The present research analyzed the social meaning of Korean clothing in women's magazine. The data were included the advertisements and publicity related to Korean clothing in two women's magazines and condensed at 5 year intervals with content analysis. The identified 276 advertisements and publicity were categorized into four areas. The categories were the trend of exterior growth of advertisements and publicity, appeals and approach, the elements of advertisements and publicity including background, the relation of models, situations, and styles of Korean clothing over times. The results of the study were as Follows: 1. In conjunction with external growth of advertisements and publicity of Korean clothing, the social meaning of Korean clothing has changed from ceremonial clothing to daily-wear clothing. Especially since 1980, the theme of advertisement and publicity of Korean clothing were changed form the beauty of traditional Korean clothing such as grace of dignity to the individuality which was the typical value of western Clothing. 2. The trends of appeals related to Korean clothing and applied Korean clothing have reflected the changing time and society. Since 1980, the emotional or mixed approach with metaphor have increased, whereas factual or situational approach were dominated in 1960s and 1970s. 3. The styles including silhouette, detail, textile and pattern of Korean clothing and applied Korean clothing also reflected the changing trends of Korean society. Especially since 1980, the applied style of Korean clothing has adopted the trends of western clothing. Implications for the future research were suggested.

Clothing pursuit benefits were composed of the brand value, attractiveness, fashion, individuality and economic value pursuit, Second, Clothing pursuit benefits had an significant effect on the image preference of alpha-numeric brand name. Especially, individuality pursuit and attractiveness pursuit have influenced on the natural, new, active, urban images. Third, the new, active, impactive, natural images had significant effects on the attitude, purchasing intention and conformity of products.
The purpose of this study was to compare clothing benefits and the types of fashion information sources according to family life cycle. Subjects were selected through stratified sampling technique in Seoul and suburban area. Collection of the research data was made using a self-administered questionnaire survey. Factor analysis, ANOVA, and Duncan test were used to conduct the data analysis on 562 out of 600 questionnaires. Clothing benefit variables were reduced to five factors : fashion/social status, individuality, function/comfort, figure flaws compensation, and economic value. The result showed significant differences on 3 clothing benefits(fashion/social status, individuality, and function/comfort) and 5 fashion information soures (celebrities, street fashion, T.V commercial, Internet/home shopping, fashion catalog) according to family life cycle.
Clothing pressure is considered the essential factor affecting the comfort of clothing, so it is crucial that it is measured precisely. The purpose of this study is to construct a prototype using the Adafruit Flora as the Arduino system, which can be used as a wearable framework for easy, low-cost, and precise clothing pressure measurement. The study also aims to determine how best to conduct the procedure of sensor calibration. To optimize the accuracy of the sensors, the calibration procedure was implemented using mathematical methods that combined polynomial and exponential regression in a hybrid approach. The prototype can easily measure clothing pressure even during active movements, as seen in the detection of stable signals. In addition, since the system was specifically proposed as a wearable patch that can be easily attached and removed as necessary, it can also be used to standardize the value of clothing pressure in each movement.
This study is to understand fashion product aesthetics by exploring the antecedents of aesthetic experiences and the influence of aesthetic experiences on impulse buying behavior. A total of 520 usable questionnaires were obtained through an internet survey. A structural equation model using a correlation matrix with maximum likelihood was estimated by using AMOS 18.0 to examine the relationships among aesthetic value, aesthetic acumen, affective experience, cognitive experience, and impulse buying behavior. The results showed that aesthetic value and acumen had a significant effect on the cognition of aesthetic experiences and that aesthetic experiences had a significant effect on impulse buying behavior. These results highlight the powerful motivational force behind fashion product aesthetics. The key implications for research and management are discussed further.
This study intends to examine the influencing factors in conformity and individuality of make up. For the study, a questionnaire survey was conducted of 436 women in between their twenties to fifties residing in the Kyeongnam region. Obtained data were analyzed pearson's correlation coefficient and multiple regression analysis. The result is summarized as follows.; The influence on conformity and individuality of make up can be described into 4 factors that are included in the decision making process of conformity and individuality, in other words, the demographical characteristic, the body cathexis, the need and the clothing value. The demographic characteristics, the marriage status and the education had a direct influence on conformity, however the body cathexis did not have a direct influence on any subordinate factors of conformity and individuality, but had indirect influence having the need as a parameter or had no influence having the clothing value as a parameter.
