  • The major factors that make ZEV affordable are the range and cost. The development of advanced batteries such as Ni-MH battery can solve the problem partly; on the hand the battery management system is an efficient way. Ni-MH battery and battery ECU is a key component influencing ZEV performance, such as range, acceleration and hill-climbing capability. Because most problems related to battery such as short circuit, over-discharge and overcharge occur easily during operation, it is necessary to develop a dedicated battery ECU for HEV. This paper proposes a new SOC algorithm for the HEV based on the terminal voltage and current integration. And battery ECU was designed and analyzed. Also, the validity is confirmed through experiment.

  • Although KBANN(knowledge-based artificial neural network) has been shown to be more effective than other machine learning algorithms, KBANN doesn't have the theory refinement capability because the topology of the network can't be altered dynamically. Although TopGen algorithm was proposed to extend the ability of KABNN in this respect, it also had some defects due to the connection of hidden nodes from all input nodes and the use of beam search. An algorithm, which could solve this TopGen's defects by adding the hidden nodes connected from only related input nodes and using hill-climbing search with backtracking, is proposed.

  • In this paper, we examine the scheme that the CR (Cognitive Radio) user can coexist with primary user with obeying the concept of interference temperature proposed by FCC. Regarding to the capability of classifying the signals of primary user after the spectrum sensing, the interference temperature model can be discriminated by the ideal and generalized ones. And then, about each model, it can optimize the bandwidth and transmit power with satisfying predetermined capacity of CR user. Especially, it has been considered to allocate to CR user not to interfere to primary users for proper coexistence in conventional interference temperature multiple access technique, proposed by T. Clancy, but this paper proposes the scheme that considering QoS of not only primary users, but also CR user. The hill-climbing algorithm is employed to produce the bandwidth and transmit power subject to satisfying the required capacity.

  • This study was carried to develop the chip-harvester and to analysis the operation productivity and cost for effective collection and forwarding of forest biomass. Main target specification of chip-harvester is speed of 8km/h, maximum climbing capacity of $30^{\circ}$ and maximum load capability of 2000 kg. Body structure is articulate type to reduce turning radius. Driving equipment is six-wheel drive, and a rear wheel is tandem bogie type to increase grip force. As a result of the driving test about developed chip-harvester, driving speed was 6.9 km/hr and 8.1 km/hr in ${\pm}10%$ slope with loaded and 7.3 km/hr and 7.9 km/hr in ${\pm}10%$ slope without load. As a result of the operation productivity and cost, operation productivity of grinding and forwarding was approximately $10m^3$ per day, and operation cost was 393,126 won per day.

  • The weight-to-power ratio of the standard truck for the climbing lane design is known to be 200lb/hp. The value was known to be assumed based on constant trucks' capability and regional distributions in stead of widely varied distributions region by region. Additionally, this value was assumed after investigating registered vehicles' statistics instead of investigating real portions of truck volumes. Therefore, it may be said that the value of the current standard truck does not reflect regional or industrial diversity and proportions of truck volumes. To resolve these issues, the present paper studies diversified standard trucks which consider regionally or industrially diversified and observed-volume based weigh-to-power ratios. For this purpose, individual trucks' weigh-to-power ratios obtained at toll-gates of national expressways were used. For regionally based study, the whole nation are divided into 8 regions, then each region is characterized by a unit of a weigh-to-power ratio. The applicability of each value is provided. Results show that the single value for the nationwide standard truck may be 208 lb/hp, 8 lb/hp higher than the current value of 200 lb/hp. Results also show that regional values ranged widely from 170 lb/hp to 230 lb, 30 lb/hp higher/lower than the current value. Conclusively, regional diversity of trucks' weigh-to-power ratios was identified then three types of standardized weigh-to-power ratios which may represent regional characteristics were suggested. As the diversified standard truck are applied to the design standard, two benefits are expected such as decrease of rear-end accident rates or decrease of climb lane construction costs.
