This study heads for analysing precedent studies on children's social conflicts and groping for the tendency of change investigation, according to streams. So, this study selected and analysed 101 books as a study standard, basing on native studies. The collected materials were handled with frequency and percentage. The summary of the study is as followings. First, the progress of the studies on children's social conflict, classified with years, showed an increase from 1995 to 2005, but it showed a decrease after 2005. Second, as for an object of a study on children's social conflicts, the study frequency on conflicts among peers was high greatly, but the study frequency on parent-child, teacher-child conflicts was low comparatively. As for a number of the study object, the study frequency on the object less than 50 was the highest, and the study frequency on 50-100 was high, the next. As for a study period, short-period study was the most, but longitudinal study was not performed at all. As a study type, quantitative study was comparatively higher than qualitative study. Experimental handling method was the highest. The number of study tools was high in order of 1, 2, and 3. Third, as a subject of the study on children's social conflicts, the subject of study on relationship between children's social conflict factors and their development was the most, and children's social conflict factors, and children's social conflict aspect analysis, and children's conflict solution strategy in order.

Purpose: Neurofibromatosis type 2 (NF2) is characterized by multiple tumors, including vestibular schwannoma (VS) and others affecting cranial and peripheral nerves. NF2 is caused by mutation of the NF2 gene. The mutation spectrum of NF2 has not been characterized in Korean patients. In the current study, the clinical and genetic characteristics of Korean NF2 patients were analyzed. Materials and Methods: Twenty-five unrelated Korean families were enrolled according to the Manchester criteria. Genetic analysis was performed by direct sequencing and multiplex ligation-dependent probe amplification methods using genomic DNA from peripheral lymphocytes or tumor tissues. Results: All patients had bilateral/unilateral VS and/or other cranial and peripheral nerve tumors. Two patients were familial cases and the other 24 patients were sporadic. Germline NF2 mutations were detected in peripheral lymphocytes from both familial cases, but only in 26.1% of the 23 sporadic families. Somatic mutations were also found in tumor tissues from two of the sporadic families. These somatic mutations were not found in peripheral lymphocytes. A total of 10 different mutations including 2 novel mutations were found in 40.0% of studied families. Five mutations (50.0%) were located in exon 6 of NF2, the FERM domain coding region. Conclusion: Family history was an important factor in identifying germline NF2 mutations. Further study is required to investigate whether exon 6 is a mutation hotspot in Korean NF2 patients and its correlation to phenotypic severity.
This study explored the effect of fathers' childrearing participation and their recognition about child care situation on fathers' satisfaction with nonparental child care. The results of this study are as follows: First fathers who had finished college education whose family had more family income and whose wives had jobs were more participated in childrearing practice than fathers who had finished high school whose family had less family income and whose wives had no job, Second when childre's age were over 5 years fathers tended to recognize about child care situation. That is fathers whose children were over 5 years old more recognized about how caregivers took care for children's congnitive development and were more satisfied with educational materials of child care centers than fathers whose children were less 5 years old. Third fathers' recognition about child care situation were found to mediate the relationship between fathers' childrearing participation and fathers' satisfaction with nonparental child care.
This study examined the acoustic characteristics of Korean alveolar fricatives of normal children. Developing children aged 3 and 7, typically produced 2 types of nonsense syllables containing alveolar fricative /sV/ and /VsV/ sequences where V was any one of three corner vowels (/i, a, and u/). Stimuli containing the speech materials used in a production experiment were presented randomly to 12 speech language pathologists (SLPs) for a perception test. The SLPs responded by selecting one of seven alternative sounds. Acoustic measures such as duration of frication noise, normalized intensity, skewness, and center of gravity were examined. There was significant difference in acoustic measures when comparing vowels. Comparison of syllable structures indicated statistically significant differences in duration of frication noise and normalized intensity. Acoustic parameters could account for the perceptual data. Relating the acoustic and perception data by means of logistic regression suggests that duration of frication noise and normalized intensity are the primary cues to perceiving Korean fricatives.
This study analyzed physical knowledge displayed in the utterances of 10 Korean children 23 - 76 months of age. Utterances were blocked into four-month time periods, except the first two months and classified into 5 categories including properties of physical objects and materials, friction, buoyancy, gravity, and the motion of physical objects. All five types of physical expressions were found in the data of the earliest period the percent age of the properties and motion was higher than the percent of friction, buoyancy, and gravity. Data suggested two transitional points of change in physical knowledge : 2-year-old's descriptions were based only on perceptually salient physical features 3- to 4-year-olds described only end-state results while children older than 4 included systematic causality.

The purpose of this study was to analyze teacher's teaching-learning strategies and young children's concepts related to mathematics and science in integrated mathematics and science education activities. To achieve this purpose, actual class episodes were analyzed. The episodes were derived from 7 sessions of interaction between teacher and 4 kindergartners in integrated mathematics and science education activities. As a result of the study, children's concepts related to mathematics and science in integrated mathematics and science education activities occurred three factors: the relationship between weight, shape and movement, the relationship between weight and size, and the concept of measurement. In teacher's teaching-learning strategies, three factors were revealed: teacher's questioning, use of teaching materials, and children grouping.