The purposes of this study were 1) to test the interactive effects of usage-situation (wedding receptions, home, and vacation) and personal characteristics (age, income, education, job or self-monitoring) on clothing benefits sought and 2) to identify brand type preference of consumer groups segmented by age, income, education, job or self-monitoring within a situation. The data were collected via a questionnaire from 601 housewives of ages 20's∼ 50's living in Seoul, Korea. The data were analyzed by factor analysis, repeated measure two-way ANOVA and Chi-square test. The results of this study were as follows. First, by repeated measure tow-way ANOVA, there were significant interactions of age and situation, and interactions of education and situation on Youth/Fashion benefits and Brand-value benefits. And interactive effects of education and situation on Self-expression benefits and Economic-value benefits were significant by repeated measure two-way A NOVA. Second, based on x2-test, brand type preference was significant difference between consumer groups segmented by age, education and job within a situation. And preferences of brand type were different among usage situations.
Fashion industry constantly produces and consumes, which leads to huge waste piles of perfectly usable textiles in landfills, as well as other negative effects of an exploitative and excessively rapid fashion process. Pollution created by making and dyeing clothes has pitted fashion industry and environmentalists against each other. In this context, upcycling is seen as an optimal way to solve the growing problem of waste in fashion industry. The first purpose of the study was to analyze the relationships between upcycling fashion products' perceived value, pro-environmental beliefs, attitudes, electronic word of mouth (eWOM) intention, and purchase intention. The second purpose is to verify the difference of perceived consumption value among the consumers' awareness level and purchase experience. A total of 258 valid responses obtained from a group of 20-30-year-old participants were collected through an online survey. SPSS 23.0 and Amos 18.0 programs were used for data analysis. The results of the present study suggest that there are significant effects of upcycling fashion products' perceived value on pro-environmental belief; furthermore, pro-environmental belief was found to positively influence attitude, eWOM intention, and purchase intention. In addition, there are differences of perceived consumption value among the consumers' awareness level and purchase experience. Taken together, the results of this study provide researchers and practitioners with a deeper understanding of consumers' values, beliefs, attitudes, and behavioral intentions towards upcycling fashion products.
The purpose of this study was to examine the dyeing properties of four kinds of composite yams that were twisted in different processes. The composite yarns consist of acetate and functional polyester in ratio of 70 : 30. The composite yams were dyed at 100$^{circ}C$ and 125$^{circ}C$ using three types of dyes, disperse dyes for acetate fiber, PET fiber and PET-acetate blended fiber, in the three primary colors. The exhaustion($\%$) and K/S value were observed for each case. Also the effects of four different twisting processes to dyeing properties and physical properties were examined. Regardless of twisting methods, the composite yarns that were dyed at 125$^{circ}C$ had higher exhaustion($\%$) than those were dyed at 100$^{circ}C$ with all three types of dyes; However, tendency of the K/S value after reduction cleaning process was measured at 100$^{circ}C$ and the value measured 125$^{circ}C$ had a great difference with disperse dyes for acetate and dyes for PET. The difference of the K/S values of composite yarns, when dyed at 100$^{circ}C$ and 125$^{circ}C$ with disperse dyes for PET-acetate blended fiber, was almost negligible. According to twisting methods K/S values were in the following order: AP1 > AP3 > AP4> AP2. This means that AP1, treated at 220$^{circ}C$, had the highest K/S value and K/S value becomes higher as the yam is higher twisted and becomes lower as lower twisted. On the other hand, the dry shrinkage and wet shrinkage showed low shrinkage rate when the twist was high and steam setting temperature was high.
Social commerce is not only a new form of shopping malls that did not exist in the past, but also a new form of media as it gets combined with social networking services. The purpose of this study is to analyze the influence of clothing involvement on the relationship between shopping values, attitudes, and purchase intentions of consumers in the group-buying type of social commerce. A specialized Internet survey company carried out the survey targeting consumers in their 20s and 30s with experience of purchasing fashion products using group-buying type of social commerce. A total of 200 questionnaires were used for the final analysis. Descriptive statistics, factor analysis, t-test, and regression analysis were conducted by using SPSS 12.0 and AMOS 19.0. The results are as follows. First, diversity/informativeness, impulse/accumulation, price, convenience, reliability, interaction, and adventure were identified as shopping value dimensions. Second, especially in cases of diversity/informativeness, price, and interaction, there were significant differences between the high involvement group and the low involvement group. Third, five of the categories, which were diversity/informativeness, price, convenience, reliability, and interaction, had significant influence on attitude and purchase intention. When the attitude variable was included with shopping value as independent variables in the regression model to predict purchase intention, the attitude variable presented a full mediating effect or a partial mediating effect between shopping value and purchase intention. Also, the relationship among shopping value, attitude, and purchase intention was different to some degree according to the level of consumer clothing involvement.
