The Giant Magellan Telescope (GMT) is a 24.5m diameter optical/infrared telescope. Its seven 8.4m primary mirrors give it a collecting area equivalent to a 21.4m filled aperture. The ten GMT partners are constructing the telescope at the Las Campanas Observatory in Chile with first light planned for the end of 2018. In this paper, we describe the plans for the first-generation focal plane instrumentation for the telescope. The GMTO Corporation has solicited studies for instruments capable of carrying out the broad range of objectives outlined in the GMT Science Case. Six instruments have been selected for 14 month long conceptual design studies. We describe the features of these instruments and give examples of the major science questions that they can address.

We report the first detection of RR Lyrae variable stars in the Crater II dwarf galaxy, a recently discovered ultra-faint satellite of the Milky Way. Based on B, V time series photometry obtained with the Korea Microlensing Telescope Network (KMTNet) at CTIO, Chile, we have identified ~45 fundamental-mode (ab-type) and ~2 first-overtone (c-type) RR Lyrae stars by adopting template light-curve fitting method. Our preliminary analysis suggests an Oosterhoff-intermediate classification of this galaxy from the mean period of the RRab stars, <$P_{ab}$> ${\simeq}0.63$ days, and the location of them on the period-amplitude diagram. We discuss the properties of the RR Lyare stars in this galaxy.

It is very important to allocate valuable resources efficiently when reconstructing buildings after earthquake damage. This paper proposes the use of a simple seismic retrofitting system to make buildings more resilient than the stiffer systems such as the shear walls implemented in Chile after the earthquake in 2010. The proposal is based on the use of steel chevron-type braces in RC buildings as a dual system to improve the seismic performance of multistory buildings. A case study was carried out to compare the proposal with the shear wall solution for the typical seismic Chilean RC building from the structural and economic perspectives. The results show that it is more resilient than other stiffer seismic solutions, such as shear walls, reduces the demand, minimizes seismic damage, gives reliable earthquake protection and facilitates future upgrades and repairs while achieving the level of immediate occupancy without the costs of the shear walls system.

The morphometry and distribution of the unarmoured dinoflagellates Brachidinium capitatum F.J.R. Taylor, Asterodinium gracile Sournia, Microceratium orstomii Sournia and the toxic species Karenia papilionacea Haywood et Steidinger have been investigated in open waters of the SE Pacific Ocean. The genus Microceratium Sournia is recorded for the first time since the initial description. These taxa showed a high morphological similarity and they may correspond to life stages of a highly versatile single species that is able to project body extensions. Karenia papilionacea showed the higher abundance in the surface waters of the more productive areas (the Marquesas Archipelago and the Perú-Chile Current). Brachidinium capitatum and K. papilionacea often co-occurred, predominating B. capitatum in offshore surface waters. Asterodinium gracile was recorded at the bottom of the euphotic zone (down to 210 m depth), with a shallower distribution in more productive areas. Intermediate specimens of Asterodinium-Brachidinium-Karenia, with variable disposition and size of the body extensions were illustrated.

칠레 북부해안에는 여러개의 해안 단구들이 발견되는데 이는 지구조 운동과 하께 해수면 변동과 밀접한 관련이 있다, 단구의 형성시기는 전부 밝혀지지는 않았으며 여전히 논란이 되고 있다,. 안토파가스타에서 이끼케까지 9개지역에서 발견되는 여러단구에 대한 탄 소 연대측정 전자스핀 공명법, 우라늄측정, 아미노산 연대측정 방법들을 이용하여 그 형성시 기를 측정하였다, 그결과들은 기본적으로 3∼4개의 뚜렷한 단구를 선정하여 지역간에 서로 대비하였다, 대부분의 단구들은 산소 동위연소 연대(Oxygen Isotope State) 3에서 11범주에 들어가는데 이것은 계단식 단구들이 단지 지구조 운동만으로 형성된 것이 아니라 전지구 기 후 변동과 밀접하게 관련된 전세계 해수면 변동에 의해 강한 영향을 받았음을 시사한다. 특 히 플라이스토세에 형성된 일련의 해빈 사구들은 플라이스토세 초기에서 중기사이 반복된 간빙기를 나타낸다.

Since the Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) with Chile, the EU, and the U.S., Korean agricultural produce markets have turned into a fierce competition landscape. Under these competitive circumstances, marketing is critical. The objective of the research presented herein is to understand the characteristics of customer preferences after locating trends of purchased items. So This research establishes sustainable strategies for Korean agricultural produce. This investigation used market-basket analysis techniques and panel data for its research. Market-basket analysis is a technique which attempts to find groups of items that are commonly found together. The results show that, for one year, processed food using wheat, processed marine products, and pork are commonly bought together and that yogurt and milk also are bought together. The characteristics of customers buying these items are 44 years old and live in a four-person household with two children. These customers do not live with their parents.

Recently, Korea have experienced numbers of FTAs with other countries, including Chile, EFTA(European Free Trade Association), Singapore, ASEAN(Association of South-East Asian Nations), and U.S. In particular, FTA with U.S. are expected to cause huge impact on food markets as well as agricultural sector in Korea. Many researches have analyzed and discussed about the impact on agricultural sector after Korean-U.S. FTA, but very small number of studies focus on the impact of Korean-U.S. FTA on food markets. The purpose of the paper is to discuss the impact of Korea-U.S. FTA on Korean dairy market. For the numerical simulations, this paper focus on the impact on cheese and butter markets. The results of numerical analysis in the paper will be helpful for the future research, because few (maybe no) studies conduct the numerical analysis to measure the impact of Korea-U.S. FTA on Korean food market.

On this study, I introduce Integrated monitoring system that administrator check a event as early. I develop Monitoring System using SMS(Short Message Service). Administrator always monitor structure on real-time using mobile web-page. As Administrator using mobile device like PDA, Administrator always monitor structure. As using this system, Damage of nature disaster is minimized and is prevented post damage.

According to the TRQ system created by WTO agreement on agriculture, Korea notified the WTO of the application of tariff rate quotas for 67 agricultural commodities(now, 63 commodities). Among these government administrate state-operated trade for 17 commodities. However, WTO/DDA negotiation will bring about lowering tariffs and increasing quantities of tariff quota. This study suggest the development programs corresponding WTO/DDA agriculture negotiation. First, from the viewpoint of the protection of domestic agriculture & improving transparency of agricultural import administration, the administration system of the state-operated trade will be necessary to be transformed for market oriented methods. Second, the administration system of the state-operated trade will be necessary to be rendered unified organization also. The current system of the state-operated trade shows the phenomena og many divergency. And third, The quantities of market access of FTA between Korea and Chile will be desirable to be administrate by state-operated trade. Because, according to diffusion of FTA treaties, the amount of market access quantities of FTA increase rapidly henceforth.

The expansion of regionalism has resulted in the creation of blocs of the world economy, so that those countries not belonging to one or more blocs can discriminated. Though recently singed on the bill of FTA with Chile, Korea is actually alienated from major stream of the blocs. Therefore, Korea government makes efforts to contract more FTAs with countries such as Singapore and Japan. FTA is believed to be an important method to secure export and national competitiveness in the long term. Therefore, we need to exactly understand critical issues and the long-run effect of FTA. The paper tries to find out important issues and potential strategies relating to electronic commerce in Korea-Singapore and Korea-Japan FTA. According to the historical facts, economic effect of FTA depends a lot on the contents of the agreement. Therefore, additional intensive studies are required before contracting FTA in the future.
