  • The total number of flies collected was 9,707, with sex ratio of 27.9% in Chinju National univ. of education campus. The fauna of fly was found to be 37 species consisting of 15 Calliphoridae, 7 Sarcophagidae, 14 Muscidae and 1 other. The dominant species, Lucillia illustris, Limnophora sp. and Phaenicia sericata constituted 48.9% of the total individuals of flies collected with the trap. The seasonal prevalence of flies was shown from the end of February to the middle of December, and the peaks of files appeared quarterly, in the beginning and the middle of April, in the middle and the end of July and from in the end of September till in the beginning of October. The great peak time of prevalence was in the beginning of October. The peaks of species appeared quarterly, during one year, the great peak time of species was in the end of June which appeared sixteen. As the result of the comparison of the seasonal prevalence of nine predominant species among 37 species collected with fly trap, were found to exhibit a specific character and showed the pattern of the each species.

  • Currently computer education has been emphasized improving thinking skill instead of practical education of applied software. There are various studies that are to teach algorithm with visualization learning materials or activitives-centered unplugged class. However, algorithm classes for elementary school have various difficulties. One of the reasons is insufficient learning materials and teaching methods. Therefore we designed a activities-centered algorithm class for elementary school students. We hope this study will contribute to the study of algorithm classes for improving kids' thinking skill.

  • In previous private education expenses were concentrated only on expenses for elementary, middle, and high school students. Therefore, it is difficult to understand the actual condition of preschool children's private education expenses. To solve this problem, we analyze the 2013 and 2020 data of the Korea Welfare Panel to confirm the private education expenditures of pre-school children. Also, we examine the differences and changes in private education expenditures according to household variables. We selected the household variable as the socio-demographic variable of the study subject. We defined the household variable as the area and income of the household. We show the actual results of private education expenses for household variables using frequency analysis, descriptive statistical analysis, t-test, and one-way ANOVA of SPSS 27.

  • The purpose of this research was to compare the harmony of tone on tone coloration according to transformation of color area-ratio in traditional Korean dress. The respondents were asked to evaluate 36 stimuli of the traditional Korean skirt and jacket with different color tone. The subjects were 83 female undergraduate students. The results are as follows. For red colors, combinations of vivid/dull, vivid/dark, and light/dark made a difference in the harmony of coloration according to the transformation of color area-ratio. For yellow colors, combinations of vivid/dark, light/dull, and light/dark made a difference in the harmony of coloration according to the transformation of color area-ratio. For green colors, combinations of vivid/dull, vivid/dark, light/dull, and light/dark made a difference in the harmony of coloration according to the transformation of color area-ratio.

  • In the existing curriculum of the Elementary Computer Education, it is hard to improve the CPS(Creative Problem Solving) skill and logical thought since the 7th national curriculum emphasizes application programs and CAI softwares. To complement this drawback, it is required to teach the principal of the computer science but there is not many researches for what problems of teaching computer science exist and what the response of students are. Thus, we carried out a research to know whether the students of elementary school can understand principal of computer science in the field of subject matter education. We found that the students can learn the principle of Saving Bitmap Image if the class level is adjusted properly.

  • The purpose of this study is to verify the effect of raising plants at home on elementary school students' emotional intelligence. The experimental group in the post-test showed significant differences in all the domains of emotional perception, emotional expression, emotional empathy, emotional control, emotional application, compared to the control group, which indicated that the activity of raising plants at home has positive effects on the emotional intelligence of high graders in elementary school. Even in the change of students' emotional intelligence according to their gender, male students in the experimental group had higher average values more than the control group, showing significant differences in all the domains of emotional perception, emotional expression, emotional empathy, emotional control, emotional application. Female students in the experimental group had the same tendency. Accordingly, as a result of this study, it was found that the activity of raising plants at home has positive effects on the improvement of elementary school high graders' emotional intelligence.

  • The purpose of this paper is to develop RPG based learning content for English low-achievers at elementary school and to verify the educational effectiveness of this content. Design strategies were elicited by reviewing curriculum and literature. Educational RPG was developed based on ADDIE model. The researchers implemented them in four 5th-grade English low-achievers for two months. Free writing, interviews and observations of the homeroom teacher were conducted to verify the effectiveness of the content. As a result, English low-achieving students became interested in RPG itself, raised their expectations and became more satisfied in learning. When students completed missions while playing games, they gained satisfaction and were challenged by the new missions. This had a positive effect on learning motivation, or "continuing motivation" as mentioned by Keller.

  • Dipterans are excellent insects to serve as forensic indicators to determine the postmortem interval of a human corpse. Therefore, we undertook a study to identify the major dipterans that are attracted to and develop in vertebrate carcasses. To determine what dipterans occur in Korea, chicken carcasses were placed in various habitats including the forest, open field, stream bank, greenhouse, rooftop, rice paddy, Chinese cabbage field, vacant hut, and pond at different times of the year. The dipterans were collected at various time intervals after placement in each habitat until the end of decomposition and identified. Our results showed that 49 identified and unidentified dipteran species from 36 genera in 19 families were collected from the carcasses. Habitat placement influenced the number of species isolated from the carcasses. For example, 39 species were collected from the forest habitat, 28 species from the open field, stream bank, or greenhouse each, 16 species from a vacant home, and 12 species from the pond. The dipteran species that were collected from all habitats were Phaenicia sericata, Lucilia illustris, and Lucilia sp. in the family Calliphoridae and Boettcherisca peregrine in the family Sarcophagidae. Other dipteran species that were isolated depended on carcass placement that is, fewer dipteran species were observed from carcasses in the backpack and much more species were recorded from unburied carcasses than buried carcasses. P. sericata, L. illustris, Lucilia sp., B peregrine and an unidentified sarcophagid species were observed year round, but some dipterans showed seasonal differences.

  • The purpose of this paper is to suggest design principles for videoconferencing using an English Native Speaker. For this, Design-Based Research which is emerging newly was applied. During the research period of 3 months, several English classes were recorded. After finishing each class, Korean teacher and Native teacher wrote reflective diary and a researcher implemented interviews to students who had this class. Based on these data, this class was divided into 3 steps which is consisted of before class, under class, and after class. And then a research analysed patterns of this class, errors, and interactivity etc. The result of this paper, because a Korean teacher and students in the classroom meet a Native speaker in the distance through the videoconferencing system, teachers who design this class should consider many aspects due to the complexity of this.

  • This research was done in an effort to look into the influence on self-esteem and achievement motivation by putting the horticultural activity program into practice targeting the elementary school students in rural areas. This research conducted the program on the 4th graders of C elementary school located at a rural area in Gyeongnam by dividing them into an experimental group and control group for one session every week (3 hours each) for 12 weeks. First, it was found that the experimental group, which went through the horticultural activity program, improved in their self-esteem more than the control group and there appeared a statistically significant difference as well. In addition, the experimental group, as compared to the control group, was found to improve more in their achievement motivation and there appeared a statistically significant difference as well. Accordingly, this research was able to confirm that the horticultural activity program was effective in promoting the self-esteem and enhancing the achievement motivation of the elementary school students in rural areas.