The increased diversity in designs, colors, and materials of children's clothing these days call for extra caution in care of these garments; however, the lack of customer's trust and efforts in complying with the care label combined with the enterprises's inadequate label attachments have led to various problems and disputes. This research attempts to examine customer's recognition, perception, and attitude towards the care labels on children's clothing. This research used the data collected from a total of 292 housewives raising children less than 7 year old. Descriptive statistics such as means, standard deviations, frequencies were calculated and ANOVAS followed by Duncan tests were carried out using SPSS 10.0. The results are as follows: First, 84.3% of the housewives admitted that they know about care labels; individuals with higher education level reported higher recognition. Second, as for the perception/attitude toward care labels, 46.9% perceived that care labels 'require additional knowledge for washing clothes' and 30.2% answered that they trust care labels. Third, 51.7% answered that they 'check the symbol instruction'; this tendency was higher among those with higher education levels. Fourth, 31.5% answered they comply with the instructions on care labels. Fifth, as for the reasons for not complying, 60.3% answered they neglect care labels because 'based on my experience, no major problems would occur'; this tendency was higher for those with greater personal income. Sixth, when asked whether any information on the care label kept them from buying a particular garment, 59.2% responded they did not purchase a garment because 'laundry costs appeared to outweigh the product price'; this response was higher among individuals with a higher level of income or education.
The purpose of this study was to investigate Korean elementary school children's extracurricular activities by gender, grade and area from a sample of 3,608 children in six Korean provincial areas except Jeju-do. They responded to the questionnaire developed by the researchers. Data were analyzed by frequency and percent using the SPSS PC 15.0 program. Results were as follows: Firstly, 3,337 children(92.5%) participated in extracurricular activities, and the rest(7.5%) did not. This result illustrates that the majority of Korean elementary school children are taking part in at least one or more out-of-school activities. Secondly, the average number of extracurricular activities in which elementary school children participated was 8.48 and the average time allotted was 655.24 minutes; each child took about 8 activities and spent approximately 10 hours per week. Thirdly, main extracurricular activities in which children participated were to go to educational institutes, to take art/physical education lessons, and to study self-learning materials. Lastly, what elementary school children wish to do most in their spare time was to play the computer games, to take a rest, to enjoy family and friend relationships, and to watch the television.
The purpose of this study was to measure perceiving extent on father and mother's authority - domain perceived by child and the some materials for bringing up authority - domain in according to the sex and development level of child. The study subjects were children of 3rd elementary schools and 3rd middle schools at Cheong - ju city Chungcheongbuk - do and duration for investigation was from Sept. 24, '97 to Sept. 28, '97. The measuring sample was "Parents' Authority Index" by Kim, Kyeong - hee(1990). The Data were analyzed by descriptive analysis, t - test and ANOVA using the SPSSWIN program. The conclusion of this study were as follows; 1. The perceptive extent regarding parents' authorities has shown very voluntary differences in identity authority. It has shown voluntary differences ligitimacy authority and competency authority as well. 2. In the father's authority - domain based on the child's sex, girl group recognized higher than boy group for the ligitmacy authority as a elementary school students. 3. In the father's authority - domain aspect based on child's developing level, for the ligitmacy authority boy group showed most voluntary difference. In the mother's authority based on child's developing level, all of boy and girl group recognized highly exchange authority with a voluntary difference. 4. In concering the correlation of each authority - domains to father and mother percevied by children, it was shown the highest within identical realm.
Children are an important target of health promotion activities due to the life long effects. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to evaluate a nutrition education program offered to primary school students by community health centers. Eight hundred and twenty-six children from 4 primary schools in Seoul voluntarily attended the program. Teachers taught the classes with materials that were provided to them. The subjects were asked to fill out a questionnaire before and then after completion of the program. The data were analysed by SPSS. The results showed that there were significant positive differences in the children's nutrition knowledge scores after the program (p<0.001). In terms of dietary attitude, the rate of 'yes' responses, as a desirable answer to many questions, had increased (p<0.001); however, this positive change in scores was not statistically significant. For dietary habit changes, it was shown that the proportion of children regularly eating breakfast five days a week had improved to 3.3%. And the proportion of children eating fast foods and instant foods decreased. There was no change in fruit intake, but vegetable intake increased (p<0.001). However, the children's overall dietary habit scores did not show a significant change. In the evaluation of the program, 52.3% of the subjects answered that was helpful, and they viewed 'fast food' as the most interesting topic, whereas 'nutrition labeling' was the most difficult topic in the program. The program's effectiveness was positive in terms of enhancing the 'nutrition knowledge', 'dietary attitudes', and 'dietary habits' of the children. Therefore, the above results indicate that this type of program, provided by community health centers, was effective for nutrition education.
