Hydraulic Characteristics of the Non-power Soil Cleaning and Keeping System by the Large-Scale Model Test at the Dike Gate (배수문에서 실내모형실험에 의한 무동력 토사제거시스템의 수리 특성)

  • In this study, the large-scale hydraulic model test was performed to investigate the hydraulic characteristics for development of the non-power soil cleaning and keeping system at the dike gate. The outlet height, outflow number, outflow discharge, and outflow cycle were compared and analyzed. The non-power soil cleaning and keeping system was most effective at 11.2 mm in the outlet height. And then the mean outflow cycle was 1.09 sec, and the mean outflow discharge was $0.00164m^3/s$. The total outflow number increased gradually as the water level of a water tank increased, and the outlet height decreased. As a level of water tank decreased, the mean outflow cycle was lengthened, and the unit outflow discharge increased. This result showed this system was most effective. To remove the silty clay deposited in facilities, the methods of excavation, dredging, high pressure washing, etc have been applied to the tidal facilities such as land reclamation, a small size fishing port, and a harbor for maintenance. However, this is extremely cost-ineffective, whereas the non-power soil cleaning and keeping system will bring about an enormously positive economic effect. In addition, when the non-power soil cleaning and keeping system is applied to the dike gate of land reclamation, a thorough examination of the local tidal data and the careful system planning are required to prevent the disaster damage caused by flooding.

Preparation and Behavior of High Performance Alkaline Cleaning Agents for Steel (철강용 고성능 알칼리세정제의 제조 및 세정거동)

  • $Na_2CO_3$. Sodium orthosilicate (Na-OSi), Tetronix T-701 (T-701), Na-dioctyl sulfosuccinate (303C), Newpol PE-68 (PE-68), MJU-100A, and tetrasodium pyrophosphate were blended to prepare high performance alkaline cleaning agents (ACASs). The results of cleaning test with steel specimen showed that ACAS-6 ($Na_2CO_3$ 50g/Na-OSi 35g/T-701 20g/303C 18g/PE-68 17g/MJU-100A 10g/TSPP 20g/ water 180g mixture) had a good cleaning power. The cleaning power for press-rust preventing oil was 98% and 99% degreasing at 4wt%, $70^{\circ}C$ and $90^{\circ}C$, respectively ; for quenching oil, the cleaning power of ACAS-6 was 91% degreasing at 4wt% and $70^{\circ}C$. The foam heights measured immediately after foaming by Ross & Miles method and Ross & Clark method at 6wt%, $60^{\circ}C$ were 18mm and 65mm, respectively. It was concluded that ACAS-6 had a good low foaming cleaning agent.

  • With the increasing demands for clean environment development of air cleaning systems has been received increasing attention. Pulse power systems are widely used for air cleaning in the industrial applications. High voltage pulse power supply affects the performance of the overall environmental system. In this study high voltage micro pulse power supply for removing NOx in diesel engines is developed. The ratings of the pulse voltage is 20kV. The pulse width is 10usec and max. pulse repetition ratio is 1kHz.

  • It is difficult to meet the cleanliness requirement of $10^{10}/\textrm{cm}^2$ for the giga level device fabrication with mechanical cleaning techniques like scrubbing which is widely used to remove the particles generated during Chemical Mechanical Polishing (CMP) processes. Therefore, the second cleaning process is needed to remove metallic contaminants which were not completely removed during the mechanical cleaning process. In this paper the experimental results for the removal of the metallic contaminants existing on the wafer surface using remote plasma $H_2$ cleaning and UV/$O_3$ cleaning techniques are reported. In the remote plasma $H_2$ cleaning the efficiency of contaminants removal increases with decreasing the plasma exposure time and increasing the rf-power. Also the optimum process conditions for the removal of K, Fe and Cu impurities which are easily found on the wafer surface after CMP processes are the plasma exposure time of 1min and the rf-power of 100 W. The surface roughness decreased by 30-50 % after remote plasma $H_2$ cleaning. On the other hand, the highest efficiency of K, Fe and Cu impurities removal was achieved for the UV exposure time of 30 sec. The removal mechanism of the metallic contaminants like K, Fe and Cu in the remote plasma $H_2$ and the UV/$O_3$ cleaning processes is as follows: the metal atoms are lifted off by $SiO^*$ when the $SiO^*$is evaporated after the chemical $SiO_2$ formed under the metal atoms reacts with $H^+ \; and\; e^-$ to form $SiO^*$.

Preparation and Analysis of Alkaline Powder Cleaning Agents for Steel (철강용 알칼리 분말세정제의 제조 및 세정해석)

  • Alkaline powder cleaning agents (APCAs) were prepared by blending of $Na_2CO_3$ tetrasodium pyrophosphate (TSPP). sodium orthosilicate (Na-OSi), Na-dioctyl sulfosuccinate (303C), Demol C, and MJU-100A (100A). The physical properties of APCAs tested with steel specimen showed the following results. The cleaning powers of APCA-6 ($Na_2CO_3$ 250g/TSPP 70g/Na-OSi 40g/303C 60g/Demol C 50g/100A 30g mixture) for press-rust preventing oil was 97% and 98% degreasing at 2wt%, $70^{\circ}C$ and $90^{\circ}C$, respectively; for Quenching oil, the cleaning power of APCA-6 was 95% degreasing at 2wt% and $70^{\circ}C$. From the results, it was ascertained that APCA-6 exhibited a good cleaning power. Also low foaming power tests proved that the APCA-6 maintained good defoaming effect.

