Because the existing BIM platform is based on user services, the focus is on the development of SaaS (Software as a Service), which provides business services online. However, since a harbor is a security facility, the harbor BIM platform is preferably provided in a private form, rather than relying on the infrastructure environment provided by external cloud providers. Therefore, this study analyzes and reviews the main functions to be provided as SaaS services of the harbor BIM platform. The goal is to build a cloud-based harbor BIM platform that can provide this service to users. To this end, we built IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service) environment of the harbor BIM platform based on the open source Open Stack and integrate and develop PaaS environment with Open Shift applied with IaaS. We applied the GPU to the harbor BIM platform to verify the performance of the harbor BIM platform, and found that the rendering and loading times are improved. In particular, it is expected to reduce the cost of introduction and provide it as the basic cloud environment of similar BIM platform for infrastructure facilities.
When it comes to set up the BIM through the reverse engineering, the level of detail(LoD) required for finalized outcomes is different from each purpose. Therefore, it is necessary to establish some concrete criteria which describe the definition of LoDs on 3D modeling for the purpose of each reverse engineering. This research shows the criteria of the 1) positional accuracy, 2) generalization level, 3) scale level, 4) scope of description, and 5) the area available for application by classifying LoD from 1 to 6 on 3D modeling for each purpose of reverse engineering. Moreover, through applying those criteria for the 3D point cloud dataset of building made by terrestrial LiDAR, this research finds out the working hour of 3D modeling of reverse engineering by each LoDs according to defined LoD criteria for each level. It is expected that those findings, how those criteria of LoD on reverse engineering are utilized for modeling-workers to decide whether the outcomes can be suitable for their budget, applicable fields or not, would contribute to help them as a basic information.

Geospatial input setting to represent the reality of spatial distribution or quantitative property within model has become a major interest in earth system simulation. Many studies showed the variation of grid resolution could lead to drastic changes of spatial model results because of insufficient surface property estimations. Hence, in this paper, the authors proposed Monte Carlo Integration (MCI) to apply spatial probability (SP) in a spatial-sampling framework using a three-dimensional point cloud (3DPC) to keep the optimized spatial distribution and area/volume property of buildings in urban area. Three different decision rule based building identification results were compared : SP threshold, cell size, and 3DPC density. Results shows the identified building area property tend to increase according to the spatial sampling grid area enlargement. Hence, areal building property manipulation in the sampling frameworks by using decision rules is strongly recommended to increase reliability of geospatial modeling and analysis results. Proposed method will support the modeling needs to keep quantitative building properties in both finer and coarser grids.

The use of Hi-Tech in cultural heritage preservation and the promotion of cultural heritage values in general, particularly artifacts, opens new opportunities for attracting tourists while also posing a challenge due to the need to reward high-quality excursions to visitors historical and cultural values. Building Information Modeling (BIM) and Hi-Tech in new building management have been widely adopted in the construction industry; however, Historic Building Information Modeling (HBIM) is an exciting challenge in 3D modeling and building management. For those reasons, the Scan-to-HBIM approach involves generating an HBIM model for existing buildings from the point cloud data collected by Terrestrial 3D Laser Scanner integrated with Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR), contributes to spatial historic sites simulation for virtual experiences. Therefore, this study aims to (1) generate the application of Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality to Historic Building Information Modeling - based workflows in a case study which is a monument in the city; (2) evaluate the application of these technologies to improve awareness of visitors related to the promotion of historical values by surveying the experience before and after using this application. The findings shed light on the barriers that prevent users from utilizing technologies and problem-solving solutions. According to the survey results, after experiencing virtual tours through applications and video explanations, participant's perception of the case study improved. When combined with emerging Hi-Tech and immersive interactive games, the Historic Building Information Modeling helps increase information transmission to improve visitor awareness and promote heritage values.

