피칭 운동익에 작용하는 비정상 유체력 (Unsteady Force Characteristics on Foils Undergoing Pitching Motion)

  • In the present study the unsteady forces acting on the pitching foils such as a flat plate, NACA0010, NACA0020, NACA65-0910 and BTE have been measured by using a six-axis sensor in a circulating water tunnel at a low Reynolds number region. The unsteady characteristics of the dynamic drag and lift have been compared to the quasi-steady ones which are measured under the stationary condition. The pitching motion is available for keeping the lift higher after the separation occurs. Especially, the characteristics of the dynamic lift are quite different from the quasi-steady one at high pitching frequency regions. As the pitching frequency deceases, the amplitude of the dynamic lift becomes closer to the quasi-steady one. However, the phase remains different between the steady and unsteady conditions even at low pitching frequencies. On the other hand, the dynamic drag is governed strongly by the angle of attack.

  • Resistance performance of 3 G/T class coastal leisure boat is experimentally investigated at high speed ranges and the effect of a fin attached at hull side is studied together. Wave patterns are observed to make clear the relation between the resistance performances and the wave characteristics.

  • A Flapping foil Produces an effective angle of attack, resulting in a normal force vector with thrust and lift components, and it can be expected to be a new highly effective propulsion system. A heaving foil model was made and it was operated within a circulating water channel at low Reynolds numbers. The unsteady thrust and lift acting on the heaving foil were measured simultaneously using a 6-axis force sensor based on force and moment detectors. We have been examined various conditions such as heaving frequency and amplitude in NACA 0010 Profile. The results showed that thrust coefficient and efficiency increased with reduced frequency and amplitude. We also Presented the experimental results on the unsteady fluid forces of a heaving foil at various Parameters.

  • The shelter effect of a porous wind fence on a triangular prism was experimentally investigated in a circulating water channel. A porous fence of porosity .epsilon.=38.5% was installed in front of the prism model. The fence and prism model were embedded in a turbulent boundary layer. The instantaneous velocity fields around the fence and prism model were measured by using the instantaneous velocity fields around the fence and prism model were measured by using the 2-frame PTV(Particle Tracking Velocimetry) system. By installing the fence in front of the prism, the recirculation flow region decreases compared with that of no fence case. The porous fence also decreases the mean velocity, turbulent intensity and turbulent kinetic energy around the prism. Especially, at the top of the prism, the turbulent kinetic energy is about half of that without the fence.

  • 본 연구는 개발된 인플래터블 카약의 유체역학적인 성능평가를 위한 수조시험 및 그 결과에 대한 내용을 포함하고 있다. 개발된 인플래터블 카약과 해외제품에 대한 경사시험, 선회시험은 해양공학수조에서 시제품에 대한 시험이 수행되었고 저항시험은 회류수조에서 축소된 모형선을 이용한 시험이 수행되어졌다. 다음과 같은 성능평가 방법을 이용하여 개발된 카약과 해외제품에 대한 각각의 장 단점이 비교되어졌다.

  • The flow around a rotating circular cylinder near a plane wall is investigated by the measurement of the lift acting on the cylinder and by the flow visualization using the hydrogen bubble technique in the circulating water tank. The experimental parameters are the rotating direction of the cylinder. the space ratios $H/D(H/D=0.05{\sim}0.5)$ between cylinder and plane wall and the velocity ratios ${\alpha}({\alpha}=0{\sim}{\pm}2.0)$. In the case of clockwise, the lift on the rotating circular cylinder was increased with the reduction of the space ratios and with the velocity ratios, the upper separation point was more shifted in the rotating direction with them. In the case of anticlockwise, the absolute value of the lift on the rotating circular cylinder was increased with increasing the space ratios and the velocity ratios. the lower separation point was more shifted in the rotating direction with them.

  • This paper presents the results of wave profile detection from video image using Mexican hat function. The Mexican hat function has been extensively used in the filed of signal processing to detect discontinuity in the images. The analysis was done on the numerical image and video images of waves which were taken in the circulating water channel. The results show that Mexican hat function is an excellent tool in the wave profile detection.

경량탄소섬유(CFRP) 소재 50피트급 파워요트 저항특성에 관한 연구 (Study on Resistance Characteristics of 50-ft class CFRP Power Yacht)

  • The resistance performances were studied for two 50-ft-class power yachts made of carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) with different hull form characteristics using model tests. The tests were carried out at a high-speed circulating water channel (CWC) for the 16–38 knot range. The total resistance, trim, and sinkage were measured, and the results were compared with wave patterns. The results showed that a chine position at the draft line had a strong effect on the planning performance and resistance performance in a certain velocity range.

Construction of a Pilot Headbox System and Pressure Monitoring Apparatus for the Development of High Speed Hydraulic Headboxes

  • To investigate the influence of the design and operating parameters of the headbox on hydrodynamics, a pilot headbox system and pressure monitoring apparatus were constructed. The pilot headbox system consisted of a circulating water reservoir, centrifugal pump, distributor, turbulence generator and slice. The distributor was designed to function as a pressure attenuator. Flow rate to the headbox and MD and CD velocity profiles in the slice zone were monitored using an ultrasonic flowmeter and Pitot tubes, respectively. As the distance from the step diffusor increased, evener CD velocity profile was observed. Wall effect increased with the increase of the velocity. Flow stability in the headbox was evaluated by injecting a dye at the outlet of the distributor. Application of theoretical analysis based on CFD in designing headboxes is briefly discussed.

  • SI process is one of the most advanced thermochemical water splitting cycles enabling mass production of hydrogen without emitting carbon dioxide when coupled to nuclear heat energy. The highest temperature (close to $1000^{\circ}C$) required in SI process is well matched with the outlet temperature of a coolant circulating a high-temperature gas-cooled reactor at around $950^{\circ}C$. In Section 3, some heat exchangers are included to recover heats from process flows at high temperature. In this work, we designed a heat exchanger based on the $1Nm^3/hr$ $H_2$ production capacity using commercial tools for chemical process design.
