For this study, the Chuna Manual Relaxation Therapy, a therapeutic procedure in Oriental Medicine was carried out on patients suffering from insomnia following hospitalization. If a patient with no prior medical history in insomnia should suffer from insomniac symptoms, the following procedure was carried out on thos patients showing 15 points on the Insomnia Severity Index starting on the day when the patient first complains of symptoms associated with insomnia, stages 1, 2 & 3 of the 'JS Cervical Shinyoun Therapy' in accordance with the Korea Chuna medical Index standard was carried out on the patient's bed from 8pm to 9pm everyday for 1 week. After the 1 week procedure, a medical examination by interview was carried out the following day, and the Insomnia Severity Index measured again. (1 being when the patient's state of sleep is at its worst, and 10 being when it is the most satisfactory. In case of 5 patients, Insomnia is disappeared, and the quality of sleep improved. In regards to insomnia suffered after hospitalization, Stage 1,2 and 3 of "JS Cervical Shinyoun Therapy" for relaxing tension showed effective results to the patient.

Objectives: We conducted this study to evaluate the efficacy of Chuna Manual Therapy (CMT) for treatment of cervicogenic headache (CeH) through systematic review and Meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) as a preceding research to further research the effective of Chuna Manual Therapy for patients who suffered from CeH. Methods: We conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis by the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses guidelines. We searched the studies from MEDLINE, Elsevier-EMBASE, The Cochrane Library, CAJD, KISS, KMBase, Korean Traditional Knowledge Portal, NDSL, and OASIS. The studies selected only in randomized controlled trials. We selected the chosen studies by the selection and the exclusion criteria, and evaluated the quality of the selected studies using the Jadad score and the Cochran ROB tool. We used the Visual Analogue Scale score (VAS) and Clinical total Effective Rate (CER) for the results and analyzed the results of the included studies using RevMan 5.3 software provided by the Cochran library. Results: We included 20 RCTs, including 1,673 subjects, in the systematic review and meta-analysis. After the intervention, the CMT group showed better results than the pharmacotherapy group, the physiotherapy group, and the combined treatment group. The CMT group showed a good effect on the CER and the VAS but showed a significant heterogeneity compared to the pharmacotherapy group. Conclusions: The CMT as monotherapy might have benefits on Cervicogenic Headache patient. Further well-designed studies need to be conducted.

The study reports the clinical case of a patient with lower extremity weakness and gait disturbance treated with Korean medicine treatments including Chuna therapy. The patient suffered lower extremity weakness and gait disturbance with diagnosis of lumbar disk herniation and spinal stenosis. As a treatment, the doctor applied Chuna therapy, herbal medicine, acupuncture, pharmacopuncture, cupping and moxa. The effect of treatment was evaluated by numeral rating scale (NRS), self-walkable distance, functional independence measure (FIM), Oswestry disability index (ODI) and manual muscle test (MMT). NRS decreased from 6 to 4 at the leg. Self-walkable distance increased from 0 m to 10 m, FIM increased 85 to 96 points while ODI decreased 64% to 54%. MMT of hip flex and knee extension improved from grade 3+, grade 3 to grade 4, respectively. Korean medicine treatment can be effective for patients who suffer lower extremity weakness and gait disturbance due to lumbar disk herniation and spinal stenosis. Further clinical studies are required to verify these findings.

Objectives The purpose of this study is to report the effects of Korean medicine treatments including Chuna manual therapy, pharmacopuncture and acupuncture for two patients who have pain in hip joint diagnosed with avascular necrosis of the femoral head. Methods The treatment effect was evaluated with a numeric rating scale (NRS), range of motion (ROM), physical examination (Patrick test), and score of Harris hip score (HHS). Results After treatment, symptoms of the two patients such as hip joint pain and gait dysfunction were improved. The NRS decreased from 8 (right [Rt.]), 7 (left [Lt.]) to 4 (Rt.), 3 (Lt.) in case 1 and from 9 to 2 in case 2. Also the patients showed improvement in ROM and score of HHS increased from 55.5 to 88.5 in case 1 and from 63.5 to 85.5 in case 2. In addition, positive Patrick test improved to negative. Conclusions Korean medicine treatments including Chuna manual therapy, pharmacopuncture and acupuncture can be effective in relieving pain and recovering the fucnction of hip joint associated with avascular necrosis of the femoral head, even when surgery is recommended. Although further study such as controlled studies is needed.

