The process of clothing production creates waste and scrap, which creates environmental, economic, and ethical issues. With this in mind the concept of ethical and sustainable fashion is discussed on many platforms as an important and timely topic. Many solutions have been presented on this subject. For the solution of this problem which has been increasing in the fashion and textile industry, the usage of sustainable materials and production methods is needed. There in a 'recyclable material cycle' should be adapted, instead of a 'traditional material cycle'. New methods and techniques should be developed with multi-disciplinary design approaches to produce creative and high value-added products in the name of fashion and sustainability. This is seen as one of the more effective solutions. This study aims to show that production scraps can be transformed into timely clothing designs with samples. The fabric scraps from different brands were turned into unique clothing designs with up to date trends by designer. In the practices completed while following the design process, collage and patchwork techniques were applied depending on the characteristics of the scrap fabric, artistic figures were hand-stitched onto the design. With this study, the scraps that get thrown into dumping grounds and damage the ecosystem can turn into ethical and economic benefits for the manufacturer. How to choose new high value-added products and create an awareness of social responsibility is also shown with examples in this study.
The Purposes of this study are to investigate consumers' causes of clothing preference and dispreference separately, and to get 'real' descriptions about that causes using an open-ended response questionnaire. The sample was composed of 81 undergraduate students. Subjects were asked to select their preferred clothing and disprefered clothing respectively among wardrobes they have and to describe the causes of that preference/dispreference. The data was collected through an open-ended response questionnaire and analyzed using content analysis. The system for content analysis was divided into the view Point of image, clothing itself, wearer's physical characteristics, wearing situation, others' response, wearer's values, wearer's consciousness, and purchase process. Image was the primary cause that raised clothing preference, and clothing itself, wearer's physical characteristic, wearing situation, others' response, wearer's consciousness, wearer's values, and purchase process followed. The purpose of this study is to develop a wedding dress design using digital clothing program to produce an actual dress. The level of actualization of the wedding dress design through digital clothing was evaluated by comparing the shape, ornament details, material, and tone. Also, the direction of improvement was sought by apprehending the limitations for the future of wedding dress design created by digital clothing. In order to evaluate the level of actualization on major design techniques of wedding dress, design planning of 4 dresses was performed based on the major images of wedding dresses. Virtual dress was created using DC Suite program and an actual wedding dress was produced using the pattern created in the process of virtual dress designing. The wedding dress designed by digital clothing was superior in silhouette or expression of pleats, but they rather lacked in expressing corsage, 3-dimensional objects, sheen material or double material. However, by supplementing a few functions, digital clothing can be effectively utilized in wedding dress design with the convenience and speed of digital operation. The digital clothing performs rapid production in the design development stage, modifies simply and confirms in real time and is highly effective, Therefore, if a program designed for wedding dress is developed, its effectiveness will be improved to maximize the customer satisfaction, and it will significantly reduce the time and cost which will make a great contribution to the wedding industry.

As for modern people, the fashion accessory plays a role in allowing the whole coordination in clothing to be highlighted, receives environmental factors in the complementary relationship with clothing, and is being progressed rapidly as well. Among accessories, it is considered to be probably significant to examine especially about the historical consideration and the transitional process in bag, which becomes a means of expressing free individuality in fashion while recognizing importance of bag, which is being developed today as a necessary article along with diverse lifestyles in each individual. Accordingly, the purpose of this study was to examine which correlation a bag comes to have with clothing according to a historical change in fashion and was changed in the transitional process of historical consideration on bag from the latter half of the medieval times to the modern times. Also, it tries to analyze on features in a form, material, kind, and color by period in a bag. Thus, the aim is to be conducive to a future qualitative research on bag Through the research process, it could be known about which a bag has been changed into diverse forms while experiencing several processes in order to conform with a flow of clothing, which is required by society according to a change in period, and about its historical significance, value, and aesthetic characteristics. It was certainly necessary for walking about with putting commodity necessary for people in it. As one of accessories that cannot be separated from clothing, it makes it available for knowing user's social standing and position and living scale, and makes it realized for the importance influence upon establishing a woman's identity.
This study is about the development of Fashion Design using of Korean Motive applied Digital Medium. With rapid change during the 21st century, digital media has emerged as the most important communication tool to facilitate speedy and interactive conversation. The recent emergence of 'Mass Customization' is a good reflection of digital transition's interactive features, realizing product variation and customization through flexibility and immediate responsiveness. In this so-called digital era, fashion is a tool that facilitates the use of digital media, while acting as the object, or the purpose, where digital media can be applied. This study looked at the development situations and future utilization method regarding digital fashion, which was recreated through digital media. In this study, a new design process was developed through digital media and actually manufactured Korean image clothing to reflect the motif of plant found in Korean folk paintings. Three-Dimensional(3D) digital shape was dressed in virtual clothing for comparison, thereby adding some features of textile design to three-Dimensional(3D) shape. Through the process, the study can provide various potential accesses to future development of fashion design utilizing digital media.
