In urban planning and architecture, there has been emerging paradigm of regeneration, taking place of demolishing first, and new development next principle. Retrofit and remodeling, thereby, became important. The purpose of the research in to examine a reused space with new function. The target space was the former slaughterhouse in the ailing district of the Bologna City with ever increasing vandalism and fear caused by empty buildings, which was regenerated into a culturally affluent area, such as cultural facilities including cinema, gallery, art school cluster along with elderly club and child care center nearby. Through this regeneration, more affluent life opportunity was provided for citizens and local residents. This case study shows how old the building and interior space have been transformed to accommodate contemporary needs, while preserving historical features.

This study aims to examine the perceptual features of street buildings, which affect the urban scape, and establish design guidelines by types of buildings. According to this purpose, this study conducted document research, field survey through site visits and questionnaire survey for each subject. The field survey was carried out to study the exterior form characteristics of street buildings, and images of the streetscape in Gyeongju. For the questionnaire survey, the preference of 33 architecture-related people on the formal constituents of street buildings was investigated. The results of the document research, field survey and questionnaire survey were put together to elaborate the design guideline for urban street facade in historical city.

Full-scale ferro-concrete building technology came was introduced in Japan in Meiji $35{\sim}40(1902{\sim}1907)$ and heralding the beginning of urban modernization. On the roofs of these new architectural constructions, full-scale rooftop gardens were also developed. We consider that gardens established on the roofs of hotel and department stores created a new, modernized garden culture, which greatly influenced the early modern urban culture of Japan, the drama of which it conceived based on the impression in a rooftop garden is made. In this paper, we discuss the influence of Meiji-Era cultural and technological advances on rooftop gardens constructed during the Taisho $Era(1912{\sim}1926)$, as represented by the gardens of Kobe's Oriental Hotel, Tokyo's Mitsukoshi Department Store and Shimonoseki City's Akita Company. Photographic and print sources are utilized to analyze the design features and temporal changes of these pioneering rooftop gardens, as well as their influence on urban culture.

To investigate the efficacy, tolerance of Vibramycin Precon PT-122 M and to determine the nature, incidence and severity of side effects of this formulation, 19 patients with urogenital infections were studied. 1. Vibramycin Precon PT-122 M reduced the signs and symptoms of various urogenital infections so as to determine the overall efficacy as good or satisfactory. 2. Intravenous injection of PT-122 M was generally well tolerated in all patients except 2 case of discontinuation because of adverse effect. 3. PT-122 M showed mild to moderate side effects but clinical features ana response to therapy were not influencea by those side effects.

This research aims to grasp the basic knowledge of green belt, which exerts far-reaching effects upon safety, by comparing the revelation of the green belt of the two cities-Japan and China. In result, features of both countries were clarified. The green belt of Japan emphasizes on the function during emergency cases such as natural disasters, while the green belt in China, stresses its' function toward social safety in usual status, such as crimes, accidents or environmental pollution. Also, the function of the green space at normal situations has many in common between these two countries; however, the concepts differ according to geological or social system.

Suburban green space is an important component part of urban ecological system, the third largest space between urban center and peripheral countryside. Because of the specific regional location of the suburban green space, it differs from the green space in the center of the city in the respects of construction and planning. Anyhow, it has the features of less investment, quicker efficiency, free and easy management and good ecological effects. The writer of this paper holds that urban ecological construction should be planned rationally and laid out in an overall way under the prerequisite of making full use of and protecting local species so as to further extend the green ecological space at urban periphery, to create dense green surroundings, and to explore a way for ecological construction to develop in a scientific, effective and healthy way.

This study makes a general view of human-, natural environment, actual condition of use, management and administration of Sissinghurst castle garden and proposes the following directions for our model of herb industry, herb garden plan with the analysed results. 1) The location of herb garden should be selected at a place where Is close to scenic spots, sight-seeing place or big city and conveniently situated, 2) For the basic design of herb garden, the ecological features, human -, natural environment should be analysed and for the implementation of the plan, it should have variety and coordination to give the pleasure and appreciation to the users. 3) For the plan of herb garden, time limit system and number limit admission have to be introduced by calculating carrying capacity so that the user can have a comfortable atmosphere and the garden should be environment - friendly.

In this paper, we review the lowest order staggered discontinuous Galerkin methods on polygonal meshes in 2D. The proposed method offers many desirable features including easy implementation, geometrical flexibility, robustness with respect to mesh distortion and low degrees of freedom. Discrete function spaces for locally H¹ and H(div) spaces are considered. We introduce special properties of a sub-mesh from a given star-shaped polygonal mesh which can be utilized in the construction of discrete spaces and implementation of the staggered discontinuous Galerkin method. For demonstration purposes, we consider the lowest case for the Poisson equation. We emphasize its efficient computational implementation using only geometrical properties of the underlying mesh.

Despite the process of neoliberalization has made a decisive influence on our society as a whole, there seems little interests in neoliberal urbanization and entrepreneurial urban projects promoting it. This study is to see relationships between neolibealization process and recent urbanization and urban policies in terms of entrepreneurial city mediating them. In particular, this paper tries to reconceptualize entrepreneurial city as corresponding to privatization and commodification, financialization, state redistribution, and management and manipulation of crises which Harvey(2005) suggests as four main features of neoliberalization process in general and 'accumulation by dispossession' in particular, and to characterize it in terms of 'creative destruction' and of 'entrepreneurial governance'. As examined in the later part of this paper, recent cases of these entrepreneurial urban projects in S. Korea include volatility of land and housing price in the Capital region and urban regeneration and newtown projects, project for free economic zones construction in Incheon and other 5 regions, project for SOC construction heavily relying on private investment, in particular project financing pursued nationwidely including Daegu, and project of urban cultural marketing to promote capital inflow tacitly as well as to enhance urban imagine explicitly.

This paper is consisted of the thesis that the decontextualized limitation of media cultural studeis in Korea should be overcome by walking into and linking with today's urban crisis and everyday life. It proposes us to become the flaneurs who do not hesitate to go to, think of, and experience actively the city in crisis under the capital/state domination. It's conclusion would be that we must practice participation observation at the fields and thus recover the critical element of cultural studies writing, by entering into the city and seeing at the features of crisis routinely expressed and symptomatically appear in there. For and before this, the author will first of all pay attention to John Fiske in later period, who was merely perceived and falsely regarded as an active audience theorist. He will also review de Certeau from whom Fiske has borrowed the concept of tactics, and Berman who has further practiced the very spatial tactic. The paper is prepared so as to expand the ideas and thoughts of them who have gone beyond the boundary of text, audience and onto the context of urban space. It's goal is much more than rescuing, recovering Fiske's alternative trajectory. It tries to reconstruct the tradition of urban media cultural studies critically connected with the dangerous, life-threatening capitalist condition. Furthermore, by filling up the theoretical vacuum left behind disconnected and cut away from Fiske, it attempts to find a vision, prospect of cultural studies that will actively engage themselves dialectally with dangerous yet hopeful life of the city and its popular masses.
