Analysis of Billing System using AHP for Cloud Computing Services (클라우드 컴퓨팅 환경에서 AHP를 이용한 서비스 과금체계 연구)

  • Cloud-computing is in the limelight with expectation for cost reduction, because it alleviates the burden of initial investment and maintenance cost and based on pay-as-you-use billing policy. However, many suppliers of Cloud-computing service are suggesting diverse and complicated billing policies without consideration for setting reasonable service billing policy and definite criteria of properties to determine service billing system. So companies willing to use Cloud-computing service are hard to understand the billing system and often spend more expensive cost than necessary. Therefore, this study invested billing system properties of four representative suppliers. Based on these properties of billing system, this study found priorities using AHP survey which conducted to experts who are able to make decisions for adopting Cloud-computing in the company using or willing to use Cloud-computing service. We expect that this study can suggest basic guideline for comparing and analyzing properties of Cloud-computing service with standardized and objective method.

Three-Dimensional Face Point Cloud Smoothing Based on Modified Anisotropic Diffusion Method

  • This paper presents the results of three-dimensional face point cloud smoothing based on a modified anisotropic diffusion method. The focus of this research was to obtain a 3D face point cloud with a smooth texture and number of vertices equal to the number of vertices input during the smoothing process. Different from other methods, such as using a template D face model, modified anisotropic diffusion only uses basic concepts of convolution and filtering which do not require a complex process. In this research, we used 6D point cloud face data where the first 3D point cloud contained data pertaining to noisy x-, y-, and z-coordinate information, and the other 3D point cloud contained data regarding the red, green, and blue pixel layers as an input system. We used vertex selection to modify the original anisotropic diffusion. The results show that our method has improved performance relative to the original anisotropic diffusion method.

Adaptive Scheduling for QoS-based Virtual Machine Management in Cloud Computing

  • Cloud Computing can be viewed as a dynamically-scalable pool of resources. Virtualization is one of the key technologies enabling Cloud Computing functionalities. Virtual machines (VMs) scheduling and allocation is essential in Cloud Computing environment. In this paper, two dynamic VMs scheduling and allocating schemes are presented and compared. One dynamically on-demand allocates VMs while the other deploys optimal threshold to control the scheduling and allocating of VMs. The aim is to dynamically allocate the virtual resources among the Cloud Computing applications based on their load changes to improve resource utilization and reduce the user usage cost. The schemes are implemented by using SimPy, and the simulation results show that the proposed adaptive scheme with one threshold can be effectively applied in a Cloud Computing environment both performance-wise and cost-wise.

A Study on the Structure of the Dust Cloud Around ${\lambda}$-Orionis

  • The dust cloud around ${\lambda}$-Orionis is seen to be circular symmetric with the large angular extent (${\sim}8^{\circ}$). However, whether the three dimensional structure of the cloud is shell or torus ring is not yet fully resolved. We studied the structure of the dust cloud using a three-dimensional Monte-Carlo simulation code, MoCafe (Monte Carlo radiative transfer). The dust density structure of the cloud was inferred based on the star-count method. We assumed that the cloud is a spherical shell or a torus ring and calculated the radial profiles of scattered light originating from a central OB association. Comparison of the results with the S2/68 ultraviolet observations indicates that the cloud is a spherical shell. We also compared the Av map around ${\lambda}$-Orionis with the optical depth obtained based on the star-count.

The Design of an Efficient Proxy-Based Framework for Mobile Cloud Computing

  • The limited battery power in the mobile environment, lack of sufficient wireless bandwidth, limited resources of mobile terminals, and frequent breakdowns of the wireless network have become major hurdles in the development of mobile cloud computing (MCC). In order to solve the abovementioned problems, This paper propose a proxy-based MCC framework by adding a proxy server between mobile devices and cloud services to optimize the access to cloud services by mobile devices on the network transmission, application support, and service mode levels. Finally, we verify the effectiveness of the developed framework through an experimental analysis. This framework can ensure that mobile users have efficient access to cloud services.