This study analyzed the "research trends and the design processes" of the traditional patterns by examining the previous researches on the application of the traditional patterns. For this purpose, 96 studies which include master's and doctoral theses and research papers published in 8 Korean academic journals on Clothing from 2000 to 2010 were chosen. The findings of this study are as follows: First, when the previous researches on the application of the traditional patterns were classified according to their subject matter, they were classified into: research on clothing design, research on textile design, research on the design of cultural commodities, and research on mixed design. Second, the researches that were classified according to their subject matter were re-classified according to their year of publication. It was shown that the most active research was on the clothing design. The research on textile design, when compared with clothing design, alternated an increase and an decrease in every other year. Also, research on the design of cultural commodities were fewer than the research on clothing design or textile design although it is on the increase from 2008. Third, when classified according to the types of design, it was found that the designs based on a flora were most common. Fourth, in most cases, in the process of the designs, the designswere dispensed with the original form or were simplified. The choice of the tone of color, in most cases, were based on the concept selected by the designer. The most common method for the expression of the designs was based on the printing. Also, when it came to the presentation of the designs, the original work greatly outnumbered an imaginary work. Based on this study, it is hoped that there will be more active research on the application of the traditional designs which, in turn, can popularize the aesthetic beauty of Korea.
The purpose of this study is to demonstrate the stage costumes realized by digital clothing ; how realistic and accurate representation of empirical testing and in the consultation process for the production stage costumes, determine whether digital clothing has value that can be substituted for the stage costume. This study researched the stage costume manufacture, Isabel's costume of the musical 'Christmas Carol', process by using the 3-D clothing simulation technology : DC Suite. The results of this study is as following. They share many similarities between the stage costumes and digital clothing. It is possible that digital clothing takes a role as a substitute for stage costumes in the production process of the clothing samples. The clothing production system, including stage costumes, by digital clothing costs and lead time can be saved by innovative. Also the result can be saved without restriction, and this system can exert its effect in a very efficient way to incorporation of foreign producers and production system.
This study shows that clothes are made just the same as the real thing in the virtual space through 3D digital technology. This study is significant to expand the area of fashion design in the virtual space. This study analyzes the practical use of the third dimension computer graphics in the aspect of fashion, and it is proposed the 3D fashion design simulation in the virtual space used on 3D studio max, poser, photoshop program according to fashion design process. The main design concept is "temporary bridge" from rainbow. "Temporary bridge" is a rainbow bridge which connects nature, man and technology, and also the past, present, and future. This study is supposed six fashion design in accordance with three sub-theme under main concept by changing rotor and texture used on 3D simulation. The conclusion are as follows : First fashion design process, which consists of design conceptualization, design definition, and computer design process, composed of body modeling, clothing modeling, texture mapping, rendering by lighting and camera establishing are compared. Second, fashion design process is applied to digital technology. Third, the method of body modeling is both that of direct modeling in 3D Studio Max and that of importing DXF file from poser. And the method of direct clothing modeling in 3D Studio Max are two methods, polygon modeling and nurbs modeling. Polygon modeling is more satisfied than nurbs modeling in the aspect of expression to clothing and round face. Forth, this study applies textures and colors transformed by photoshop on manufactured 3D Clothes. According to this result, fashion designers are able to confirm a customer or client in their design minds viewing 3D simulation by various textures. colors and angles. It is able to advance digital fashion show in the future.

The fashion industry has become more interested in sustainable fashion design due to the demand for environmental action based on increased social responsibility awareness and environmentalism. In the current sustainability fashion industry, guidelines for sustainable fashion design are essential. This study suggests guidelines for a sustainable design process based on a theoretical and practical approach. An analysis of several global fashion brands will be applied to the whole apparel design process. This paper will explore the sustainable fashion design process and deal with LCD, as an important factor, by analyzing three global fashion brands: 'H&M', 'NIKE', and 'Levi's'. These three companies are the most active in the area of sustainable performance. The sustainable fashion guidelines will be controlled based on a strategy of practical use in design for sustainable (DFS) fashion industry. The results indicate that the fashion industry has to invest heavily in the future rather than focus on short-term profits; consequently, sustainability is a new growth direction for fashion companies. In addition, the fashion industry should work towards sustainable design under a clear understanding of its goals.
The aim of this study was to suggest appropriate factors for production pattern making of women's clothing. Sample pattern designers and production patterners of 13 women's brands were individually interviewed about pattern making process and factors necessary. The results were as follows: The factors to be considered in pattern making were categorized in three groups. 1. Factors to be considered to achieve the correct use of specific materials: elasticity, shrinkage, lining and interlining 2. Factors to be considered to satisfy the design specifications: silhouette, dart distribution, collar and sleeve, trimming 3. Factors to be considered for better sewing quality: skillfulness of the sewer, sewing methods and sewing equipment. 4. Suggestions were made for appropriate factors. A focus-group-interview in pattern design has been interviewed to verify the suggested factors. The factors were presented as a guide to develop the production pattern. 5. For better usage of the factors, standardization were suggested for making process with necessary factors for jacket, skirt.