Development of Environmentally Friendly Aqueous Cleanser by Emulsification of D-Limonene (D-Limonene 유화공정에 의한 환경친화성 수성세정제 개발)

  • For the purpose of development of an environmentally friendly aqueous cleanser, some experimental researches on emulsification of D-limonene were performed. OA series surfactants with different molecular weight were adapted as an emulsifier for preparation of O/W emulsion. Cleaning power of aqueous cleanser was measured by a dipping method adapting abietic acid(AA) as a solubilizate. Besides, drop size and drop size distribution, contact angle and storage stability of the aqueous cleansers were also measured and relationships among them were examined. Decrease in molecular weight of surfactant induced small drop size and contact angie, resulting in high cleaning power of aqueous cleanser. Aqueous cleanser consisted of 3wt.% OA300 and 30wt.% D-limonene showed the highest cleaning power, but displayed unfortunately with low storage stability. The storage stability of the aqueous cleanser with OA300 was significantly enhanced by addition of 0.5wt.% OA600 at the expanse of decrease in cleaning power.

  • Ultrasonic cleaning at high frequency around 1 MHz, called megasonic cleaning, is commonly used to remove particles less than 1 ㎛ by generating high frequency accelerations on the cleaning objects. Cleaning is performed in an ultrasonically-excited liquid contained in a double-structured container. Ultrasonic waves generated by piezoelectric transducers propagate in the outer container and are transmitted through the inner container. The bottom of the inner container is inclined to make oblique incidence of the ultrasonic wave in order to raise the efficiency of the transmission through the bottom plate. This work deals with the efficiency of the transmission, which directly affects the cleaning performance. The transmission characteristics of the ultrasonic wave in the megasonic cleaner have been obtained analytically and numerically for the variations of some parameters, such as the thickness and inclined angle of the bottom plate of the inner container and the chemical ratio and temperature of the cleaning liquid. The calculated results have yielded the optimum cleaning condition in terms of the sound power transmitted into the cleaning liquid.

The Numerical Analysis of Fluid Flow in the Tube Cleaning System (튜브 클리닝 시스템 내부의 유동 특성에 관한 수치해석적 연구)

  • The numerical analysis of fluid flow in the tube cleaning system is examined. The working flow used in this study is seawater, and the temperature change is not considered as the temperature change of seawater in the tube cleaning system is negligible. Also, the analysis is performed under the assumption of steady state. The screens of complicated morphologies are simplified for the analysis, and only one fourth of the tube cleaning system is modeled as the system has a symmetrical shape. The velocity inlet boundary condition is employed for the seawater inlet, whereas the outflow boundary condition is employed for two seawater outlets. In applying the outflow boundary condition for the system with more than two outlets, the flow rate can be arbitrarily assigned. In the analysis, the finite-volume method based numerical analysis tool, the pressure based solver, the standard k-$\varepsilon$ model are utilized, and the under relaxation factor is modified appropriately. From the analysis, the distribution of velocity vectors, pressure and path lines are obtained, and the physical characteristics of fluid flow in the tube cleaning system is well-examined.

The cleaning powers of ACA-6(S-204 80g/$Na_2CO_3$, 160g/Na-OSi, 80g/T-701, 60g/MJU-100A, 20g mixture) for press-rust preventing oil was 98% and 99% degreasing at 2wt%, $70^{\circ}C$ and $90^{\circ}C$, respectively : for quenching oil, the cleaning power of ACA-6 was 95% degreasing at 2wt% and $70^{\circ}C$. From these results, it was ascertained that ACA-6 exhibited a good cleaning power. Foam heights measured immediately after foaming by Ross & Miles method and Ross & Clark method at 3wt%. $60^{\circ}C$ were 17mm and 40mm, respectively. As the result, ACA-6 was proved a good low foaming cleaning agent.

Estimation of Washing Duration of Desulfurized Absorber in a Heavy Oil Power Plant (중유화력발전소 탈황 흡수탑 세정시기예측)

  • In desulfurization facilities of oil-fired power plant, gypsum scale is attached in the absorber inner surface as the operating time increases. For this reason, the maximum possible load of the power generation is set down, resulting in further generation stop. Cleaning of absorber for scale removal can be determined at the time of setting down of the maximum possible load. In this study, 6 weeks before the maximum possible load of the power generation was down set, at the same time and desulfurization facilities outlet $SO_2$ concentration value was more than 130ppm, absorber differential pressure exceeded $380mmH_2O$, it was confirmed to be the time that has elapsed 44 weeks after the previous absorber cleaning. Cleaning time of the absorber was predicted to be a time which has elapsed 50 weeks from the previous cleaning time.
