  • According to the high demand of hybrid components, the hybrid materials development and processing technology were increased in the industry field. Although hybrid materials have various machining technologies, the research about them has rarely been proceed. This study is to carry out results about design technology of miniaturized high-speed air spindle and machining characteristics of hybrid materials using that. We studied machining characteristics in Nickel-Chrome alloy(Ni-Cr) according to change rotating speed using miniaturized high-speed air spindle. As the following results, the change of surface shape and roughness was investigated as the processing conditions such as rotating speed of miniaturized high-speed air spindle.

  • The influence of substrate materials on the thermal stability of black chrome coating was investigated by Rutherford backscattering spectrometry(RBS). In order to study thermal degradation the sample were annealed in air for 24 hour at temperature of 450. Cu, Ni, and S.S(Stainless steel 304) were used as substrate for selective coating. The experimental results of substrate diffusion was discussed. It was found that little diffusion of substrate material occurred for the sample pre. pared on stainless steel.

  • Seismic design for new built bridges has been considered which is being used now. However, before the revised code for seismic design is issued, the reinforced concrete bridge piers which has been built and being used are pretty weak under the lateral seismic load. experiments of bridge piers are done under iterative lateral load, according to experimental results, the influence of Nikon-Chrome alloy steel barson performance of bridge piers is analyzed, also the shape effect of anti-seismic reinforcement on pier behavior is discussed.

  • This study was carried out to investigate the relation between surface roughness and heat absorption capability of materials for solar collector. For this purpose, 3 kinds of materials (copper, aluminum, iron), 5 kinds of surface roughness (scrubber, alumina sand #80, #200, #400, glass bead) and 2 kinds of surface treatment (black chrome plating, copper black coating) were used for finding optimal conditions to apply solar collector. As the results, it was confirmed that the optimal relations between surface roughness and surface treatment as well as optimal materials were necessary. Further, heat absorption capability was showed good results in cases of copper materials, glass bead and black chrome plating.

  • Chrome-molybden steel or chrome steel for machine structural use been shown to excellent hardenability adding boron of a small amount at low carbon steel. In the country boron steel has been used widely high strength volt and wear resistant components of construction equipment. SEM results showed classical fatigue fractures, consistent with surface crack initiation. The speciments were cycled using under load controlled rotary bending fatigue tests. In this study, the fatigue crack initiation as well as the fatigue crack growth behavior and the fracture mechanism were investigated through observations of fracture surface boron steel(AISI 51B20).

  • The surface finishing systems using the micro abrasive film were designed and manufactured to make the mirror surface of the cylindrical workpiece. An experimental study of surface finishing was carried out to investigate the performance of mirror surface finishing system. The surface roughness of stainless steel was about Rmax 0.2~0.25 .mu.m, Ra 0.02~0.04 .mu.m in abrasive grain size 12, 9 .mu.m. the surface roughness of chrome coated workpiece was about Rmax 0.07~ 0.11 .mu. m, Ra 0.01 in abrasive grain size 3 .mu. m. Also, to measure the mirror finishing time by mirror surface finishing system, the experiment was carried out on the chrome coated and ground roller of diameter 76mm and length 650mm. The finishing time and surface roughness were 40min and Rmax 0.1~0.13 .mu.m, Ra 0.01 .mu.m.

  • The size and number of nano-size defects of thin trivalent chrome layers were determined by small angle neutron scattering (SANS) without breaking the thin chrome layers. Most of defect size of the trivalent chromium prepared in this test conditions is in the range of about 40nm. The number of nano-size defects less than about 40nm of the trivalent chromium layer increases with plating voltage at constant current density From this study, SANS is proved as one of useful techniques to evaluate nano-size defects of thin film layer.

Evaluation of Nonchromated Thin Organic Coatings for Corrosion Inhibition of Electrogalvanized Steel

  • The toxicity of chromium that is used to impart corrosion resistance to galvanized steel created environmental and health-related concerns and generated a great deal of interest in developing chrome-free treatment coatings. In the present work, organic-inorganic composite coatings were used to coat electrogalvanized steel (EG) sheets for corrosion protection without degrading its weldability property. The new coatings composed of specially modified polyurethane dispersion hybridized with silicate and unique inorganic-organic inhibitors were developed during this work. It was found that about $1{\mu}m$ thickness of coating layer is secure enough in corrosion resistance of flat and formed part even after alkaline degreasing. Overall chemical resistances including fingerprint resistance and paint adhesion property were satisfied with the test specification of Sony technical standard of SS-00260-2002. Therefore, it is concluded that the newly developed chrome-free product can replace the conventional chromated product.

The Antimicrobic Effect of Antimicrobial Finish and Successive Process of Chrome-Tanned Leather for Apparel. (의류용 크롬유혁의 항미생물가공 및 후속공정에 따르는 항미생물 효과)

  • To obtain the basic data of the effect of antimicrobic finishing on chrome-tanned leather for apparel, it was studied that the specimens given from each step of manufacturing process, that is, steps before and after neutralization and after fixation were treated with Si-QAC as a antimicrobic finishing agent, and the antimicrobic activity was evaluated. The results were as follows: 1. The bacterial reduction of the specimens finished antimicrobically were 100% and 94.4% before and after neutralization respectively, however, the specimens carried out successive process after antimicrobic finishing exhibited the reduction of 16.5% and 14.8%. It was assumed that the antimicrobic agent was washed off by the successive process. 2. When the antimicrobic finishing was carried out on the specimens after fixation the bacterial reduction was 95.0% and then the specimen carried out successive process was 97.3%. This result indicates that antimicrobic finishing on the leather would be given after fixation rather than before and after neutralization.