  • 3D Point Cloud는 3D 콘텐츠를 더욱 실감 나게 표현하기 위한 데이터 포맷이다. Point Cloud 데이터는 3차원 공간상에 존재하는 데이터로 기존의 2D 영상에 비해 거대한 용량을 가지고 있다. 최근 대용량 Point Cloud의 3D 데이터를 압축하기 위해 V-PCC(Video-based Point Cloud Compression)와 같은 다양한 방법이 제시되고 있다. 따라서 Point Cloud 데이터의 원활한 전송 및 저장을 위해서는 V-PCC와 같은 압축 기술이 요구된다. V-PCC는 Point Cloud의 데이터들을 Patch로써 뜯어내고 2D에 Projection 시켜 3D의 영상을 2D 형식으로 변환하고 2D로 변환된 Point Cloud 영상을 기존의 2D 압축 코덱을 활용하여 압축하는 기술이다. 이 V-PCC로 변환된 2D 영상은 기존 2D 영상을 전송하는 방식을 활용하여 네트워크 기반 전송이 가능하다. 본 논문에서는 V-PCC 방식으로 압축한 V3C 데이터를 방송망으로 전송 및 소비하기 위해 MPEG Media Transport(MMT) Packet을 만드는 패킷화 방안을 제안한다. 또한 Server와 Client에서 주고받은 V3C(Visual Volumetric Video Coding) 데이터의 비트스트림을 비교하여 검증한다.

  • Cloud Computing virtualizes logical resources like cpu, memory and disks etcs from physical machines. This virtualization technology increases computing resource utilization and supports dynamic resource allocations. Because of these benefits, global cloud computing services like Amazon AWS, Google Cloud and Apple iCloud are prevalent. With this cloud Computing services, there has been a request about cloud migration between different cloud environments. If one service which operates in a cloud computing environment wants to migrate to another cloud environment, there should have been a compitability between two different cloud environment. but even global cloud computing services do not support this compitability. In this paper, we suggest a process and technology to cloud migrations based on open sources.

  • Cloud computing is an upcoming technology and emerging concept in the field of information technologies. Companies have begun to invest in cloud computing with the expectation that it will improve their business performances, operations, and processes. However, many companies are not so much aware of the cloud computing, so they can hesitate to adopt this new technology. The aims of the study are analyzing factors affecting the adoption of cloud computing and applying structural equation modeling technique to analyze the important dimensions of the adoption. Concordantly, previous studies are examined and expert interviews are arranged. Based on both our literature review and expert interviews, a model is proposed to measure the adoption of cloud computing. It is obvious that there are scarce researches about cloud computing adoption in the literature. Thus, the originality of the paper lies on that it proposes a research model for cloud computing adoption and it investigates various dimensions of cloud computing adoption in detail.

  • Recently, there have been various attempts for the adoption and spread of Building Information Modeling (BIM) in the construction industry. However, the spread of BIM has been less satisfied than expected, because of the insufficient, expensive hardware and software for the authoring, analysis and so forth. As a solution to resolve the obstacles, the applications of cloud computing technology to BIM have been introduced. Due to the vendor-dependent functions and lack of verification on the work process, the spread of cloud-based BIM has been limited in Korea. Therefore, this study proposes the functions of cloud computing services which can support BIM-based design processes through the review of practitioners, questionnaire survey and analysis of design process.

Edge Computing Server Deployment Technique for Cloud VR-based Multi-User Metaverse Content (클라우드 VR 기반 다중 사용자 메타버스 콘텐츠를 위한 엣지 컴퓨팅 서버 배치 기법)

  • Recently, as indoor activities increase due to the spread of infectious diseases, the metaverse is attracting attention. Metaverse refers to content in which the virtual world and the real world are closely related, and its representative platform technology is VR(Virtual Reality). However, since VR hardware is difficult to access in terms of cost, the concept of streaming-based cloud VR has emerged. This study proposes a server configuration and deployment method in an edge network when metaverse content involving multiple users operates based on cloud VR. The proposed algorithm deploys the edge server in consideration of the network and computing resources and client location for cloud VR, which requires a high level of computing resources while at the same time is very sensitive to latency. Based on simulation, it is confirmed that the proposed algorithm can effectively reduce the total network traffic load regardless of the number of applications or the number of users through comparison with the existing deployment method.
