  • This paper was made for the purpose of analyging primary school child's concept formation about Euclidian space. Using clinical method, this research was executed to 360 children at a primary school in Inchon city. Research results according to the problem were as following: (1) The concept formation about Euclidion space is later than that of Piaget's research. (2) The vertical concept formation is faster than the horizontal that. (3) Sex Difference of concept formation about Euclidian space is as follews; boy's concept formation is almost three time as fast as girl's

  • The purpose of this paper is to verify the spatial distribution difference between formation and dissolution of start-up firms related to life-cycle. For this purpose, a Korean business directories and information on business closures were used, and location information, starting time, and closure time of start-up firms in the Seoul metropolitan region from 2007 to 2009 were generated in this study. It applied The spatial distribution analysis methods on the formation and dissolution of the start-up firms included Barcki measurements and global spatial autocorrelation. The total number of start-up firms was 5,810, and their five-year survival rate was 77.25%. The dissolution pattern of the start-up firms was dispersed more than their formation pattern in each of the Seoul metropolitan regions, the city of Seoul, and the city of Incheon-Gyeonggi province. In addition, differences between the formation and dissolution patterns according to size and industry category of the firms were confirmed.

  • A vertical city with multifunctional land use turns out to be the most viable solution for an urban condition characterized by increasing density due to population expansion, topographical limitation of buildable land, economic development and the pursuit for collective sustainable living, such as in Hong Kong. This paper presents initial research results from a study on the chronological and typological evolution of tall buildings in the city, from the climate-responsive verandah typology to the mixed-use hyper-commercial podium and residential tower typologies that predominate today, to the ultimate formation of a vertical city. Case studies and surveys have focused on the development of this building typology throughout the decades since the 1920s, substantiating a discussion on the subjective and objective factors contributing to a genesis of the vertical city phenomenon in Hong Kong. The discussion will engage, under the notion of the vertical city, on how residents and visitors adapt to the growing density of the city, and how they accustom themselves to the changing urban morphology over time. Advantages such as high efficiency, spaces savings, time convenience, etc.; and disadvantages such as deficiency in livability, incompatibility of uses, environmental health deficiencies, etc.; serve as a reference for other cities in need of high-density planning due to population and economic growth.

  • Chemical properties of aerosols were investigated by analyzing the inorganic water-soluble content in $PM_{2.5}$ collected in the downtown area of Jeju City in Jeju Island. Due to an increase in both the number of visiting tourists and the size of local population, the number of cars in this area is increasing, causing an increase in $PM_{2.5}$. Eight $PM_{2.5}$-bound major inorganic ions were analyzed during the summer and winter periods. The water-soluble inorganic component represents a significant fraction of $PM_{2.5}$. In particular, secondary inorganic aerosols contribute 36.2% and 47.5% of $PM_{2.5}$ mass in summer and winter, respectively. Nitrate concentrations increase for $[NH_4{^+}]/[SO_4{^{2-}}]$>1.5, and excess ammonium, which is necessary for ammonium nitrate formation, is linearly correlated with nitrate. These results are clearly observed during the winter because conditions are more conducive to the formation of ammonium nitrate. A significant negative correlation between Nitrogen Oxidation Ratio (NOR) and temperature was observed. The obtained results can be useful for a better understanding of the aerosol dynamics in the downtown area in Jeju City.

  • The retail store, which appears in various ways of the modern city, is the architectural result that the merchandise is finally delivered to consumers. The relationship between the commerce based on manufacturing and distribution and the retail store as urban architecture can be understood not only from the viewpoint of economics and business administration but also the problem of the formation of urban history and urban organization. The modern industrial development in Korea had been progressed by the state led, as the manufacturing and distribution developed in turn. This social and economic situation influenced the formation of the retail store of the city. This is different from the West, which the development has been conducted together. The cosmetics sales space, which is the subject of this study, has changed in various forms from the 1960s to the 1990s. Cosmetics brand retail shop is a corporate brand-based space, but paradoxically, it has a historical characteristic of urban architecture in that it is branding city street. This specificity of Seoul is unexplained by the development process of the Western and does not exist as a physically huge or special construction sometimes. However, it operates as a urban architecture in Seoul where the complicated.

  • This study is to find out formation and development process of urban area in modern ages(1870-1949) focused Yanji city in the east-northern area in china. After the discharge of confinement in the late 19 century, the settlements were formed around east area, that is, the present Yanji urban area. The japanese consular office had been moved in east area since the beginning of the early 20 century, and so, the existing residents moved to west area. And the military and administrative facilities were located on the urban outskirts. After the September 18th Incident on 1932, Yanji had been constructed with the strategic center area under the urban planning. The administrative facilities of those days had been altered to he functional branches and educational facilities, and become the basis of development of Yanji city.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to propose a methodology for the urban regeneration by constructing contemporary publicness. Beginning with researching on the theoretical fundamentals about publicness and urban regeneration, it introduces the examples to analyze the spatial characteristics of publicness in the contemporary urban architecture, and finally simulates a model for the formation of space through a real work. Method: The study is partially based on the Executive Urban Project, 'Masterplan to make New Taekrigi : Gosan', which was planned in 2013 to suggest a strategic settlement layout for urban regeneration. Making architectural ideas permeated into the model of urban planing, throughout the design process of initially pursued concepts to the design development stage, we could encounter a new type of formation of urban space, coinciding with the historical, cultural ecological contexts. Result: The expected result of the study intends to enhance the relationship between the formation of public space and urban structure, also ultimately to produce a urban system as 'space generator' to fulfill the social needs and its requirements.

  • As public space such as plaza and square in the compact city type multi-use complex is a social public space that various communication and cultural exchange take places in city environment. The purpose of this study is to analyse and categorize the design elements as a valuation basis for the public space in the compact city type multi-use complex. The scope of contents of this study is focused on the Central City, COEX and Western Dome facilities in Korea. This study review based on the previous studies and statistical analysis about questionnaires obtained from 131 users of three facilities were conducted for this study. The results of the survey as follows accessibility, comfort, exchange were extracted as the aspects for evaluation for functional activity and connection, openness, hierarchy were extracted as the aspects for evaluation for space formation. The K facility's priority aspect is the accessibility and the S and the W facilities' are the openness.
