Effect of Polygonum multipolarum extract on the allergic reaction of NC/Nga mice causing atopic dermatitis (하수오 추출물(Polygonum multiflorum)이 아토피 피부염 유발 NC/Nga 생쥐의 알레르기 반응에 미치는 영향)

  • Atopic dermatitis (AD) usually develops in patients with an individual or family history of allergic diseases, and is characterized by chronic relapsing inflammation seen specially in childhood, association with IgE hyperproduction and precipitation by environmental factors. and wished to examine closely effect that Polygonum multiflorum isolated PM-E and PM-70M orally adminstration used to atopy dermatitis disease patient get in atopy eruption control experimentally. Atopic dermatitis is a chronically relapsing inflammatory skin disease. Animal models induced by relevant allergens play a very important role in the elucidation of the disease. This study was investigated the anti-allergic effect of PM-E and PM-70M on BMAC induced atopic dermatitis in NC/Nga mice. We summerized as the follow. PM-E and PM-70M significantly reduced the skin number of total cell number, CD4+ and CD11b+/Gr-1 cell compared with positive control and decreased the invasion of CD4+ cell in dorsal skin tissue compared with positive control group by using immunohistochemical staining and chemokine such as eotaxin and CCR3 compared with positive control group. PM-E and PM-70M markedly suppressed invasion and edema of leukocytes and mast cell in dorsal skin. Taken together, these findings suggested that PM-E and PM-70M has an anti-allergic activity and this might be useful for the clinical application to treat allergic diseases such as atopic dermatitis.

  • The structure of modern society are complex, fast, overflowing of individualism and losing of independence through the standardization of human relationship. The frequency increased that children watch television and play computer game alone through this structure. Also, the mental disorder like as autism tend to be increase for childhood because, parents overprotect, unmethodical bringing up children, emotional disturbance and effect of genetic. Therefore, research and case study of art therapy publish that illustrates a tendency of developing and growing. On the base of this situation art therapy realize more important than before and gain power. Therefore, this research consider that clay therapy effect for autistic just children and investigate function of catharsis through the case study. Also, make study that social rappot and function of catharsis develop for children who has autism. The suggest effect of synergy which come from clay therapy(education of ceramic) and development of education program.

The Clinical Effect of Phellinus linteus Grown on Germinated Brown Rice in the Treatment of Atopic Dermatitis (소아 아토피 피부염에서 발아현미 상황버섯의 임상적 치료효과)

  • Objective: Atopic dermatitis is the most common chronic inflammatory skin disease in childhood. Phellinus linteus, an orange color mushroom, has been used as a traditional herb medicine for years. Recent preliminary animal experiments suggest that Phellinus linteus grown on germinated brown rice is effective in chronic inflammatory disease. The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of Phellinus linteus grown on germinated brown rice in the treatment of atopic dermatitis(AD). Methods: 35 patients, 2 to 14 years of age, with mild to moderate AD were treated with Phellinus linteus grown on germinated brown rice powder per oral, $6{\sim}12g$/day adjusted by the body weight, divided three for up to 12 weeks without other treatment. The mean age of patients was 7.3 years. The disease activity has been monitored by objective SCORAD index. The symptom score of the pruritus was measured by using a traditional visual analogue scale (VAS). In addition, the global assessments of clinical response were also monitored by patients or their parents. Results: After 12 weeks of the study, significant reductions in mean severity scores and mean symptom scores were observed. The mean objective SCORAD indices of 35 patients decreased from 25.31${\pm}$8.96 to 18.73${\pm}$13.89(p<0.05). And the mean symptom score of pruritus assessment decreased from 7.37${\pm}$1.33 to 4.6${\pm}$2.3(p<0.05). The patient's global assessment of clinical response were also improved through the period of treatment(p<0.05). Conclusions: Phellinus linteusgrown on germinated brown rice may play a role in the treatment of mild and moderate AD in Children.

Effect of environmental relationship between fungal exposure and asthma in children (천식질환이 있는 영유아가 환경요인 중 곰팡이 노출에 따른 영향)

  • Background: Asthma is one of the most common chronic diseases and can be affected by environmental factors. It has been reported that exposure to indoor environmental factors can cause infantile asthma during infancy and childhood, but the previous studies are not yet clear. Climate change has recently been shown to increase indoor mold. Exposure to fungi is known to be directly related to the development of aggravation. Methods: This study was conducted from July 20, 2016 to September 30, 2016. The study was conducted on 90 household with children under the age of 7 who attend atopy school. The questionnaire surveyed allergic symptoms, social and demographic characteristics, and environmental characteristics. Environmentally hazardous substances were measured such as temperature, humidity, fine dust, volatile organic compounds, formaldehyde, bacteria, fungus, house dust mite, endotoxin. Results: According to the survey results, 9 patients (10%) were treated with asthma, 6 (6.7%) were asthmatic patients during the past 12 months, and 4 patients (4.4%) were asthmatic patients during the past 12 months. There were statistically significant differences in the direct effect of smokers in the family (P=0.0328). High-filter vacuum cleaners collected $0.4222CFU/m^3$ in subjects without asthma, and $0.2222CFU/m^3$ in subjects with asthma. In addition, various results confirmed that asthma exacerbated by mold exposure. Conclusions: The results of this study suggest that exposure to fungal by infants and toddlers may play an important role in the development of asthma. In this study, we investigated the relationship between asthma and fungal concentration.

