Experimental and theoretical study of the non-planar response motions of a circular cantilever beam subject to base harmonic excitation has been presented in this paper work. Theoretical research is conducted using two non-linear coupled integral-differential equations of motion. These equations contain cubic linearities due do curvature term and inertial term. A combination of the Galerkin procedure and the method of multiple scales are used to construct a first-order uniform expansion for the case of one-to-one resonance. The results show that the non-linear geometric terms are very important for the low-frequency modes of the first and second mode. The non-linear inertia terms are also important for the high-frequency modes. We present the quantitative and qualitative results for non-planar motions of the dynamic behavior.

In this study, a computer program was developed for analysis of the orthotropic curved ring sector plates. In the developing program , the thin-plate theory and multi-base coordinate system was adopted. The effect of design factors-boundary conditions, loading conditions, steel ratio, open angle, radius of curvature and relative flexural rigidity between slab and edge-beam-on the behavior of the circular ring sector plates were discussed. Also, the practical limitations was proposed to replace the problem of the orthotropic sector plate by equivalent rectangular plage.
For study on the unsteady blockage effect, flows around a rotationally oscillating circular cylinder with relatively low forcing frequency in closed test-section wind tunnels have been numerically investigated by solving compressible Navier-Stokes equations. The numerical scheme is based on a node-based finite-volume method with the Roe's flux-difference splitting and an implicit time-integration method coupled with dual time-step sub-iteration. The computed results of the oscillating cylinder in the test section showed that the fluctuations of lift and drag are augmented by the blockage effects. The drag further increases because of low base pressure. The pressure on the test section wall shows the harmonics having the oscillating and the shedding frequencies contained in the blockage effect.

In this study, the carbon steels, SM20C were machined with the tungsten carbide tipped circular saw to clarify the cutting-off characteristics in terms of tool wear. The results show that an improved performance in view of both the tool wear and the cutting efficiency was obtained by using oil base cutting fluid at the cutting speed of 100m/min with the feed of 0.06mm/tooth. The rake angle of 10$^{\circ}$ , clearance angle of 8$^{\circ}$ , nose radius of R0.1mm, and end cutting edge champer of 0.1mm$\times$25$^{\circ}$ are believed as the best tool geometries. The tool wear decreases due to using the saw of the disk of STS5 and the tool material of P30.
This paper desfcribes the formulation for the analysis of the free vibration of a circular cylindrical shell with elastic supports by the transfer influence coefficient method. This method was developed on the base of the concept of the successive transmission of dynamic influence coefficients. The analysis algorithm for circular cylindrical shell elastically restrained by springs, which plays an important role in many industrial fields, is discussed. The supporting springs have the axial, circumferential, radial and rotational spring constants uniformly distributed along the circumference of the shell. The simple computational results on a personal computer demonstrate the validity of the present method, that is, the numerical high accuracy, the high speed analysis method and the flexibility for programming, compared with results of the transfer matrixmethod and reference. We also confirmed that the present algorithm could obtain the solutions of high accuracy for system with a number of intermediate rigid supports. And we could easily treat the intermediate support and all boundary conditions by adequately varying the values of spring constants.
A new bacteriocin-producing lactic acid bacteria isolated from kimchi was identified as Lactococcus lactis JNU 534, presenting preservative properties for foods of animal origin. In this study, we present the complete genome sequence of the bacterial strain JNU 534. The final complete genome assembly consists of one circular chromosome (2,443,687 bp [base pair]) with an overall GC (guanine-cytosine) content of 35.2%, one circular plasmid sequence (46,387bp) with a GC content of 34.5%, and one circular contig sequence (7,666 bp) with a GC content of 36.2%.
A flow modeling method has been developed to analyze the flow in the annular base (rear- facing surface) of a circular engine nacelle flying at subsonic speed but with a supersonic exhaust jet. Real values of exhaust gas properties and temperature at an altitude of 30, 000 feet are employed. Potential flows of the air and gas streams are computed for the flow past a separated wake. Then a viscous jet mixing is superimposed on this inviscid solution. Conserva- tion of mass, momentum and energy for the wake flow field is achieved by multiple iterations with modest computer requirements.

Placing antennas of low power base stations below surrounding buildings, as in urban microcells, makes propagation characteristics strongly dependent on the building environment. As a result, propagation in these urban microcells is non-isotropic, so that the assumption of circular cells used in planning of conventional cellular sys toms is no longer valid. Assuming circular cells leads to a more conservative system design, implying more base stations. This work investigates the effect of cell shape, due to non-isotropic propagation, on the out-of-cell interference and Erlang capacity of CDMA system. Propagation is described by measurement derived models for low antennas in a rectangular urban street grid. The analysis is done for soft handoff protocols.

Control of drag force on a circular cylinder using multiple detached splitter plates is numerically studied for laminar flow Two splitter plates with the same length as the cylinder diameter (d) are placed horizontally in the upstream of the cylinder and in the near-wake region, respectively. Their positions are described by the gap ratios (G$_1$/d, G$_2$/d), where G$_1$ represents the gap between the cylinder stagnation point and the rear edge of the upstream splitter plate, and G$_2$ represents the gap between the cylinder base point and the leading edge of the rear splitter plate. The drag varies with the two gap ratios; it has the minimum value at a certain set of gap ratios for each Reynolds number The upstream splitter plate decreases the stagnation pressure, while the rear splitter plate increases the base pressure by suppressing vortex shedding. This combined effect causes a significant drag reduction on the cylinder Particularly, the drag sharply increases past an optimum G$_2$/d; this seems to be related to a sudden change in bubble size in the wake region.

Control of drag farce on a circular cylinder using a detached splitter plate is numerically studied for laminar flow. A splitter plate with the same length as the cylinder diameter(d) is placed horizontally in the wake region. Its position is described by the gap ratio(G/d), where G represents the gap between the cylinder base point and the leading edge of the plate. The drag varies with the gap ratio; it has the minimum value at a certain gap ratio for each Reynolds number. The drag sharply increases past the optimum gap ratio; this seems to be related to the sudden change in bubble size in the wake region. This trend is consistent with the experimental observation currently available in case of turbulent flow. It is also found that the net drag coefficient significantly depends on the variation of base suction coefficient.