Recent spatial information technology has brought innovative improvement in both efficiency and accuracy. Especially, airborne LiDAR system(ALS) is one of the practical sensors to obtain 3D spatial information. Constructing reliable 3D spatial data infrastructure is world wide issue and most of the significant tasks involved with modeling manmade objects. This study aims to create a test data set for developing automatic building modeling methods by simulating point cloud data. The data simulates various roof types including gable, pyramid, dome, and combined polyhedron shapes. In this study, a robust bottom-up method to segment surface patches was proposed for generating building models automatically by determining model key points of the objects. The results show that building roofs composed of the segmented patches could be modeled by appropriate mathematical functions and the model key points. Thus, 3D digitizing man made objects could be automated for digital mapping purpose.

Cloud BIM, which incorporates cloud computing technology and BIM technology, is increasingly used in construction. In particular, the recent trend of cloud services in IT field is to provide customized cloud services according to the characteristics of users. These changes are also linked to the cloud BIM, which is emerging in the construction industry. However, cloud BIM researches and commercial technologies that are currently underway do not reflect these trends, and they provide services through generalized management functions in construction projects. In order to solve these problems, a new type of customized cloud BIM service is needed that can provide cloud services by reflecting the characteristics of the project, customization based on the user's work, and providing the knowledge service. Therefore, this study aims to derive the system requirement function that should be preceded for implementing the customized cloud BIM service, and the target project is selected as the medical facility.

Recently, 3D laser scanning technology, which can collect accurate and quick information on phenomena, has been attracting attention among smart construction technologies. 3D laser scanning technology can obtain information most similar to reality at construction sites. In this study, we would like to apply a new member identification method to an actual building and present the possibility of applying point cloud data, which can be collected using 3D laser scanning technology, to measuring progress at construction sites. In order to carry out the research, we collected location information for component identification from BIM, set a recognition margin for the collected location information, and proceeded to identify the components that make up the building from point cloud data. Research results We confirmed that the columns, beams, walls, and slabs that make up a building can be identified from point cloud data. The identification results can be used to confirm all the parts that have been completed in the actual building, and can be used in conjunction with the unit price of each part in the project BOQ for prefabricated calculations. In addition, the point cloud data obtained through research can be used as accurate data for quality control monitoring of construction sites and building maintenance management. The research results can contribute to improving the timeliness and accuracy of construction information used in future project applications.

In the construction industry, there has been a surge in the implementation of high-tech equipment in recent years. Various technologies are being considered as potential solutions for future construction projects. Building information modeling (BIM), which utilizes advanced equipment, is a promising solution among these technologies. The need for safety inspection has also increased with the aging structures. Nevertheless, traditional safety inspection technology falls short of meeting this demand as it heavily relies on the subjective opinions of workers. This inadequacy highlights the need for advancements in existing maintenance technology. Research on building safety inspection using 3D laser scanners has notably increased. Laser scanners that use light detection and ranging (LiDAR) can quickly and accurately acquire producing information, which can be realized through reverse engineering by modeling point cloud data. This study introduces an innovative evaluation system for building safety using a 3D laser scanner. The system was used to assess the safety of an existing three-story building by implementing a reverse engineering technique. The 3D digital data are obtained from the scanner to detect defects and deflections in and outside the building and to create an as-built BIM. Subsequently, the as-built structural model of the building was generated using the reverse engineering approach and used for structural analysis. The acquired information, including deformations and dimensions, is compared with the expected values to evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed technique.
The premise of this research is the recent advancement of Building Information Modeling(BIM) Technology and Laser Scanning Technology(3D Scanning). The purpose of the paper is to amplify the potential offered by the combination of BIM and Point Cloud Data (PCD) for structural analysis. Today, enormous amounts of construction site data can be potentially categorized and quantified through BIM software. One of the extraordinary strengths of BIM software comes from its collaborative feature, which can combine different sources of data and knowledge. There are vastly different ways to obtain multiple construction site data, and 3D scanning is one of the effective ways to collect close-to-reality construction site data. The objective of this paper is to emphasize the prospects of pre-scanning and post-scanning automation algorithms. The research aims to stimulate the recent development of 3D scanning and BIM technology to develop Scan-to-BIM. The paper will review the current issues of Scan-to-BIM tasks to achieve As-Built BIM and suggest how it can be improved. This paper will propose a method of coordinating and utilizing PCD for construction and structural analysis during construction.