Objectives : To research the trend of the study related to Chuna(推拿) and to establish the direction of further studies into the Chuna(推拿). Methods : We reviewed and analyzed all theses published by Korean research institution. And these theses were classified by research institutions, published year, field of study, subject, research methods, thesis types, illness and symptoms. Results : The following results were obtained in this study. 1. Classified by the major field of study, oriental medicine accounted for 59 papers, followed by 18 in physical education and 2 in the science of nursing and medicine. 2. Upon classifying theses according to research method and thesis types, research related to clinical trial accounted for nearly half of all theses. It was followed by consideration of documents. 3. After 1998 deals with the effects of the Chuna on variable illnesses such as: ossified posterior longitudinal ligament, chronic coccyalgia, entrapment neuropathy, low birth weight infant, Bell's palsy, stress incontinence, paramenia, Parkinson disease, Bertolloti syndrom, TMJ (because of scoliosis) etc. 4. Two most widely cured illnesses using the Chuna therapy are scoliosis and HNP of L-spine. However, when considering the fact that several clinical tests and casuistics did not include research into Lumbago (including HNP of L-spine), it can be concluded that most of the Chuna therapies have been concentrated on Lumbago. Conclusion : As it can be seen in the above results, the possibility of curing illness through Chuna and the usefulness of Chuna have been shown factually and clinically through various consideration of documents, clinical trial & casuistics. Based upon such facts, it is regarded that further scientific research along with additional clinical approaches involving the Chuna should be performed.

Objectives : This report was performed to evaluate the treatment of acupuncture Therapy. Bee venom acupuncture Therapy, Herbal medication and Moxibustion In Chronic lschial bursitis. Methods : We treated 1 case of chronic Ischial Bursitis with acupuncture therapy, Bee Venom Acupuncture therapy, herbal medication and Moxibustion Results : After 8 weeks of acupuncture Therapy. Bee venom acupuncture Therapy, Herbal medication and Moxibustion. a remarkable improvenment was made for Chronic lschial bursitis. The patient couldn't feel painful swelling over the center of the buttock and down the back of the leg. Conclusion : Acupuncture Therapy, Bee venom acupuncture Therapy, Herbal medication and Moxibustion were effective In reducing the symptoms. We think that it need the further study and clinical trial for Chronic lschial bursitis.

Objectives : This report was performed to evaluated the treatment of Bee venom acupuncture Therapy, acupuncture Therapy, Herbal medicaion and Moxibustion in herniation of inter-vertebral disc. Methods : We treated 1 case of herniation of inter-vertebral disc with Bee venom acupuncture Therapy, acupuncture Therapy, Herbal medicaion and Moxibustion. Results : After 12 days of Bee venom acupuncture Therapy, acupuncture Therapy, Herbal medicaion and Moxibustion, a remarkable improvement was made for herniation of inter-vertebral disc. The patient couldn't feel pain on walking. Conclusion : Bee venom acupuncture Therapy, acupuncture Therapy, Herbal medicaion and Moxibustion were effective in reducing the symptoms.

Objectives : Ankylosing Spondylitis, inflamatic disease, appeared symostosis, pain and dyscinesia in spine and sacroilic joint. It repeated an improvement and a depravation. We observed one patient with Ankylosing Spondylitis. Methods : This patient was juged incurable in points of western medical's View. But he was improved by treating oriental medical therapy. The therapies which used in this patient was acupunture, bee venom, korean chuna therapy and kinesiatrics etc. We measured the R.O.M, special test and degree of pain every day. Results : The R.O.M of extension in lumbar ${vertebrae(0_{\circ}\;{\rightarrow}5_{\circ}\;)\;and\;patrick\;sign(++/-\;{\rightarrow}\;-/-)}$ was improved a little. Degree of pain was improved better than admission. Conclusions : This case has demonstrated that the Ankylosing Spondylitis treated by oriental medical therapies proved good results.

Objectives : The propose of this study is to find out the clinical application of conservative treatment for Failed Back Surgery Syndrome(FBSS) patients. Methods : We examined 3 patients with Failed Back Surgery Syndrome(FBSS) who visited Jaseng Hospital of Oriental Medicine. We used Acupuncture, Bee venom, CHUNA manual therapy, Herbal medication for this patient. And we measured of NRS score to evaluate the conservative treatment effects. Results : In this study, patients sciatica and symptoms has improved. NRS score were also decreased. Conclusions : Conservative oriental medical treatment can be effective for improving symptoms of Failed Back Surgery Syndrome.

Objectives: This study is performed to evaluate the clinical effect of chuna therapy on the neck pain associated with kyphotic cervical curvature. Methods: This study carried out on three patients with neck pain & kyphotic cervical curvature who have received treatment in Depar1ment of Oriental Rehabilitation Medicine, Daejon Oriental Hospital of Daejon University from 28th July 2006 to 3th November 2006. Pre and post treatment, We evaluated the cervical angle, Jackson's angle, Jochumsen method, Ishihara index, VAS and effective score of treatment. Results & Conclusions: Two patients who received Chuna treatment recovered cervical curvature and improved neck pain. But One patient who dosen't received Chuna treatment was no improvement in cervical curvature & neck pain.
