lengthen the lifetime of network mainly by reducing energy consumption. This paper proposes how to reduce the amount of data transmitted in each sensor and cluster head in order to lengthen the lifetime of sensor network. The most important factor of reducing the sensor's energy dissipation is to reduce the amount of messages transmitted. This study proposes cluster cohesion for the purposes. The method is to use the cluster cohesion and manage the number of clusters adaptively and reduce the amount of message transmitted in network topology. This method should be much more efficient and effective as it reduces the network traffic significantly and increases the network's lifetime.

  • This paper analyzes the social cohesion effects of creative industrial as a core role player of emerging new economic paradigm of the creative economy using the case of Seoul Metropolitan Area(SMA) that is a typical cluster of creative industries in Korea. This study reclassified the creative industries in a Korean context into 13 industries in 6 sectors. Based on this reclassification, the study found out that the spatial pattern of creative industries in SMA is spatially much differentiated in terms of specialization, which demands more differentiated cluster strategy with different policy mix. This paper also investigates the social cohesion effects of creative industries using structural equation modelling. It turns out that the growth of creative industries is likely to contribute to the regional development capacity and also to provide positive effects on various aspects of the social cohesion.

  • Micron-sized Co-alloy T800 powder was coated on Inconel718 (IN718) using high velocity oxygen fuel (HVOF) thermal spraying by the optimal coating process (OCP) determined from the best surface hardness of 16 coatings prepared by Taguchi program. The surface hardness improved 140-160 % from 399 Hv of IN718 to 560-630 Hv by the coating. Porosity of the coating was 1.0-2.7 %, strongly depending on spray parameters. Both friction coefficients (FC) and wear traces (WT) of the coating were smaller than those of IN718 substrate at both $25^{\circ}C$ and $538^{\circ}C$. FC and WT of IN718 and coating decreased with increasing the surface temperature. Tensile bond strength (TBS) and fracture location (FL) of Ti64/T800 were 8,770 psi and near middle of T800 coating respectively. TBS and FL of Ti64/NiCr/T800 were 8,740 psi and near middle of T800 coating respectively. This showed that cohesion of T800 coating was 8,740-8,770 psi, and adhesion of T800 on Ti64 and NiCr was stronger than the cohesion of T800.

  • In multi-document summarization by means of salient sentence extraction, it is important to remove redundant information. In the removal process, the similarities and differences of sentences are considered. In this paper, we propose a method for multi-document summarization which extracts salient sentences without having redundant sentences by way of cohesive term clustering method that utilizes co-occurrence Information. In the cohesive term clustering method, we assume that each term does not exist independently, but rather it is related to each other in meanings. To find the relations between terms, we cluster sentences according to topics and use the co-occurrence information oi terms in the same topic. We conduct experimental tests with the DUC(Document Understanding Conferences) data. In the tests, our method shows better performance of summarization than other summarization methods which use term co-occurrence information based on term cohesion of document or sentence unit, and simple statistical information.

  • Welwyn Garden City benefits from the greater design cohesion and management of development which gave it a more distinctive 'brand image' almost from the outset than its older garden city(Letchworth, Hampstead). Its planner, Louis de Soissons, brought a more obvious sense of traditional formal urbanism to the design of the second garden city. This was rather different to the distinctive but rather more informal arts and crafts approach of Raymond Unwin. Here it attempts to analyze how they greatly and firmly established the concept of Housing Group in the residential design, and what similar elements between Unwin and de Soissons in the New Town planning. It is pointed out that the Housing Group theory is composed of recognizing urban life as totality, and group planning theory, and that they definitely originated a new technique in the residential area. It is analyzed that the syntactic relations between the group planning theory and enclosed housing cluster designs in the English garden city are epitomized in Welwyn Garden City.

  • The nature of genetic variation and diversity among the 65 multivoltine silkworm genotypes was evaluated for 16 post cocoon characters. The components of genetic variation revealed higher PCV (60.487%) and GCV (44.56%) for evenness (variation 1) followed by cohesion (PCV=55.38%, GCV=40.36%) and non-broken filament length (PCV=32.05%, GCV=31.28%). The higher heritability ($h^2$ in broad sense) was observed for boil-off loss (95.6%) followed by non-broken filament length (95.22%). The both genotypic and phenotypic correlation indicated significant positive correlation of filament length with non-broken filament length, silk recovery, raw silk, neatness, and low neatness; and negative correlation with denier, renditta and silk waste. The principal component analysis (PCA) revealed 75.381 % of total variance from the five principal components extracted. On the basis of Mahalonobis' $D^2$ values (Ward's minimum variance), the sixty-five multivoltine silkworm genotypes were classified in to 9 clusters with substantial inter and intra cluster distances. Number of genotypes included in different clusters varied from 3 to 17. The results indicated that the optimum distance obtained in cluster VII (15.059) along with higher cluster mean values especially for filament length, non broken filament length, renditta, silk recovery, silk waste, and raw silk emphasized the utilization of these genotypes in the conventional silkworm breeding programme for improvement of multivoltine silk fibre quality. The possibility of exploiting genetic variation in post cocoon traits for efficient breeding programme is discussed.

  • As a basic research to integrate and to retrieve XML documents efficiently, this paper proposes a clustering method by structures of XML documents. We apply an algorithm processing the many transaction data to the clustering of XML documents, which is a quite different method from the previous algorithms measuring structure similarity. Our method performs the clustering of XML documents not only using the cluster histograms that represent the distribution of items in clusters but also considering the global cluster cohesion. We compare the proposed method with the existing techniques by performing experiments. Experiments show that our method not only creates good quality clusters but also improves the processing time.

  • This paper describes subspace clustering of categorical data for convergence and integration. Because categorical data are not designed for dealing only with numerical data, The conventional evaluation measures are more likely to have the limitations due to the absence of ordering and high dimensional data and scarcity of frequency. Hence, conditional entropy measure is proposed to evaluate close approximation of cohesion among attributes within each cluster. We propose a new objective function that is used to reflect the optimistic clustering so that the within-cluster dispersion is minimized and the between-cluster separation is enhanced. We performed experiments on five real-world datasets, comparing the performance of our algorithms with four algorithms, using three evaluation metrics: accuracy, f-measure and adjusted Rand index. According to the experiments, the proposed algorithm outperforms the algorithms that were considered int the evaluation, regarding the considered metrics.