A Study on the Major Standards and Actual Conditions of Evacuation Safety in Child Care Facility (보육시설의 피난안전 관련 주요 기준 분석 및 실태조사에 관한 연구)

  • Recently, the number of child care facility and social demand for high quality child care service increase suddenly. Especially, social atmosphere about fire safety is more sensitive in Korea. The majority of the residents in a child care facility are composed of early childhood having difficulty to evacuate, and therefore the number of stories of a building and the appropriateness of a evacuation equipment play an important role in the evacuation safety. In this study, problems and improvements for the evacuation safety are dealt with the present conditions of child care facilities, the comparative analysis between domestic and foreign standards, the research on the actual condition of evacuation equipments, and so on. The study brings to a conclusion that it is necessary to systematize the regulations regarding fire safety, to connect fire-fighting facilities for design standards and operations of emergency preparation equipments, to improve the regulations for fire protection system such as the sprinkler system, and to restrict the facilities having fire hazards.

  • The purpose of this study is to propose the future development direction of the program which can apply the fusion education in the fourth industrial revolution era to the class and achieve creative problem solving ability. As a research method, we investigated cases of overseas coding education and conducted in - depth interviews with infants and parents. The results of the case study and in-depth interviews were as follows: First, the children were able to do their own preliminary and reviewing at home. Second, to provide an interesting play program for the young children to participate. Third, It is important that parents and children learn together. In future research, it is anticipated that there will be a positive effect by concrete proposal to secure the weaknesses and to combine existing coding education with interesting education in accordance with domestic characteristics.

Nutrition education discouraging sugar intake results in higher nutrient density in diets of pre-school children

  • BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES: The intake of sugar has increased worldwide, and it is well established that childhood experiences and food preferences affect lifelong eating habits. To discourage sugar intake, nutrition education was imparted, and the effectiveness of the nutrition education program was investigated by considering the nutrient density and major dietary sources of sugar intake. SUBJECTS/METHODS: Twenty four-hour dietary recall and sugar intake frequency of 96 pre-school children (educated n = 47; non-educated n = 49) were collected on 3 consecutive days (1 weekend day, 2 weekdays) after 11 weeks of imparting nutrition education. Dietary intake of nutrients and total sugar were analyzed, and the intake frequency of sugar source foods were identified. All nutrition education programs were focused on a hands-on education program, and consisted of cooking lab, play, activity, animation, and visual materials. The difference between the two groups was verified by the Chi-square test or t-test. All statistical analysis was performed with significance level at P < 0.05. RESULTS: Compared to the non-educated group, the intakes of protein (P < 0.001), fiber (P < 0.01), potassium (P < 0.05), iron (P < 0.05), zinc (P < 0.05), and iodine (P < 0.001) were significantly higher, and the intakes of carbohydrate (P < 0.01) and total sugar (P < 0.05) were significantly lower in the educated group. The cumulative percent of sugar intake of top 20 sugar source foods in the educated group (82.80%) was lower than that of the non-educated group (85.75%). The contribution of beverages on total sugar intake was lower in the educated group. The average frequency of consuming sugary foods was significantly lower in the educated group (P < 0.05). CONCLUSIONS: Our results indicate that nutrition education on discouraging sugar intake is effective in reducing the amount of total sugar consumed, resulting higher nutrient density in the diets of pre-school children.

  • This study aims to investigate the characteristics, concepts, types, and strategies of unplugged coding for young children based on computing thinking. The key to unplugged coding for young children is computing thinking. Unplugged coding based on computing thinking for young children can be used to solve problems that can be encountered in everyday life through playing games based on logical thinking by positively utilizing algorithm boards, s-blocks, coding robots, and smart devices without using programs And find new ways to play. Types of unplugged coding for young children include direct input to smart devices, using coding robots with dedicated apps, practicing coding procedures using algorithms, and using hybrid methods. Strategies include understanding algorithms, drawing flowcharts, dividing into smaller parts, finding patterns, inserting, and predicting outcomes.

Development and Validation of Home Newspaper Utilization Scale for Elementary School Students (HNUS-E) (초등학생을 위한 가정 신문 활용 척도의 개발 및 타당화)

  • This study develops and validates an objective scale to measure newspaper use at home by elementary school students and parents. We developed a preliminary scale of 59 items through the review of literature on newspaper use and mediation as well as the examination of content validity by education experts. Collected data were analyzed using SPSS 21.0 and AMOS 21.0 programs. A total of 42 items were supported by 703 parents with students in grades 1-6 using exploratory factor analysis. The model included 3 categories and 9 sub-factors: instruction (modeling, restriction, and text instruction), activities (play activity, conversation, online mediation, and scrap activity), and belief (academic achievement and information acquisition). Confirmatory factor analysis confirmed and validated the model fit; in addition, convergent validity, and discriminant validity, and cross validity was confirmed through correlation analysis by gender comparison and grade comparison. We also verified the validity of this scale through correlation analysis based on Yu and Jung (2012)'s newspaper mediation variables and scale in regards to children's motivation for using newspapers. Finally, internal consistency reliability and half reliability were also confirmed. In conclusion, the suitability and stability of home newspaper utilization scale for elementary students (HNUS-E) were confirmed. This scale provides parents and educators with ideas for the development of the children's literacy, cognitive, and affective domains that can be effectively used in research on newspaper use for school-aged children.

Kindergarten Teachers' Perception and Implementation Status of Value Education for Young Children (유아를 위한 가치교육에 대한 유치원 교사의 인식과 실시현황)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine kindergarten teachers' perceptions on early childhood. Questionnaires were distributed to kindergarten teachers throughout Gyeonggi-do areas in Korea. A total of 794 questionnaires from kindergarten teachers were analyzed. The data were analyzed by frequency analysis and percentage, chi-squre verification using SPSS Win 21.0 Program. As a result of the study, it was found that most of the teachers are aware of the high interest and importance of children's value education, and most of them responded that they conduct value education. The recognition that the implementation method should be done through kindergarten life guidance was highest, followed by interaction during play. In the current status of implementation, teachers were mainly practicing values education through life guidance.
